Chapter 11 - Abby

She just needed to make a good plan.

Abby ignored Xiao Qi, and Xiao Qi dared not speak either, so Abby continued to read her book in peace.

Abby read incredibly fast, truly worthy of the phrase "to read ten lines at a glance."

Her top priority right now was information gathering. She just needed a general understanding of most things, just enough to have an impression, so as not to be clueless about everything.

Once she had a broad foundation, she could then engage in more efficient and targeted learning.

Time flew by in the morning, and Abby put down the fifth book she was reading and checked the time.

It was time for lunch.

It was important to replenish her energy promptly.

Unconcerned with the glances around her, Abby stood up calmly, placed the book back in its original position, and then left the library.

Those glances had significantly diminished by now; after all, most people were just curious. Abby had never really cared.

What she didn't realize was that her casual, rapid reading style seemed careless and pretentious to those who had been observing her for a while.

Someone standing by another bookshelf stared at Abby's departing figure for a moment before sighing coldly and returning their gaze to the shelves.

In the afternoon, classes were due. After lunch, Abby returned to the dormitory, planning to rest for a bit.

The living room was empty, and the doors to the rooms were closed. Abby wasn't sure if anyone else was in, so she went straight to her own room.

Sitting at her desk, Abby held a pen and wrote in a notebook.

Despite being in an apocalyptic world, perhaps due to the pressure to survive, the level of technological development here far exceeded Abby's expectations.

To improve efficiency, people rarely used traditional pens and paper to record information anymore; instead, they would store data directly in their personal cloud accounts using communication devices.

As a newcomer, Abby was somewhat uncomfortable relying on these high-tech products.

Moreover, she felt that some private matters should not be stored on such technology.

What if someone, bored out of their minds, decided to hack into her account and leak her information?

Thus, on her way back to the dormitory, she made a detour to buy some paper and pens.

Abby thoughtfully listed her next steps in her notebook.

First and foremost, her ultimate goal was clear: end the apocalypse and go home.

To achieve that, she needed to accomplish at least two things.

One was to kill all the zombies, and the other was to improve the human living environment.

Abby shared her idea with Xiao Qi and received confirmation.

"That's correct, host. I just confirmed it. These two tasks are necessary conditions for completing the mission. Host, you're so smart! I didn't even say it, and you already know!"

Xiao Qi, still feeling a bit guilty, couldn't help but praise her.

Abby didn't really want to engage with it. She had already realized the unreliability of the system. Rather than waiting for it to inform her, she preferred to think for herself.

Now that she had confirmed the main task, she needed to clarify the side tasks and details.

The side task, naturally, was linked with Xiao Qi's guidance mission.

Although it made her headache, Xiao Qi mentioned that she could exchange favors for rewards, which seemed like a way to enhance her strength, so she couldn't give it up.

Besides, favorability, wasn't it about making friends and being helpful? These were probably ways to increase favorability.

Abby thoughtfully wrote "Be friendly, live in harmony, make friends widely" next to "Side Task-Guidance" in her notebook.

Seemed reasonable.

With enough good friends, she would gain more rewards and become stronger!

"Host, only specific characters can be targeted," Xiao Qi reminded her.

"..."

That didn't matter. With more friends, she'd meet more potential targets, right?

Abby double-checked the feasibility of her plan and then circled the keywords she had written and connected them with lines, all pointing towards one word: Strength.

Before leaving home, she had learned from her current family that her power was of the wood element, currently only at level one, the lowest level.

In this world, both zombie and ability levels were divided into one to nine ranks.

To determine the level of an ability, besides observing external capabilities, the most crucial aspect was the crystal core.

After all, an ability user was someone who had contracted the zombie virus but miraculously survived.

This is the source of energy for all abductors and zombies.

Different sizes of crystal nuclei correspond to different levels.

In order to improve their ability level, in addition to daily training, the most important method for abductors is to obtain crystal nuclei and absorb the energy in them.
