Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: New Players and Two Weeks

"Cataclysmic Realms the game rumored to revolutionize the world."

"Countless hype has been built around the game promising new gaming experience that has never been seen before."

"Game claimed to redefine the limit of gaming."

"The company has teased the game for years, and it's now being released."

Countless news and articles talked about the game, which has been rumored to be in development for decades. With much hype, especially after the Open Beta whetting the appetite of countless gamers.

The game was finally being released!

Countless people ordered VR Capsules, the only way to enjoy and play the game. Getting inside the capsule, they booted up and launched the game. For most of the people, this was the first time logging into...

Cataclysmic Realm.

They were greeted with a unique experience, they fought and defeated many monsters while leveling up, as they completed countless quests.

Not all players started in the same place though, as they were spread across the continent. Unlike the Open Beta players who all started at the same town.

With the opening of the game and the arrival of players, it brought quite a chaotic time.

...

"The year is 1120 in the New Gods calendar."

"Countless humanoids have appeared in the continent of Solvaria, they act strange and behave weirdly. Countless forces are concerned about them, as they show abnormal growth of strength. Not only that, they seem to have a weird way of communicating with each other, and they can identify their kind with just a mere glance at each other. Countless forces have taken them under their wings, others have decided to imprison and study them, while some adopt a wait-and-see attitude."

The writer paused, gathering his thoughts before continuing.

"I believe it is best if we tried to use these new humanoids, as a horrifying study has been found about them. They are immortal. No matter how you kill them, they will always revive. If we can mobilize their strength, the revival of the lord will be guaranteed. Not only that, they seem to be quite obedient, as a few keywords and sentences can guarantee their loyalty and cooperation. Studies haven't found the answers to this yet. Please consider the proposal lord Cardinal."

Sealing the letter with care, the writer, cloaked in shadowy black robes, handed it to a waiting subordinate. Commanding the subordinate to take it to the cardinal, while the rest continued with their current plan.

In the writer's hand was a black key that oozed corruption and evil.

This was a precious artifact once wielded by their lord, the Black Emperor. Foreseeing his eventual downfall and death, he entrusted it to his followers as a legacy of his power and a key plan for his resurrection.

Its name was the Key of Corruption.

The key possessed the ability to open anything, as long as it could be opened, including the realms that plagued the continent. However, it held a severe drawback, any user other than its original master, the Black Emperor, would inevitably succumb to its corrupting influence turning them into husks of their former selves.

Looking at the screwballs that were jumping around and chatting happily. He couldn't help but think of himself as a genius.

He hasn't received confirmation yet, but he still thought of himself as a genius. Using these screwballs, they didn't have to waste their men's precious lives, as they could use these screwballs instead who would obediently open the realms for them. Not caring about their lives at all.

Well, it was not like they needed to care for their lives, as they were immortals.

These were the humanoids that he had been writing about. They looked just like humans, it's just their brans seemed to have a few screw looses, but they would obediently do any tasks given to them.

Praising himself he ordered one of them to open the gate that was in front of them.

Unlike the normal opening of a dungeon, where people could enter through a one-way door. The key would allow for the monsters inside the dungeons to also exit through the door, making it a two-way door.

Little did he know, that his actions were being constantly posted about in the player forums.

That's right. The people that they had been talking about were the players. It has been two weeks since the release of the game, and countless players have been exploring and leveling up.

This group of players was bragging about how they were part of a super rare and unique quest in the player forums.

Talking about the various things that they had been rewarded with. Albeit at the cost of their lives, but what was the worth of their lives? Basically nothing.

It was not only these players that had stumbled onto unique quests though. Countless other players have started guilds throughout the continent. The Swamp of Darkness, which hosted Hale's dungeon, was actually in the south.

The situation had been developing quite well.

As players leveled up, the average of the players in the south was about 9. With a few outliers being the ones who played in the Open Beta. They were ahead of their peers.

A lot of players have already realized the importance of their attribute points and classes. Countless guides on the player forums already detailed which attribute points to invest in, depending on the classes that they wanted to choose.

Currently, three guilds dominate the south, all are run by players who take the game quite seriously.

These three guilds were: Alcohol in My Veins, Twinkling Night, and the Legion of Ruin. Actually, the last guild had to change its name from the Legion of Doom to the Legion of Ruin after realizing that it had already been trademarked.

Currently, these guilds are in an intense race with each other.

The reason why?

It was on the issue of who would be the first to conquer the Dungeon of Noxious.

During the first week of the game being released, not many players visited the dungeon because they were still low-level. But ever since they got classes, countless groups have raided the dungeon, all failing miserably.

Not only that, people have found that the dungeon hosted unique classes that couldn't be found on the main continent.

Making it a very precious dungeon.

So the guilds were in a race between who would take the honor to pop its cherry.

A very recognizable figure, Boundless Plates, was shouting and yelling in the meeting of the guild Alcohol in My Veins. Talking about how he would get revenge and redeem his legacy.

The other players tuned out most of his yellings as they discussed their plan.

...

Hale was swimming in the massive windfalls that he had been getting over the past two weeks. While paying attention to the player forums at all times. A couple of posts caught his attention.

Like how there was a group of NPCs who were causing dungeon outbreaks and the unique classes inside his dungeon.

Of course, the only reason why the players even knew about the plague classes, was because he directed a few specific players to it. Wanting them to spread and talk about it on the player forums, so more people would come to his dungeon.

His plan worked, as the increase in raids for his dungeon had increased significantly ever since players found out about the fact that they could get a unique class from his dungeon.

The increase in raids also meant that he had completed all of the missions already.

[Defend your dungeon 5 times.]

[Reward: Swamp Giant x1]

[Defend your dungeon 10 times. ]

[Reward: Poisonous Miasma x1]

Not only that, he had a lot of dungeon points.

[Dungeon Points: 13200]

The only thing that hadn't changed was his reputation, it was still at 5. But, he believed that this would change soon.

'It seems that the first major event is about to begin. With countless dungeon breaks happening, it wouldn't be suspicious if I started sending out the dark elves to cause chaos. It would be a good opportunity for me to spread about my name and the dungeon.'

'It's also a good chance to complete the new missions that I have been given.'

[Conquer a foreign dungeon (Tier 1)]

[Reward: 10000 Dungeon Points]

[Reach a reputation of 30]

[Reward: Plague Cultists x5]

[Destroy a Novice Town]

[Reward: Plague Doctor's Mansion x1]

All the rewards increased greatly compared to the previous missions.

'But before I do anything, let me play with the guilds first. It'll be a good way, to spread my reputation among the players even more.'

Licking his lips, he wondered which of the three major guilds, would be the first to raid his dungeon. He hoped that they could at least see the feet of the boss, none of the players had ever been able to see the boss of his dungeon yet. Leaving him kind of disappointed.

Not only that, he had been eyeing something lately, which is why he hadn't spent his dungeon points.

[Floor 2]

[Cost: 15000 Dungeon Points]

A dungeon's tier could be determined by the amount of floors that they had, technically he was a tier 1 dungeon, but the strength of his dungeon didn't correlate to those of a normal tier 1 dungeon.

With the purchase of a second floor, he could customize and design a new area, opening countless possibilities for him.

He had many ideas about what he wanted the second floor to be like.

But all of this relied on dungeon points.

'Hopefully, the major guilds can come quickly, the harvest will be great.'
