Diane on the other hand, was still seated comfortably, unaware of the internal war that Diego was fighting right now. She was rather staring at the document that Diego is, or rather was holding. "Twenty shekels of Silver, hang on.. Twenty shekels? Isn't this too much for an average person?" She pondered out loud. Because she couldn't turn around to look at him, she proceeded to raise her head up, in order to catch a glimpse of his face. "Um.. Diego, are you okay? Your face is a bit red." She said. "A bit?" Diego asked, as he could pratically feel the tip of his ears burning hotly. He was previously covering his face with one hand, which he removed only when Diane spoke to him. His hormones were raging lose right now, and there was really nothing he could do except to-supress it. "I will only be surprised if my neck isn't a tinge of red as well." He replied, his voice slightly hoarse. "Honestly, are you telling me that you feel nothing down there?" He asked. Diane blinked. "Where?" She asked him. "Was I supposed to feel anything before?" She asked. Seeing Diane's eyes which sparkled with innocence and curiosity, Diego looked away. "Forget about it." He mumbled silently. "As I was saying- don't you think twenty shekels is a bit too much?" She asked him. "Twenty shekels is just fine. I can't bring the price lower down than this, the farmers will run at a loss." He said, as he took the document from her. "What was the initial price?" She asked him curiously. "Sixty." Diego said, glancing at her from the corner of his eyes. Diane gaped in shock. "I brought the price this low so that single parents will be able to cope, even the lowest paying job will give you thirty shekels in a week." Diego explained. "Well, they are not like us that could put food on our tables whenever we want." Diane said. "Sometimes, I wonder what is like to be a commoner. At least, I will be able to get married to who I actually love. That life seems calm and serene." She fantasized, with her eyes closed, while resting her head on Diego's chest. "And be struggling to place food in your mouth, at the advent of every day." Diego said, bringing her back to his senses. Diane raised her head to look at him, while he gazed down at her. "We don't get to choose the lives we are born into, Diane.. Do you know how many of them will ditch that life for better living conditions if they could?" He asked her. "Well, I guess you are right." Diane said, though she looked a bit downcast. "Do you think I was destined to meet you?" Was the next thing she heard in her ears. "What?" She asked, startled, turning to look at him. "If I wasn't I would have never met you. Even if we do not end up as lovers, I will still say that we were destined to know each other." She said. "Besides, I would say that magic is one thing that connects us together. And we are friends afterall, right? Who knows, maybe this is what people call fate, the inevitable." She added. "You try to understand me, and you give me freedom. Honestly, I could think of no better man to be my husband than you." Diane said, with a slight smile on her face. "So I should be thanking you for coming into my life again and again, Diego." She said, as she looked up at him. The way her eyes sparkled whenever she smiled was one thing, but there was something else that made his heart skip a beat. Those eyes... That seemed so pure yet so naive, those crystal blue eyes that one could get mesmerized and lost in, was looking at him with quite an affectionate gaze at the moment. He wasn't mistaken, he was quite certain that she was looking at him. Diego smiled at her as well. "Why don't we take that evening stroll that you longed for so much?"
The sun was sinking down at the time they stepped out, the huge orange orb dyeing everything red as it retired below the horizon. Diane left Diego behind and skipped about like a delighted child. "Everything is so pretty, Diego!" She said, as she spread out her arms, her blue dress fluttering in the wind. "Indeed it is." Diego replied, as he stood behind her, watching her hair and dress dance graciously In the warm breeze of Summer. She turned around to look at him, shooting him a somewhat angry glare. "Now do you see the reason why I insisted we come out sooner? We could have missed this glorious sight." She said her brows furrowed. "My bad." Diego said, as he massaged his neck with his right hand. "So, should I add this to my schedule as well?" He asked. "Add what?" Diane said, clueless. "Watching the sun set together." Diego said. Diane eyes sparkled In anticipation. "If it is okay with you." She replied simply, but Diego was certain that She was looking forward to it. Not too long after, Egiel could be seen walking towards them, holding the harness of a horse that looked darker than the night itself. "This?'" Diane asked, as she stared at the horse that was even larger than Sapphire. "Well my lord, I saw you taking a stroll, so I was thinking." Egiel began. "It is fine. I normally don't take evening strolls unless I want to ride, afterall." Diego said, stroking the horse's forehead. "It's been a while."
While Diego was pre occupied in talking to Egiel, Diane cautiously approached the horse. The horse snorted as a way of warning, and took some steps back. Diane, on the other hand, who was as curious as she was naive, continued to approach it. "It's okay." She said, as she came to close proximity with it, before managing to touch it's forehead. The horse gave a low grunt, before relaxing itself, letting Diane to stroke it as she pleased. "Diane.. are you okay?" Diego asked her, as soon as he saw her. "Yes, why wouldn't I be?" She said, as she scratched the back of the horse's ear. "It was My fault for thinking you will be by my side, keeping an eye on you is more gruesome than keeping an eye on Leonia." He said. "What is that supposed to mean?" She asked angrily. "Egiel, can you take him back.." Diego began, but Diane interjected. "Take who back? Can't he stay for a little while longer?" Sje asked. "Well you see my lady, this is a wild horse, not fully domesticated yet, and that was one of the reasons why my lord was worried about you." He explained. "He only recognises Egiel and I, so I got quite the surprise to see that he actually let you caress him." Diego said. "Honestly my lady, how did you do it?" I couldn't even approach him for weeks." Egiel said, the admiration clear In His eyes. "Nothing much, really- I guess I just have a thing with animals." Diane said. "So Diego, since he is already here, Can he?" She said, reluctant to finish her sentence. Diego looked at her, and when he did, he sighed helplessly, as words weren't needed to understand what it was she wanted.
Egiel returned to the stable alone, humming a pleasant tune. "What is making you so happy?" Lisa asked, nearly giving Egiel a fright. "Why are you still here?" Egiel asked her. "You are supposed to be with the rest of the maids, If someone finds out that you are here, do gou know how much trouble you will get into?" Egiel asked. "I know." Lisa said, as she relaxed her back on the walls. "But master can redeem me, if he so pleases." Egiel said, her gold eyes flashing as she smiled. "Beside, where is the horse?" She asked him. "You didn't come with it, Is it maybe with master?" She asked. "Yes, Master and our Lady is taking a ride on it." Egiel said. Lisa arched her brow. "Is that so? Since when did Master leave his office so frequently?" She mused. "It all began Since Lady Diane showed up." Egiel said. "Honestly, I hope she can change his life for the better." He added.
In the meantime, while Egiel and Lisa were busy gossiping amongst themselves, both Master and Lady were enjoying the evening breeze. "He is so gentle." Diane said, as the horse trotted slowly. "Have you named him yet?" She asked. "No, not yet. But you may name him if you please." Diego said. Diane was sitted at his front, and had her hands on the harness, while Diego had his larger hands clasped around hers, his jacket wrapped around to keep the chills away. "How about.. Orion." Diane said, after careful consideration. "Very well, Orion it is then." Diego nodded. "Remember, when we are having an audience with the king, he may ask you to demonstrate your powers." He said. "Yes, yes, you said it so many times already! Geez, I am Not a little kid!" Diane complained. "I am only taking the necessary repercussions." Diego said, as Diane yawned, and leaned her full weight against him. "Feeling Sleepy already?" He asked, when he noticed her eyelids drooping. "I guess." She responded quietly. Typical Diane, never giving a definite reply because she was still savoring the moment. "I will steer him around now." Diego said, although he was quite certain that he wasn't heard.
