Chapter 2 - Farewell to Pallet Town & Chosen One

Reyan stood on a small hill, gazing at Pallet Town for what might be the last time in a long while. The morning sun bathed the peaceful town in golden light, and he felt a bittersweet tug in his chest. His entire life—fifteen years of memories, struggles, and growth—was rooted in this place. He recalled his earliest memories, the moment he realized he had been reincarnated into this world, crying inconsolably as a baby, mourning the parents he had left behind in his previous life. His new parents, loving but confused, did their best to soothe him, unaware of the profound loss he was processing even as an infant.

At the age of three, Reyan spoke his first words, surprising his parents with his clarity. By five, his curiosity had already set him apart, leading him to dismantle his father's old Pokédex just to see how it worked. But the true gravity of his situation hit him at seven, when a wild Rattata attacked him. The sharp pain of its bite on his foot, the panic, and the desperate rush for medical treatment hammered home a brutal truth—this world was real, and it was dangerous. There were no safety nets, no plot armor.

By ten, he began attending Professor Oak's daily classes, mingling with Ash, Gary, Red, Leaf, and Elaine—an energetic group of budding trainers and mischief-makers. One fateful day, they forgot to lock the gate to Oak's Tauros pen, a mistake that could have ended tragically if Reyan hadn't acted quickly, narrowly saving them from being trampled. It was that day he swore never to rely on luck or fantasy; no system or cheat would come to save him here. So, he started to train himself physically with his father in the forest near the Pallet Town.

At twelve, Reyan delved deeper into the harsh realities of the Kanto region. He learned that Kanto alone spanned nearly 300,000 square miles, filled with untamed wilderness where the law of the jungle reigned supreme. Wild Pokémon were not just friendly creatures waiting to be caught—they were predators, and the mortality rate for new trainers was a staggering 25% annually. People here lived a semi-vegetarian lifestyle, relying on plant-based foods and byproducts from Pokémon.

At fourteen, Reyan immersed himself in the ancient histories of humans and Pokémon, fascinated by the origins of the world he now inhabited. He delved deep into the library of Oak's Lab. learning that today's Pokémon were descendants of Mew. And Human too evolved from an Ancient Pokemon Species whose name seemed to be lost in time.

The more Reyan read, the more he learned about the difficult history between humans and Pokémon. Early on, humans faced attacks from wild Pokémon, and in desperation, they began to worship the Legendary Pokémon like Regigigas, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Etc. These powerful beings offered protection and guidance, slowly ushering humanity into an era of rapid growth and development. However, this rapid progress also led to territorial wars between humans and Pokémon, and in time, the intervention of the Legendary Pokémon became a necessity to mediate peace. Over centuries, humans spread across different regions, establishing new settlements and minimizing the conflicts between themselves and the Pokémon world.

One of the most captivating things Reyan discovered was the rise of the first Pokémon trainers. Thousands of years ago, a few courageous individuals had formed bonds with Pokémon, marking the beginning of a respected, though dangerous, profession. These early trainers proved that humans and Pokémon could coexist and thrive together, fostering a relationship that, while full of danger, was also immensely rewarding.

He learned that the human lifespan in this world was generally around 120 years, but the bond between humans and Pokémon played a crucial role in extending that lifespan. A person who formed a strong, lasting bond with a Pokémon would experience not only an increase in physical strength but also a longer life. This was one of the many reasons why people aspired to become Pokémon trainers, although it wasn't something just anyone could achieve. The cost of raising and maintaining a Pokémon was far too great for an ordinary person to handle. Trainers were an elite group, chosen not only by their passion and talent but also by their ability to afford the lifestyle. The profession required immense dedication, and trainers typically began their journey at the age of fifteen.

Reyan also learned of the theory that each person had an innate compatibility with a specific Pokémon type. While this was widely believed, no one had yet created a device to prove this theory. Reyan had been fortunate, though, as his parents had noticed how the Dragonite belonging to Professor Oak had always shown an unusual friendliness toward him. While other trainers had been treated with indifference by the powerful Dragonite, Reyan had earned the Pokémon's respect and affection. Professor Oak had explained that this was a sign of Reyan's natural compatibility with Dragon-types, which is why his parents had chosen to purchase Dratini from the Black Throne Clan.

His studies also led him to explore the biology of Pokémon, learning that each one had an energy core—a source of power from which they could channel their abilities. Pokémon could absorb energy from the environment or special items, and as they battled and trained, their cores would grow stronger, allowing them to level up, gain experience, and eventually evolve. He discovered that Pokémon, like humans, had reproductive organs, though they were hidden from view unless the Pokémon mated. This was a part of their natural biology that many trainers overlooked, but Reyan had always been curious, absorbing every detail he could find.

The current world or planet— Pokea is a planet nearly identical in size and composition to Earth, yet distinctly unique in its own right. Its diameter is comparable to Earth's, with a diverse range of continents, archipelagos, and islands scattered across its vast waters. The world is divided into five main continents, each home to different Pokémon species, cultures, and natural environments. The regions, much like Earth's continents, feature varied climates and terrains, from lush forests and towering mountains to vast deserts and icy tundras.

The timekeeping system of Pokea mirrors that of Earth, with seconds, hours, days, weeks, months, and years all following a similar structure. The names of the months and days are said to have been derived from ancient civilizations' texts. This connection to the past gives Pokea a rich, historical feel, with remnants of long-forgotten traditions and mysteries still present in the world.

At present, the Pokémon Alliance governs six major regions, each with its own distinct geography, culture, and population of Pokémon. These regions are interconnected, but also independent in some ways, fostering unique challenges and opportunities for both trainers and Pokémon. In addition to the regions, there are various smaller archipelagos and isolated islands that contribute to the complex ecosystem of Pokea.

The Chairman, who holds the highest position in the Pokémon Alliance, acting as the head of the Alliance's leadership and the primary figure for long-term policy decisions. The Chairman is responsible for overseeing the overall direction and strategy of the Pokémon Alliance, ensuring that the needs of all regions are met while maintaining balance between humans and Pokémon.

Alliance's government operates as a democratic republic, with a structure that balances the needs of the people, the Pokémon, and the ever-evolving challenges of the world. At the top of the hierarchy are the President and Vice-President, elected by the people to serve and protect the interests of all. Beneath them, a Council of Members is responsible for drafting laws, maintaining order, and overseeing various aspects of society, including education, trade, and Pokémon welfare.

The government places significant emphasis on the preservation and protection of Pokémon, acknowledging their crucial role in the world. To enforce laws and ensure the safety of both people and Pokémon, each region is protected by a Champion and their respective Elite Four. These powerful trainers serve as the top protectors of their region, maintaining peace, battling threats, and ensuring that the rights of Pokémon are upheld. The Champions, renowned for their incredible strength and bond with Pokémon, also act as leaders of the region's trainers, guiding the next generation and preserving the honor of their region.

A few months before his fifteenth birthday, Reyan's parents called him into their modest living room, their expressions filled with excitement and pride. They told him they had spent a great fortune to buy him a Dratini with green potential from the prestigious Black Throne Clan. The revelation stunned him. Dratini was an incredibly rare Pokémon, and one with green potential—denoting exceptional growth and strength—was even rarer. The sacrifice they had made was not lost on him, and he couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude and affection for his parents. That day he vowed silently to honor their sacrifice by becoming the best trainer he could be.

The day of his final class with Professor Oak was another milestone he would never forget. With a mixture of nerves and excitement, he received his report card. The results were clear—Reyan had achieved first rank among all the students. His dedication, determination, and relentless pursuit of knowledge had paid off. But what surprised him even more was what followed: Oak himself would be his sponsor throughout his trainer journey. The professor promised to take care of any extra Pokémon Reyan couldn't carry with him and provide him with a monthly stipend of 10,000 Pokédollars.

That evening, when Reyan shared the news with his parents, their joy was boundless. They celebrated together, laughter and tears mingling in their small home. His father's proud smile and his mother's tearful embrace were memories etched deeply in his heart. Even now, as he stood on the cusp of his journey, those memories fueled his resolve.

Reyan exhaled slowly, the weight of his memories grounding him. Sharpening his resolve, he took his first step onto Route 1. The dirt path stretched ahead, flanked by lush grasslands and dense forest. The sounds of Pokémon echoed faintly through the trees, blending with the gentle gurgle of a small river that flowed from the Silver Mountain Ranges, winding through the Viridian and Pallet Forests before emptying into the sea near Pallet Town.

Pallet Town was a unique place, a quiet sanctuary under the watchful eye of Professor Oak, the former Kanto Champion. His powerful Pokémon ensured the town's safety, and the Alliance had designated the area a Pokémon reserve. Outsiders couldn't purchase land here unless they married a local, preserving the tranquility of the town.

Viridian City lay 113 miles away, and Reyan estimated it would take three days of walking eight hours a day to reach it. Such a journey would be grueling on Earth, but humans in this world were naturally more resilient. Still, Reyan had to be cautious. His Dratini, coiled around his shoulders like a shimmering blue scarf, was a rare treasure, and the last thing he wanted was to attract Team Rocket's attention. He needed to catch a common Pokémon for now, something reliable yet unremarkable.

As he walked, Reyan scanned the grass for signs of Pokémon. He had decided to target a Spearow. Its evolution into Fearow was faster and more practical than Pidgey's, offering higher speed and attack power. However, he remained wary of stirring a flock of Spearow, mindful of Ash's early misfortune in the anime.

After an hours of searching, Reyan spotted a lone Spearow pecking at the ground. He crouched low, careful not to startle it, and whispered, "This is it."

"Dratini, you ready?" he whispered. Dratini lifted its head, eyes sparkling with anticipation.

"Spearow's ours. Let's make this quick. Dratini, Wrap!"

Dratini shot from Reyan's shoulders with incredible speed, coiling around Spearow before it could react. The Spearow squawked in surprise, thrashing wildly but unable to break free.

"Now, Thunder Wave!" Reyan commanded.

Dratini's body shimmered with electricity, sending a paralyzing shock through Spearow. The wild bird stiffened, unable to move.

"Finish it, Twister!" Reyan's voice was calm but decisive.

Dratini summoned a swirling gust of wind, small but fierce, lifting Spearow into the air and slamming it back down. The Spearow lay motionless, weakened but conscious. Reyan threw a Poké Ball, and with a few shakes, it locked with a click.

He picked it up, grinning. "Welcome to the team, Spearow."

Night fell quickly, and Reyan found a clearing to set up camp. He pitched his tent and used Repel to ward off any curious Pokémon. The crackle of the fire cast a warm glow, and Dratini curled up beside him, its soft breathing blending with the night sounds. After eating a simple meal, Reyan stretched out in his sleeping bag, exhaustion tugging at him as he drifted into sleep.

Reyan stirred himself awake, finding himself enveloped in a world unlike any he had ever seen. Mist rolled across the ground in thick waves, stretching endlessly in every direction. The silence was eerie, broken only by the soft whistle of a cold breeze. Suddenly, a blast of cold air tickled his ear. He jolted, goosebumps racing over his skin.

He turned sharply—and froze.

Standing before him was a woman of ethereal beauty, her very presence radiating an otherworldly aura. Her long silver hair shimmered like silk in the faint, otherworldly glow. Her golden eyes glowed with a playful yet piercing intensity, and her delicate features seemed carved by the hands of the divine. Reyan found himself entranced, his heart racing uncontrollably.

Only when he bit his lip hard enough to draw blood did he regain his composure. He forced himself to speak, his voice steady despite the tremor in his chest.

"Who… who are you? And where am I?"

The woman's lips curved into a teasing smile. "Dear Reyan," she said, her voice a melodic whisper, "shouldn't you ask why you are here?"

Reyan narrowed his eyes, his confusion mounting. "Why?"

Her expression softened, but mischief still danced in her gaze. "You see, my creator, Arceus, has fallen asleep in the Hall of Origin," she explained, her voice like the chiming of distant bells. "He left me with a task—to guard this realm from invaders. Souls not of this dimension."

Reyan stiffened, realizing the implications. "So… I'm an intruder?"

The woman chuckled, a sound both sweet and unsettling. "Yes. But I've decided not to expel you." She stepped closer, the mist swirling around her feet. "After all… I've read your memories." Her eyes twinkled with delight. "Instead, I've chosen you."

Reyan's mind spun. "Chosen me for what?"

"To become my vessel," she said simply, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. "You'll carry a fragment of my consciousness. You see, I cannot descend to the world of Pokea freely… but with you, I can."

"What?" Reyan's voice broke, disbelief clear in his tone.

She leaned in, her breath warm against his skin, and gently pressed her finger to his forehead. "Hush now," she whispered with a mischievous smile.

A surge of warmth spread from where she touched him, and his vision blurred. The last thing he heard before darkness swallowed him was her soft, lilting voice.

"Let's see where this adventure takes us… my chosen one."

Reyan jolted awake, heart racing. The morning sun was rising, but something was off. He scrambled out of his tent, blinking in disbelief. The landscape was different. The towering trees of Viridian Forest loomed in the distance—he was near Viridian City.

"How…?" he muttered, glancing at his map on his pokedex. He had covered over 75 miles in one night, an impossible feat. His mind raced, replaying the dreamlike encounter.

Dratini lay curled beside him, undisturbed, as if nothing had happened. But Reyan knew better. He touched his forehead where the woman had poked him, her playful voice still echoing in his mind.

"Mysterious… and dangerous," he muttered to himself.

He stood, eyes fixed on the road ahead, knowing that this journey had become far more perilous—and intriguing—than he ever expected.
