Diane was sitted in front of the mirror, while Dorothy brushed her hair. "My goodness, my lady, the tips of your hair are extremely curly- just like your mother's, they do get tangled so terribly." Dorothy complained, as she fiddled with the hair brush. "Well, at least I tool after my mother in this aspect." Diane mused, staring at her reflection. "What does my lady mean?" Dorothy inquired. "Whenever I look at you, I am reminded of lady Myla, both of you have the very same temperament, and you both have hearts of gold, and you are intelligent too, what other good genes could she have possibly given you?" Dorothy said, demanding a reply. "I wish I had her green eyes, at least." Diane said. "What is wrong with yours?" Dorothy asked, lifting her brow. "The color of my eyes are the exact same shade as father's, and I utterly resent that man." She said, her voice cold. Afterall, it was because of him that her mother wasn't by her side today. "My lady has beautiful eyes. So don't hate them, you miss just how they sparkle when you get excited." Dorothy said, as she began to braid the hair. "Stop flattering me." Diane said, with a wry smile. "I am not. If you don't believe Me, just ask my lord." Dorothy said with a smile. "Why are you bringing him into the picture?" Diane asked her, with a light frown on her face. "Well, you are going to see him afterall, so.." "So what? I only want to say hello to him, nothing more, since he couldn't even wish me a good morning this morning." She said, while she pouted angrily. "Well, you are quite a deep sleeper, he probably didn't want to disturb you." Dorothy replied, defending him. "You always take his side." Diane said. "Because he Is my master." Dorothy simply stated. "Forget it. It is pointless talking to you." Diane said, as she stood up, while straightening out the creases on her dress. "Do you need me to escort you to his office?" Dorothy teased. Diane turned back to face her, the scowl on her face more evident this time. "Absolutely not!"
Meanwhile, Diego was in his office as usual, speaking to Egiel, who had somewhat become his secretary. "Now these files have to..." He was interrupted by a knock on the door. A slight smile played out on his face. "Come in." He said. And Diane who was wearing a blue dress, which further complemented her blue eyes, elegantly strode inside. "You knew I was coming, didn't you." She said, as she took her seat. "Is that how you tell your husband good morning?" Diego observed her with interest, placing his hands on his chin. "Good morning!" Diane said, making it more that obvious that she was faking that smile. "What is the frown for? Did someone upset you?" Diego asked, wondering what she could possibly be up to this time. "No one. I just came to see you." Diane said. "Since all you do all day is to suffocate yourself in the office." She said, through gritted teeth. "I heard that, you know." Diego said. "And I don't care!" Diego decided to let it go for now, since she obviously woke up on the wrong side of bed. There was a brief moment of silence, and that was when Diane noticed Egiel. "Who is this?" Diane asked turning to Diego. "This is Egiel. He was the one that brought the bowl of warm water that evening." Diego explained, as he flipped a file over. "My apologies, my lady. I was discourteous." Egiel said, as he bowed. "I didn't want to trouble her ladyship, because I observed that she was In a sour mood." Egiel continued. "There is no need to apologize." Diane said to him. "I am supposed to be thanking you, actually, for the service you rendered that night." Diane said, with a smile. Egiel Also returned the smile. "Egiel." Diego called suddenly. "Yes my lord?" "Do you mind excusing us for a moment?" Diego asked. Diane was going to say that his presence was not an intrusion, but the look Diego gave Egiel made her shut her mouth. "Very well then. This servant will take his leave." Egiel said, as he walked towards the door.
"Why did you send him off? I thought he was assisting you?" Diane said In hushed tones, as soon as Egiel left. "You were being to chatty with him." He simply stated. "I have a right to talk to whoever wait, were you jealous?" She asked him, a mischievous grin hanging on the corner of her lips, which honestly, didn't suit her. "What is there to be jealous of?" Diego inquired, his face deadpan serious. "Besides, since I drove away my assistant because of you, you will have to replace him." He continued. "I never asked you to send him away, though!" Diane revolted.
Contrary to her wish, Diane was indeed helping Diego out in the office. "I never asked for this." She grumbled, as she stretched her hand to a cabinet to pick up a file. "Look at the bright side, at least we get to spend some time together." Diego said, as she placed the file on his table. "True." Diane mumbled, as she sat opposite him. "Besides, I have something to speak with you a about." Diego said, as his already serious face became even more stern. "Can you not make that face, it makes me feel that a calamity has befallen us all." Diane said worriedly. "What is it about?" "Dorothy. She.." "Dorothy, what about her?" Diane interrupted, nearly standing. "Would you calm down?" Diegio asked, overwhelmed by Diane's attitude. "You are the one that is getting me all hyped up!" Diane exclaimed. "There is something she and Alice are required to do, and I wouldn't be able to tell you if you don't take your seat." Diego said, feeling that this was a bad timing to discuss about this. Diane sat down, albeit reluctantly. "You see, every servant here within the confines and boundaries of this building, knows about magic." Diegi began slowly. "Yes?" Diane gave him the affirmation to continue. "Now, the families implemented this-in order to prevent them from running their mouths off, deliberately or not, they are to swear a blood oath." He said, pausing for a brief moment, before he continued. "Now the thing is, this oath, it is going to take their lives if they err." Diego concluded, scrutinizing Diane's facial expression. Well, it seems like he was worried for nothing, because Diane still looked tranquil. "So you want them to swear the oath, is that it?" Diane reaffirmed. "Exactly." "I am okay with it, but have you informed them?" Diane asked. "Hold on, you are okay with it?" Diego was delightfully puzzled. It seemed like he was ready to talk his head off, all in the name of convincing her. "If they are okay with it, they are trust worthy after all. Even if you didn't bring this up, I am confident that they wouldn't spill a bean." She said, with a slight smile on her face. "I did tell them." Diego said. "And?" "They were fine with it, so long as they don't get separated from you." He added, with a shrug of his shoulders. "Really? I was thinking that they swore unwavering loyalty to you or something- not Alice, but maybe Dorothy. She is always taking your side." Diane said. Diego threw his head back and laughed. "My goodness Diane, you are funny. Or should I call you Jasmine instead?" He asked. "Your choice." Diane quietly replied. "So, you have a problem with that?" He asked, until he noticed that she was still staring at him. "Hmm? What's the matter?" He inquired "You should try laughing a bit more." Diane said frankly. "There is nothing particularly amusing.." Diego began "Then I will amuse you." Awkwardness triumphed for a while. "Honestly, what am I going to do with you." Diego said, as he rested his chin on his hand.
Evening soon came, and Diane was left yawning. She wondered how this man could have this much stamina, working from dawn till dusk. All those files were making her dizzy and giving her a headache, and she had nothing better to do, having assisted Diego. "Can we take a stroll In the garden?" Diane asked, giving Diego puppy-dog eyes. "I am not done yet." Diego simply replied. Diane proceeded to place her head on the table, stretch both hands out, and groaned. "You are such a workaholic, Diego." She complained. "I get told that a lot." Diego replied. Seeing that Diego was unyielding, she got up, and began to toy around with the files in the cabinet. "Leave those files the way they are, and don't disoragnise them." Diego warned, his eyes trailing her. "I am bored." Diane whined. "And the chair is too hard." She added. "If you are looking for somewhere soft to sit, then come to my lap." Diego jokingly said. What he didn't expect was for Diane to take it seriously-she actually came! And.. also made the distance between the chair and table to be rather small. "Let me see what you are looking at." Diane said, as she flipped through the documents, not realizing what she was doing to Diego. That part was.. begging to be freed, and she was sitting right on top of it. He understood the fact that she was naive but.. This was pure torture!
