Chapter 3 - Dormitory

For a moment, Abby was still trying to adjust to just's inexplicable kindness and persistence, pausing before responding.

Escaping the direct sunlight, Abby finally saw just's face clearly.

His hair color was not purely golden but leaned more towards auburn, it was only under the direct sunlight that his hair shone brilliantly.

His slightly messy short hair was relaxed and refreshing, his handsome face always wearing a slight smile, revealing two pointed canines when he spoke.

"Why do you bring so much luggage? Won't the academy provide living essentials?"

"Eh... I'm more used to using my own. And you, just bring a backpack?"

Did she bring too much?

Abby packed according to her usual experience of living on campus.

And to save effort, her luggage was already quite streamlined.

But when she looked at just, she couldn't help but doubt herself.

"Yes, I thought since the academy provides everything, I'd bring less so it would be easier and more comfortable."

just patted his big backpack, smiling.

What?!

The school provides?!

How could such an important thing not know?!!!

Carrying so many unnecessary things!

Abby glanced at just's light backpack, then at her own pile of belongings and couldn't help but turn away with a deep breath.

just found her expression of resignation amusing and interesting but also tactfully didn't reveal Abby's delusion.

After resting for a while longer and fearing they might miss the registration, just and Abby hurriedly went to the registration area. After completing the formalities, they went to the dormitory together. Along the way, although Abby repeatedly declined and emphasized that she could carry her own luggage, perhaps due to her slender figure and excessive paleness, just still insisted on carrying all her luggage on his shoulder.

Probably feeling that letting Abby carry her own load would make her feel embarrassed, just also considerately handed his backpack to her.

"Don't really mind! Look, from now on, we'll be roommates. Helping each other is only natural."

just seemed very happy about being roommates and smiled all the way.

Abby felt his behavior was very much like a big golden retriever she had seen before.

Suddenly, her palms felt a bit itchy, and an urge to pet him rose.

"Thanks a lot today! Otherwise, I don't know how long it would take me to move all these things alone." Abby said, putting on his backpack with a smile.

She wasn't good at interacting with such enthusiastic people and it always gave her a hard time.

But at least so far, just seemed like a nice person.

With so little understanding of this new world, having a warm-hearted local to get along with could only be beneficial.

"Hehe, I'll give you a secret in advance."

While Abby was still immersed in her thoughts, just suddenly leaned forward and whispered in her ear.

"One of my powers is strength! So, taking care of this stuff for me is a piece of cake!"

just's sudden approach caused Abby to instinctively take a step back, but just didn't seem to mind and stood up straight after finishing speaking, looking rather proud.

"Power of one?"

Abby caught those words keenly.

Although she now knew that some people in this world could awaken abilities after the apocalypse, she didn't expect anyone to possess more than one power.

"Aren't you a multi-power individual?"

With that thought in mind, Abby blurted it out.

"Hehe, yes." just replied casually.

His tone and expression didn't reveal any hint of pride or arrogance, as if he was just sharing something exciting with a friend.

"Do you want to guess again, what other powers I have?"

As they walked, just asked.

Abby stared at him, unable to find any clues, and finally decided to go with her gut feeling and guessed, "Fire?"

This enthusiastic personality seemed quite fitting for the fire attribute.

"Hmph, wrong guess!" just did not look displeased, but he didn't seem in a rush to reveal the answer either.

Alright, it turned out that her guess based on his appearance was indeed inaccurate.

The living conditions of the Noah Empire Academy's dormitories were indeed very satisfactory, with all dormitories consisting of four-person suites.

Each suite was equipped with a small living room, four separate bedrooms, a small kitchen, a bathroom with partitions, and even a balcony, in addition to a series of other living facilities, all of which were fully provided by the school.

After all, the school cultivates students who will one day become warriors on the front lines of humanity to fight against zombies, so it is reasonable and appropriate to provide them with a good living environment.

Abby and his roommates were lucky, as their dormitory was located at the end of the corridor.

This meant that all their rooms had windows for ventilation.

Quite pleasing indeed.

"It seems that some of our roommates have arrived?" just glimpsed two closed doors with keys missing and cards with residents' names already posted at the door.

"Yes." Abby responded, putting down her luggage and looking around the suite.

Hmm, everything is well-equipped, and the space is spacious, much better than the eight-person dormitory without private bathrooms she stayed in during her previous university life by a landslide.
