Chapter 1 - The Beginning of the Journey

In the tranquil yet vibrant Pallet Town of the Kanto Region, the renowned Professor Oak's Lab buzzed with energy. Six teenagers stood gathered inside, their faces alight with anticipation and excitement. This was no ordinary gathering—these were the best and brightest of Pallet Town's trainers-to-be, ready to embark on their Pokémon journeys. Among them were Red Akihiro, a silent prodigy known for his laser-sharp focus; Gary Oak, the ever-confident grandson of Professor Oak; Leaf Evergreen, a spirited and optimistic girl with dreams of becoming a Pokémon researcher; Ash Ketchum, the fiery and determined boy with an unshakable dream of becoming a Pokémon Master; Elaine Larkspur, a gentle soul with an unexpected knack for strategy; and finally, Reyan Sylvaris, who stood slightly apart, radiating quiet confidence.

Unlike the others, Reyan harbored a secret. He wasn't just a talented trainer—he was a reincarnator. In his past life, he'd been an ordinary college student, his mundane existence cut short by the infamous "Truck-kun." When he awoke, he found himself in this world, a ten-year-old boy with loving parents who happened to be Elite Members of the Pokémon Alliance. As the only child of this influential family, Reyan had been showered with opportunities others could only dream of. His parents ensured he received the best education and training, money and influence could buy. Now, five years later, he stood as the top-ranked student among his peers, already a skilled trainer, and today, he was about to receive something that would set him apart even further—a Dratini, a Pokémon of great potential and a future pseudo-legendary powerhouse.

Reyan tried to suppress his grin but failed miserably. Heh, let's see their faces when they get their Charmander and Bulbasaur while I casually walk out of here with a Dratini.

His friends exchanged glances at his smug expression, clearly wondering what had him so amused.

"Reyan, are you plotting something again?" Gary quipped, crossing his arms with a smirk. "You've got that 'I'm better than you' look on your face."

Reyan chuckled, leaning back against a nearby counter. "Who, me? Never. I'm just excited like everyone else. Today's a big day, right?" His innocent tone was anything but convincing.

Elaine nudged Leaf and whispered, "He's totally up to something. I can feel it."

Leaf shrugged, grinning. "If he is, it's Reyan. It'll be fun to watch."

Before anyone could press him further, the doors to the lab slid open, and Professor Oak strode in, his usual warm smile in place. Following him was his Champion-level Alakazam, its spoons glowing faintly as it levitated a tray with six Pokéballs, each marked with a unique elemental symbol. The room fell silent, tension crackling in the air.

"Good morning, everyone!" Professor Oak greeted, his voice steady and reassuring. "Today is a special day, not just for you but for me as well. Seeing young trainers like you, full of promise, always reminds me of why I love my work."

"Good morning, Professor!" they chorused back, their voices a mix of nervousness and excitement.

Professor Oak chuckled. "I see you're all eager to begin, and rightly so. Today, you'll receive your very first Pokémon, your partner for the journey ahead. Each of these Pokémon has been carefully selected to match your potential and personalities." His eyes twinkled as he glanced at each of them. "Some of you may even find a few surprises."

Reyan nearly burst out laughing at that line. Oh, there's going to be a surprise all right. Can't wait for them to see.

As Professor Oak continued his speech, Ash leaned closer to Red and whispered, "Do you think I'll get Pikachu? My mom said she saw one around the lab last week."

"Focus, Ash," Red muttered, keeping his stoic demeanor. "It doesn't matter what you get. What matters is how you train."

"Easy for you to say, Mr. Future Champion," Ash shot back, pouting.

"Quiet down," Gary hissed. "This is serious."

Elaine giggled softly. "Serious or not, Ash's face when he doesn't get Pikachu will be priceless."

Finally, the moment everyone was waiting for arrived. Professor Oak gestured to the tray held by Alakazam. "Now then, step forward when I call your name."

Professor Oak scanned the room, his gaze settling on Gary, the highest-ranked student after Reyan. "Gary Oak, you may go first."

Gary smirked and crossed his arms. "Thanks, but I'll pass the honor to my rival. Red, you go first. I want to see what you get before I pick."

Red nodded, his stoic face betraying a flicker of excitement as he stepped forward. Professor Oak handed him a Pokéball with a flame emblem. Red tossed it into the air, and in a flash of light, a Charmander appeared.

"Charmander, huh?" Gary said, a competitive grin spreading across his face. "Figures. I'll take this one, then." He strode forward, grabbing the ball with a water emblem. When he released it, a Squirtle emerged, standing proudly beside him.

Leaf was next. She approached eagerly, accepting the ball with a leaf emblem. A moment later, a Bulbasaur materialized, its small eyes shining as it looked up at her. "You're adorable!" Leaf squealed, kneeling to pet her new partner.

Ash, practically bouncing on his toes, stepped forward when his name was called. "Please let it be Pikachu!" he whispered fervently. Professor Oak chuckled and handed him a ball with a lightning emblem. The moment he opened it, the familiar yellow mouse appeared with a cheerful "Pika!"

"Yes! We're gonna be the best team ever!" Ash declared, fist-pumping the air.

Next was Elaine, the sixth-ranked student of the group. She accepted her Pokéball with quiet excitement, revealing an Eevee. "Aww, you're perfect," she murmured, cradling the fluffy creature in her arms. The others looked on approvingly—Eevee's potential for multiple evolutions made it an excellent choice for someone with Elaine's strategic mindset.

Finally, all eyes turned to Reyan, the top-ranked student and mystery of the group. Professor Oak's expression softened as he handed over the final Pokéball, marked with a dragon emblem. "Reyan, your partner is a special one. I trust you'll help it reach its full potential."

Reyan smirked, already knowing what lay within. He tossed the ball with deliberate flair, and in a flash of light, a sleek Dratini coiled gracefully on the floor, its blue scales shimmering in the sunlight.

The room erupted into chaos.

"ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" Gary shouted, his usual confidence replaced with sheer disbelief.

"A Dratini?!" Ash yelped, his jaw dropping. "How is that even fair?!"

"No way…" Leaf murmured, staring in awe.

Elaine blinked, looking between Reyan and the Pokémon. "Okay, this is rigged."

Red completely ignored the chaos around and focused on forming his bond with his Charmder.

Reyan knelt, stroking Dratini's smooth scales as it nuzzled his hand affectionately. "What can I say? Some of us just get lucky," he said with a grin that practically screamed smugness.

"LUCKY?!" Gary yelled. "This isn't luck—this is straight-up favoritism! Did your parents bribe the professor or something?"

Reyan shrugged, feigning innocence. "Who knows? But hey, it's not my fault the world loves me."

Ash crossed his arms, glaring. "Fine! Just you wait! Pikachu and I are gonna shock your Dratini right out of the sky!"

Dratini hissed playfully, as if accepting the challenge.

Professor Oak chuckled, watching the lively group with a mixture of amusement and fondness. "Now, now, everyone. Remember, it's not about the Pokémon you start with, but the bond you build and the effort you put into your journey. Each of you has great potential."

As the group continued to bicker, cheer, and marvel at their new partners, Reyan's thoughts drifted inward. A Dratini today, a Dragonite tomorrow. This world is mine for the taking. Let's see who can keep up.

Meanwhile, Dratini coiled around his arm, gazing at the group as if daring them to challenge its new trainer.

The room crackled with tension as Gary Oak stepped forward, his usual cocky smirk now replaced with a determined scowl. He pointed a finger at Reyan, his Squirtle standing proudly beside him.

"I can't let this slide, Reyan," Gary declared. "A Dratini? Seriously? Let's see if you can actually use it in battle, or if it's just a showpiece. I challenge you to a one-on-one battle right now!"

The others gasped, their new Pokémon blinking curiously at the sudden shift in energy. Even Professor Oak raised an eyebrow but said nothing, allowing the fiery moment to unfold.

Reyan, however, didn't look the least bit surprised. In fact, he welcomed the challenge with a sly grin. "Oh? You're sure about that, Gary? I mean, I wouldn't want Squirtle to get hurt this early in the game."

"Don't patronize me!" Gary snapped, his face reddening slightly. "Are you scared or something?"

"Scared? Of you? Please." Reyan gave a mock sigh, placing a hand on Dratini's sleek head. "Fine. If you want to start your losing streak today, who am I to stop you?"

Before Gary could retort, Professor Oak clapped his hands together, commanding the group's attention. "Very well, if you're going to battle, let's take this outside. I'll serve as the referee to ensure things remain fair."

The group quickly filed out of the lab and into the spacious field behind it. The area was lush and green, perfect for a beginner's battle. A gentle breeze rustled the grass as the Pokémon eagerly took in their surroundings.

Professor Oak stood in the center of the makeshift battlefield, his authoritative presence calming the bubbling excitement. "Alright, this will be a one-on-one match between Gary Oak and Reyan Sylvaris. The battle will end when one Pokémon is unable to continue. Trainers, are you ready?"

Gary smirked, rolling his shoulders as he pointed at Reyan. "Born ready. Squirtle, you're up!"

Squirtle waddled forward, its confident stance mirroring its trainer's.

Reyan chuckled, stepping into his spot with Dratini slithering beside him. "Alright, Dratini. Time to show them why you're in a league of your own."

The two Pokémon faced each other, the anticipation building to a fever pitch. Ash, Red, Leaf, and Elaine stood off to the side, watching with wide eyes.

"This is gonna be intense," Ash muttered, clutching Pikachu in his arms.

"No kidding," Red added, his gaze never leaving the battlefield.

Professor Oak raised his hand. "Let the battle begin!"

"Squirtle, use Tackle!" Gary commanded, wasting no time. Squirtle dashed forward with surprising speed, aiming straight for Dratini.

"Dratini, counter with Wrap!" Reyan ordered, his voice calm but firm.

As Squirtle closed the distance, Dratini coiled its body and lashed out with lightning precision, wrapping itself around Squirtle before the Tackle could connect. Squirtle flailed, trying to break free, but Dratini's grip was too strong.

"Don't panic, Squirtle! Use Tail Whip to loosen its grip!" Gary shouted.

Squirtle swung its tail in rapid arcs, landing a few hits on Dratini's body. The serpent-like Pokémon hissed but held on.

"Nice try, Gary," Reyan said, his smirk widening. "Dratini, finish this with Thunder Wave!"

Dratini's body sparked with electricity, and a burst of paralyzing energy coursed through Squirtle. The small turtle stiffened, its movements slowed by paralysis.

"Squirtle!" Gary called, his voice tinged with worry. "Come on, fight through it!"

"Now, Dratini, end this with Twister!" Reyan commanded.

Dratini's body glowed faintly as it whipped up a small but fierce tornado, sending Squirtle flying backward. The turtle landed with a thud, its swirly eyes signaling its defeat.

Professor Oak stepped forward, raising his hand. "Squirtle is unable to battle! The victory goes to Reyan and Dratini!"

The field erupted into a mix of cheers and groans. Ash whistled, impressed. "Wow, Reyan's no joke!"

"Dratini's strong, but that Thunder Wave was the real game-changer," Leaf said, nodding.

Elaine tilted her head. "Gary didn't stand a chance. He'll need to get creative if he wants to beat Reyan."

Gary recalled Squirtle with a sigh, walking over to Reyan. "Alright, fine. You win this round. But don't think this means I'll stop coming after you."

Reyan extended a hand, his smirk softening into a genuine smile. "Looking forward to it. Keep me on my toes, Gary."

Gary hesitated before shaking Reyan's hand. "You bet I will."

As the group gathered around, Professor Oak clapped his hands again. "Excellent battle, both of you. Remember, the journey ahead is long, and you'll all have plenty of opportunities to grow stronger. Now, let's head back inside. We still have a lot to discuss before you set off on your adventures."

The teenagers nodded, their excitement renewed. As they walked back to the lab, Reyan couldn't help but glance at his Dratini, pride swelling in his chest.

The past five years of dedicated training with his parents were finally paying off. Despite having been just a casual Pokémon fan in his previous life, only watching the anime during his childhood, Reyan had adapted well to the reality of this world. He quickly realized that this was no scripted journey. The world of Pokémon here was far more complex, unpredictable, and dangerous than any fictional narrative could convey.

Because of this, Reyan chose not to blindly follow any plot he vaguely remembered. For all he knew, the events he once watched could take a completely different turn—or might not occur at all. In this version of the Pokémon world, vigilance was his greatest ally. Danger could strike at any moment, whether from wild Pokémon, rogue trainers, or unforeseen disasters.

As they stepped into the lab, Professor Oak greeted them warmly and handed each of them a Pokédex.

"This device," Oak began, holding one up, "is your trainer identification and an essential tool for learning about Pokémon. Think of it as your second partner—it not only stores data about Pokémon you encounter but also includes features like a map and a semi-sentient AI assistant to help guide you. If you're ever lost or in trouble, it may very well save your life."

Reyan turned the Pokédex over in his hands, marveling at its sleek design. He couldn't help but compare it to the technology of his previous life on Earth. Despite his world's advances in smartphones and artificial intelligence, the Pokémon world's technological achievements were leagues ahead. Devices like Pokédexes, Poké Balls, and Pokémon Centers were feats of engineering that Earth could only dream of achieving.

The group thanked Professor Oak and exited the lab, Pokédexes in hand, marking their first official steps as Pokémon trainers.

After saying their goodbyes, the group parted ways, each heading home to prepare for their upcoming journeys. Reyan gently returned his Dratini to its Poké Ball and began the short walk back to his house. Along the way, he encountered many townsfolk who greeted him warmly and cheered him on.

Reyan was well-known in the community for his hardworking and kind nature. His willingness to help others and his determination to succeed had earned him the admiration of both young and old. Combined with the natural charisma inherited from his parents, along with his striking good looks, he had become a beloved figure in the town—his charm and infectious energy reminding some of a certain straw-hat-wearing pirate from tales of adventure.

The five-minute walk to his home was filled with smiles, encouraging words, and waves of support, making Reyan's heart swell with gratitude for the people who believed in him.

In front of the Sylvaris residence, Reyan stood and observed his home which was a double-story house with cream-colored walls that seemed to glow under the morning sun. Its slanted red-tile roof gave it a classic yet cozy appeal, while the upper floor featured a small balcony with wooden railings, offering a perfect view of the tranquil surroundings. Wooden framed windows punctuated the exterior, their simplicity enhancing the warmth of the home. A sturdy stone path curved gently to a solid wooden door, adorned with a red mat on the doorstep, adding a touch of homely charm.

The backyard was a picture of care and love, with a well-tended garden blooming with colorful flowers and a mix of vibrant vegetable plants. A small pond gleamed in the sunlight, its clear water bordered by a clean stone deck, inviting moments of quiet reflection. To the side, a neat garage mirrored the house with its red-tile roof, completing the serene yet functional property. Enclosed by sturdy stone walls and fronted by a proper gate with a modest mailbox, the house stood as a welcoming sanctuary, embodying both warmth and security.

As he entered through the front door, he saw his mother, Aisha Sylvaris, a beautiful woman in her early 30s. Her long, wavy brown hair was neatly tied back, though a few soft strands escaped to frame her delicate face, which glowed with an inner warmth. Her bright blue eyes sparkled with focus and contentment as she moved with practiced ease over the stove, the morning sunlight streaming through the window to highlight her graceful features.

She wore a crisp white blouse, it's simple design accentuating her natural elegance. The blouse was neatly tucked into light blue jeans, which hugged her slim yet curvy figure, and over this practical attire was a deep blue apron tied snugly at her waist. The rolled cuffs of her jeans revealed slim ankles, and her soft house slippers made the faintest sound against the polished kitchen floor. Her outfit was effortlessly stylish, perfect for her morning routine, and her demeanor exuded both grace and approachability.

The kitchen was alive with the comforting aroma of sizzling eggs, golden pancakes, and freshly brewed tea, the scents mingling in a way that could awaken even the sleepiest household member. Humming softly to herself, Aisha flipped a pancake with practiced precision, her movements smooth and confident. Occasionally, her gaze drifted to the neatly set table, the sunlight dancing over its surface. The thought of sharing this meal with her family, brought a tender smile to her lips, her heart swelling with quiet joy.

Next to the kitchen in the dining room sat Zian Sylvaris, a distinguished man in his late 30s. His sharp, chiseled features were complemented by a neatly trimmed beard, giving him an air of sophistication. His short, dark brown hair was combed back, though a few strands rebelliously fell onto his forehead. Zian's piercing green eyes reflected both intelligence and warmth as he sat at the table, sipping from a steaming cup of coffee.

Dressed casually yet stylishly, Zian wore a fitted charcoal-gray sweater that hinted at his strong build, paired with dark blue jeans and polished brown loafers. A sleek wristwatch glinted on his left hand, and he occasionally glanced at it with a mix of focus and anticipation. Despite his casual attire, Zian exuded an air of authority, a testament to his influential role in the town. His demeanor was one of calm control, tempered by the obvious affection he held for his family.

As Reyan entered the house, he called out cheerfully, "I'm home!"

Aisha turned from the stove, her smile brightening at the sight of her son. "Welcome back, Reyan! Breakfast is almost ready. Why don't you wash up and join us?"

Zian looked up from his coffee, a proud smile spreading across his face. "There's our future Pokémon Master. How was your meeting with Professor Oak?"

Reyan smiled back, setting Dratini's Poké Ball on the dinning table. "It went great! I got my Dratini, Pokédex and some advice for my journey. It's all starting to feel real now."

Aisha wiped her hands on her apron and walked over, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. "We're so proud of you, Reyan. You've worked so hard for this moment. But don't forget to take care of yourself out there, okay?"

"I won't, Mom," Reyan promised, his golden eyes shining with determination. "I'll make you both proud."

Zian chuckled, his voice warm. "You already have, son. But I have no doubt you'll achieve great things. Now, go wash up before your mother gives you her 'cleanliness lecture.'"

Reyan laughed, nodding as he headed to the bathroom to freshen up. The warmth of his home and the love of his parents gave him a renewed sense of purpose. This wasn't just his journey—it was theirs, too. Their support would be the foundation for the incredible adventure that awaited him.

As he washed his hands and splashed water on his face, Reyan looked at himself in the mirror. His handsome features, inherited from his parents, reflected his resolve. "This is it," he whispered to himself. "Time to take the first real step toward my dream."

Returning to the dining room, he joined his parents at the table, savoring the delicious meal Aisha had prepared. The warmth of their home, the laughter shared during breakfast, and the unspoken bond between them filled Reyan with gratitude. He would carry this moment with him as he embarked on the greatest journey of his life.

After breakfast, he went to his bedroom, checked the backpack he readied last night, if every necessary thing was inside, after that he looked at himself in the mirror, ensuring he was ready for the journey ahead. Reyan's reflection stared back at him—a confident young man with determined eyes. His jet-black hair was neatly combed, dark grey eyes eyes, his athletic build hinted at years of hard work, and his outfit, a simple yet stylish ensemble of a dark blue jacket over a white t-shirt and durable black pants, a belt designed to carry pokeballs that suited him perfectly for the adventure awaiting him. A pair of sturdy boots completed the look, designed for long travels and rough terrains.

Satisfied with his appearance, Reyan slung his backpack over his shoulder, the weight a reassuring reminder of the essentials it contained: Poké Balls, potions, repels, camping gear, food supplies, extra pairs of clothes, other essentials items and a few personal keepsakes. His Pokédex was securely tucked into an inner pocket of his jacket, ready to assist him whenever needed.

As he prepared to leave, his gaze shifted to the small desk by his bed, where a framed photo of his family stood. Picking it up, he smiled softly, the image capturing a memory of their happiest times together. He set it down gently, then reached for the small charm his mother had gifted him—a silver pendant in the shape of a crescent moon.

Fastening the pendant around his neck, Reyan took a deep breath, steadying his emotions. He wasn't just stepping out as a Pokémon trainer—he was stepping into a world full of unknown challenges, friendships, and discoveries.

Heading downstairs, he took Dratini's pokeball from the dining and placed it in his belt, then found his parents waiting by the door. Aisha hugged him tightly, her warmth lingering even after she let go. Zian placed a firm hand on his shoulder, his expression filled with pride and encouragement.

"Remember, Reyan," Zian said, his voice steady. "No matter how far you go or what you face, this will always be your home. And we'll always be here for you."

Aisha nodded, her eyes shimmering. "Take care of yourself, and trust in your bond with Dratini. You've worked so hard for this—now go show the world what you're capable of."

Reyan smiled, his heart swelling with emotion. "Thank you, both of you. I'll make you proud."

With those words, he stepped out of the house, the morning sun casting its golden glow over the peaceful town. The cheers of the townsfolk rang in the distance, their encouragement a melody of hope. Reyan tightened his grip on the straps of his backpack and set off, ready to take on the challenges of the vast and exciting Pokémon world.

His journey had officially begun.
