I didn't know why but I always liked looking up at the sun.
It was nice and warm when I went outside.
The light beamed down and always made my heart feel warm.
Yet, when I wanted to see the sun, its light warned me.
That it would hurt my eyes.
That it is dangerous.
I guess that's just how it is.
I just wished that I could embrace the sun like it embraced me.
*ring ring ring!*
*ring ring ring!*
"Ah, it's another call."
My phone said [bff]
I quickly picked it up and answered.
"I'm sorry for not picking up!"
On the other side I heard someone playfully laugh.
"Hahaha, yeah you better be sorry! Pfft, hahahaha!"
I sighed lightly with reddened cheeks and looked at my phone.
"Please stop laughing. I'm trying my best."
"Yeah, yeah I get it. Now stop saying sorry. It makes you sound pitiful."
I didn't really know how to react and just stared absentmindedly at my phone.
"Wow, I can feel you staring from all the way here."
"H-how did you know?!"
I was very shocked. She predicted exactly what I did without even seeing me.
"Jeez, you're just predictable. Anyway I gotta go. Sleep is calling me."
I stared at my phone for a while.
"Got it. Good night."
"Yeah, good luck with today. Let's hope a miracle happens."
*beep, beep.*
The call ended like that.
I sighed lightly and went out of bed.
I brushed my teeth and changed clothes.
Now I was ready for the day ahead of me.
The sun was shining brightly in the sky as it pierced the window of a certain coffee shop.
Inside that cafe multiple people came and went.
Some were by the window, some were chatting with their friends on the phone and some were simply enjoying themselves while drinking coffee.
Nonetheless everyone could agree that it was a nice break from reality.
"Could I get a coffee with that nice looking cake?"
I quickly realized that I had been daydreaming and quickly started taking the order.
"Yes, your order will arrive quickly. Oh, will you eat here or take it out to go?"
The nice looking lady thought for a while.
"I would like to have it here. It's always so nice to listen to the music while sipping coffee. Do you know where I can find it?"
"Yes, I can give you a QR code. I made it myself."
I took something from under the counter and handed it over.
"Thank you."
I nodded briefly and started preparing the coffee.
I clicked a few buttons and coffee started pouring out of the machine shortly thereafter.
I went and grabbed a slice of cake from the tray and handed both to the nice looking lady.
"There you go. Please enjoy."
The nice looking lady briefly looked at me and said something surprising.
"You seem to have a lot on your mind. If you keep hiding it you'll eventually burnout. Take care of yourself."
I flinched slightly and the nice looking lady happily took her slice and coffee.
"Thanks.."
I could only watch her go to a seat. My words came out too late.
The moon shone brightly in the sky.
It was merely a reflection of the sun but it shone brilliantly.
You could look at it without any pain. The moonlight gently illuminated the earth with its light that it borrowed from the sun.
On nights like these I often thought of how he was doing.
"He's probably daydreaming like always."
I sighed to myself and closed my eyes.
"So, that's what you came here to tell me?"
I nodded embarrassed.
One of my classmates sighed lightly.
"I know it's embarrassing for you but practically everyone knows you're in love with her. It became obvious when we entered high school."
My cheeks reddened even more in embarrassment.
"What? You knew?"
My classmate nodded and took a sip of his sweetened tea.
"Yup, I recommend confessing. The worst that could happen is probably…."
I quickly stopped him and shook my head.
"Don't jinx it. Anyway, when should I confess?"
I stared at my phone silently.
There three letters were shown, "bff."
"Go search for the weather in her area maybe? If it's raining it would probably lower your chances."
Then an idea struck me.
"Thanks for the advice! I'll buy you some more tea next time we meet!"
"You better keep your promise."
I waved goodbye as I ran home.
I ran to my room and opened my computer.
"Ah, work is boring without anyone to talk to."
I was currently on my morning shift.
"Hey, how's work here?"
A man came up to me and asked.
"It's alright. I get to meet new people every day and it's a new experience."
I loosened my hair and tied it back.
"Hmm, did you have a boyfriend back home?"
The man asked.
"Huh? What? No? I didn't have a boyfriend. I've always been single."
I felt a little flustered and shook my head.
"Hmm, I thought you did because of your looks, but I guess not. It did seem like you were thinking about someone. I guess it was my mistake."
The man apologized briefly before turning away.
"No don't worry about it."
I looked at my phone.
The wallpaper was a selfie of me and my friend.
"Oh, it's time to start work."
I saw the time and set down my phone.
"I got it! I know the perfect time!"
I said excitedly at my classmate.
"Uh huh, I guess your week long journey has come to an end."
He smiled softly and seemed saddened.
"Hmm?"
I looked at him a little confused.
"Ah, it's just interesting seeing you're finally gonna confess after all this time."
My classmate said wiping off a fake tear while sipping tea.
"You just liked the tea right?"
"Dang, caught me."
I laughed lightly and placed my card on the table.
I wanted to show my gratitude to my cl- friend.
"Thanks for helping me and giving me tips. You get one free desert."
His eyes started shining and he grinned.
"You won't regret it right?"
"Probably not. Depends on what happens tomorrow."
*ring ring ring!*
*r-
"Wow, for once you called first?"
I picked up my phone from the table.
This time it was he who called first.
"Yep! Hey wanna go for a walk?"
My head tilted slightly from confusion.
"I'm sorry?"
"A walk, of course we could video chat if you want to."
I chuckled slightly and agreed because I needed some fresh air.
"Alright, so where are we going?"
I asked without thinking and realized my mistake.
"Ah, n-
"I sent you the location. Let's take a walk."
I flinched and realized he was serious.
"Hahaha, alright. Let's go."
Like that we walked until we both stopped at our destination.
"Wow, you really did your research."
The moon was brightly illuminated the beautiful scenery.
The flowers, trees and clear sky.
I briefly looked at the video call and exclaimed.
"Woah."
The sun rose upon the horizon.
The orange tinted sky beautifully contrasted with the green scenery.
"Wow you really set this up well!"
I wanted to jump through the screen and witness both scenes without being restricted by a screen.
Then he spoke up.
"Remember when we met? I was just a shy kid with no friends and you came up to me?"
I turned my head towards my phone.
"Haha, yeah I remember."
"Thank you for that."
Then he breathed in.
"Hey, I have something to tell you."
I looked at my phone while my eyes widened.
"Ah."
I instinctively knew what he was going to say.
My cheeks flushed red and my brain went into panic.
"W-w-
Before I could say a word I heard it.
"I love you. I always have. Since the very first day."
I was nervous but mustered up the words I had hidden for years behind a facade of friendship.
"M-me too, I love you too. I loved you since the first day as well."
""Ah.""
Then we both realized.
""Hahahaha.""
We had always loved each other.
