"I want to get it for you, Valerie." I gestured towards a dress with the colour blue. The blue was clear, more like midnight blue. It shimmered just from the place I was standing. It looked good on the mannequin; it wasn't just elegant; it would suit Valerie more.
I didn't understand why I was thinking about this all of a sudden. It wasn't as if I had any woman apart from my ex; since she left, I had focused on my career, my dreams. I wasn't sure why I was intrigued by Valerie.
Valerie hesitated beside me, her gaze following the direction of my finger pointing towards the dress, then it darted away as if she had no right to admire something so exquisite. She made exquisite dresses; why didn't she see herself in one? "You should try it on," I said, nodding toward the dress.
She scoffed, folding her arms. "I don't need it, Mr. Nelson."
I stepped closer, lowering my voice. "Maybe not. But you want it. And call me Kurt, Valerie. It's simple."
