Nate's head was down, his eyes clouded with tears and his hand was handcuffed. He sat in a small chair before a small table in a dark room. After he was arrested before his in-law's house, he clamored to see his dead parents but his pleas fell on deaf ears.
How could his parents have died? He wasn't as worthless as them because they possessed powers they could use to save themselves. Who was powerful enough to kill them?
However, Nate had no answers, he had been locked up in that dark room for hours with no sign of anybody. A few minutes later, the door opened and Nate shot up to his feet, feeling hopeful.
"Please…" He stared at the two police officers who walked in with a pleading gaze. "Can I see my parents? I really want to see them and~"
"Why?" One of the police officers cut him off. "Didn't you see them when you killed them?"
"I didn't kill my parents!" Nate banged his hand-cuffed hands on the table and the police flinched in shock. He moved toward them, frantically, shouting, "How could I have killed my parents when I haven't even seen them for five days?"
"Step back!" The police officers shouted as Nate continued to approach them. However, Nate didn't stop, and the officers were forced to point their guns at him.
"Step back, you motherfucker! Or we are going to shoot you right in the skull!"
"I don't care!" Nate yelled. What more could they do to him after they told him about his parent's death? He was devastated and the officers were making matters worse by not listening to him.
"Please…" he went down on his knees and started to crawl to the officers, however, in the next second, they shot him, straight in his legs.
Bang!
Bang!!
The sounds of bullets echoed in the dark room and Nate fell to the floor groaning in pain. His body shook tremendously as blood spilled out of his open wound. He looked at the officers with tears and fury in his eyes but he couldn't even utter a word to them because of the pain he was feeling.
Slowly, one of the officers bent down to his level and whispered, "There is no use fighting this, Nate Collins, all evidence recovered at the scene points against you and you said you haven't seen your parents for five days, huh?"
"Haha…" The police officer chuckled mockingly, "Well, your wife confirmed that you were at your parent's house before you went over to see her parents talking about how you want to divorce her."
"So, not only are you a psychopath who killed his parents, you hate your wife as well?"
Nate's eyes widened in shock as he heard that, he shook his head to deny the officer's claims. Alice had lied against him, that devilish woman was throwing him under the bus. Nate attempted to speak but the officer quickly shut his mouth.
"There is no use defending yourself, you will be sentenced in court in three weeks." As the officer spewed those words, he let out a loud and mocking laughter and soon, he left with his colleague. Nate, still lying on the bare floor, watched their backs in horror and pain. He felt his life crumbling before his very eyes.
____
"By the power vested in me, I hereby sentence you Nate Collins to death by electrocution. And since you have no power, neither are you gifted, you will not be handed over to the council." The judge banged his gavel and sealed the sentence. And on the other side of the court, Nate looked on in nothingness, there was no joy, no pain, or sadness in his eyes.
He didn't care whether he was taken to the council to be killed or not, anyway, they had abandoned and ridiculed him since he was a child for having no supernatural gift. In other words, Nate was considered a plain human and ostracized by the council.
He was simply dead inside. By now, he was sitting in a wheelchair as his legs had not healed from the injury he got. Two police officers started to wheel him out of the court, to take him to the execution ground. He didn't resist and he wasn't scared. He had accepted his fate and he just wanted to go be with his parents wherever they were.
His wife, now ex-wife, Alice looked at him from one end of the court with a smile on her face and in that moment, Nate met her eyes. He looked at her and there was a flash of hatred in his eyes. He wanted to tear her smile apart but there was nothing he could do until he was wheeled out of the courtroom.
Three hours later, he was being strapped to the electric chair. His head put in the headgear.
"250 volts of electricity will be passed." The operator announced and the police officers present affirmed.
Nate closed his eyes hearing that, bracing himself for what was about to come.
"50 volts."
Immediately, Nate felt a grappling feeling of electric shock running through his veins.
"100 volts."
Next, he felt, his body humming with energy and he didn't feel pain.
"150 volts."
His eyes snapped open, as they glowed in the almost dark electric room.
"200 volts."
His body started to shake, as sparks flew behind his fingers, and even the operator was starting to notice that something was wrong. Nate should have been convulsing so badly, but then the operator convinced himself that Nate would never be able to survive 250 volts.
"250 volts."
At this point, Nate's body shook tremendously, the sparks between his fingers increased, traveling up his arms and then forming like a whirlwind of electric sparks with his eyes glowing so bright.
"What's going on?" The operator and the officers were shocked.
"I thought he wasn't gifted? He definitely is! That bastard, Nathan tricked us!" The officers were shocked and they started to step back in fear. The operator was already reaching for the door.
On the other hand, the sparks around Nate were unstable and he couldn't even control them, as he wasn't even aware of why this was happening to him. The straps that held him to the electric chair, flew off the chair, releasing his arms.
As his arms shot forward, the sparks flew off his hand, going straight at the officers and the operator who were already getting out of the room.
"Ahhhh!!" Screams of agony filled the dark electric room and there was a loud rumble of thunder in the sky as the sky turned dark.
Nate fell off the chair, looking at the burnt bodies before him but he couldn't move as his body was still humming with electricity. However, a figure suddenly walked into the room, standing over the burnt bodies.
Nate's eyes went dim as he weakly opened his mouth, "Who… who are you? Help me…"
