Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 Chilly Chilly

A few days had passed since Chiran had reclaimed his throne from his brother, returning his village to its former state. The two boys took Chiran's offer and decided to do some training while there in the village. The dinosaurs have even said their strength would turn the boys into fine warriors. Mo-Mochi and Chino were thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from such skilled warriors.

The training was rough. Even though Mo-Mochi was accustomed to basic training, the Giras were exerting more pressure on him than his father would. The Giras, on the other hand, were definitely harsh on him, taking heavy blows that sent him flying across the training grounds. He had noticed something during this intense training that his body had never experienced before: a newfound resilience and endurance. When Mo-Mochi would take serious blows that he shouldn't be able to recover from so quickly, he did. He even took that powerful punch from Kiran.

He had begun to speculate about how and why this newfound resilience and endurance had developed. Mo-Mochi wondered if it was a result of his illness disappearing; it made the most sense. Ever since then, his body had changed, his strength increased, and he still never understood why his hair had not turned pink. Despite his initial doubts, Mo-Mochi couldn't deny the undeniable improvement in his physical abilities. He couldn't help but wonder about the deeper connection between his illness's disappearance and the remarkable changes with his body.

On the other hand, when it came to Chino's training, he did very well. His training partner would always talk about how Chino was a natural and seemed to possess an innate talent for combat. Determined to improve and get stronger, he was making progress. Despite his natural talent, Chino knew that hard work and dedication were essential to truly excelling in combat. Each passing day, Chino could feel himself becoming a more formidable fighter, ready to face any challenge that came his way.

After some time had passed, Chino and Mo-Mochi finished their training with the Giras and were ready to press on with their work. They packed their belongings and told Chiran goodbye, expressing their gratitude for the Giras' guidance and mentorship. Chino ecstatic about what would come next, running off on all fours. Mo-Mochi chuckled and followed closely behind, knowing that Chino's enthusiasm was contagious. Before Mo-Mochi could catch up with him, Chiran stopped him. "Mo-Mochi, wait!" He turned around, startled by Chiran's sudden call. He paused and looked back at Chiran, curious about what he wanted to say. Chiran caught his breath and said, "I forgot to give you something important before you go. It's a token of appreciation for your kindness when we met.

Chiran handed him a blue-ribbon-tied scroll. Mo-Mochi's eyes widened with surprise as he accepted the scroll from Chiran's outstretched hand. He carefully untied the ribbon and unrolled the scroll, revealing what seemed to be a technique. Chiran replied with a smile, "It's the Merry-Go-Round-Gum technique, but it's a modified version that I've developed from my dad. I call it Go-Go Gum. To clarify it a bit, for a few seconds, it will fully restrain an adversary, but you'll only have a few seconds, so make it count. I thought you might find it useful in your future adventures if you are able to master it." Mo-Mochi's excitement grew, as he had never learned a technique before. It could be fun, he thought.

Mo-Mochi hugs Chiran goodbye and promises to practice the go-go gum technique diligently. Mo-Mochi couldn't wait to test it out in his next adventure and show Chiran how much he'll improved. Running off to catch up to Chino, he waves at Chiran goodbye and shouts, "Thank you, Chiran! I won't let you down!" Mo-Mochi set off on whatever new adventure may await him.

Mo-Mochi and Chino were able to travel far with their newfound strength. Wild animals had nothing they could throw at the boys. Animals like wolves, tigers, and bears were no match for their boys teamwork. The boys effortlessly maneuvered through the dense forests, leaving the predators in awe of their prowess. As they journeyed through the wilderness, Mo-Mochi and Chino became confident in both their fighting and survival skills.

Their bond grew stronger with each passing day as they relied on each other for support and protection. The boys began rubbing off on each other a bit, Mo-Mochi picking up Chino's fishing style in his own way. Chino sometimes hears Mo-Mochi out on ideas instead of running head-on, rarely even making his own ideas, but the cat was still stubborn.

During the night after Chino went to sleep, Mo-Mochi would practice the Go-Go Gum technique using the scroll that Chiran had entrusted to him. He would carefully study the movements and try to mimic them, determined to master the technique. Although progress was slow, Mo-Mochi had never done anything quite like this before. He would spend hours at night in solitude, trying to learn this technique, but he didn't know what he was missing.

Mo-Mochi was frustrated with himself, saying to himself, "Dammit, why can't I get this right? I'm doing it properly; I'm following the scroll's instructions. What exactly could I be missing that is preventing me from getting the hang of this?" He wondered if there were any hidden nuances or subtle details that the scroll failed to mention. He thought perhaps he could show the scroll to Chino, but the cat never likes reading, so maybe not. Maybe he'll find someone later on his journey who could help him, so he'll keep the scroll until he encounters someone knowledgeable enough to show him where he's going wrong.

A few days later, Mo-Mochi pulls his arms inside his tracksuit when they arrive in a snowy environment for which they were unprepared. The cat, on the other hand, seemed unfazed by the freezing temperatures, leading Mo-Mochi to envy his friend's natural warmth. After a bit of stepping through the thick snow, Chino stops Mo-Mochi as his cat's nose begins to smell something. It smelled really good. Chino recognized that scent from anywhere, and as he whispered to himself, "Fish," He ran through the thick snow, leaving his footprints in the snow. Mo-Mochi shouted over to the cat that began to run on all fours again, "Wait for me!" But Chino was too excited to slow down. He knew that the scent of fish could only mean one thing: a potential meal. Mo-Mochi chased after his friend.

That's when they saw it—a small village nestled in the snow. Pointing towards the village, Chino exclaimed, "They have some fish there! Not just one, but multiple types: baked, steamed, fried, grilled, and I think I also smelled sushi." Chino had already left, running excitedly toward the village. Mo-Mochi sighed and followed suit, hoping that Chino wouldn't cause any trouble with the villagers.
