Chapter 1 - Am I Dorian? Nooo, I'm Pantalone!

The constant wind and snow are the most common sights in Snezhnaya. This northern land is wrapped in a pure white landscape, where solid ice and endless snow dominate the horizon.

As he stepped out of the Winter Palace, the elegant young man dressed in a gray-silver robe and cloak looked at the familiar scenery he was already accustomed to, with a slight sense of astonishment and uncertainty in his eyes.

It was as if a stranger were seeing this landscape for the first time.

And that's exactly what happened.

"Could it be... I've transmigrated...?"

After processing the memories in his mind, Dorian finally fully accepted his current situation.

He discovered that he had indeed traveled through time and become "Pantalone", the "Wealthy Man", one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers of the Winter Kingdom in Genshin Impact.

Dorian… no, now his name had to be Pantalone.

Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined falling asleep while watching the latest trailer for Genshin Impact and waking up in this inexplicable transmigration, becoming the "Wealthy Man", the Ninth Fatui Harbinger.

But there was good news: he retained most of Pantalone's memories. Though some were missing, the majority of what should have been there remained intact.

According to the memories in his mind, the First Fatui Harbinger, "The Jester" Pierro, had apparently summoned all the Harbingers for a meeting in the coming days. It seemed to be about some grand celestial cause.

This absurd situation made him feel like a husky surrounded by a pack of wolves.

As everyone knows, Pantalone, the Ninth Fatui Harbinger, the "Wealthy Man", is an ambitious and dangerous individual full of grand schemes.

But he was not.

As an ordinary person before this transmigration, Dorian was well aware of his limits.

And based on the comparison between the memories in his mind and the memories of his previous life, he discovered that this timeline didn't seem to be one he recognized.

There wasn't even a hint of the best toy salesman in the Kingdom of Solstice in these memories. It seemed likely that this was set in a much earlier time, preventing him from relying on the plot he knew.

What was he supposed to do?

He was starving, and he had no idea what to say at the meeting in just a few days!

No one had told him what to do right now!

Today was his first day after transmigrating!

What if… he asked his fellow Harbingers for advice?

Pantalone thought with a hint of excitement.

But when it came to who to approach for advice, that required careful consideration.

And how to ask also needed to be planned. After all, he had to play his role well and not let others notice that he seemed like a different person.

Therefore, such matters required long-term planning; at the very least, he couldn't make others feel too uneasy.

Just as Pantalone lowered his head and thought about who he should approach, the crisp sound of footsteps reached his ears. The sound of long boots crunching against frozen ground interrupted his thoughts.

He couldn't help but snap out of his reverie and looked at the figure walking past him.

The gray-silver cloak, identical to his, revealed the figure's identity. The streak of black and white in their hair allowed Pantalone to recognize her immediately.

"Arlecchino?"

"Oh, is it you, Lord Regrator? What does this have to do with me?"

After hearing her name, the woman turned to look at Pantalone with a hint of disdain on her face, as if she didn't like him in the slightest.

Her identity was none other than "The Knave" Arlecchino, one of the Fatui Harbingers, just like Pantalone.

Pantalone didn't pay much attention to Arlecchino's unpleasant tone. After all, he believed he was different from the original Pantalone, so he didn't take it too seriously.

And from Pantalone's memories, he knew that, in a way, this kind of interaction was common among the Fatui. To be precise, Arlecchino treated everyone this way.

It seemed that due to the fusion of Pantalone's memories, he unconsciously adopted a similar tone when speaking. He chose not to restrain this tone, thinking it might help him resemble the original more.

"Heh, we're colleagues working together under Her Majesty's command. I don't think a daily greeting is unusual, is it? But you, Arlecchino, you seem a bit curious. Are you so eager to prepare your answers for the meeting?"

"Lord Regrator, you really like meddling as always. Are you already trying to probe others' plans? But I'm sorry to tell you, I won't reveal any information to you."

Arlecchino mocked him harshly, her words full of disdain for Pantalone.

It could be said that if they weren't colleagues, she might have already stopped him and started yelling at him. Something along the lines of, You, the guy who should be hung from a lamppost, leave.

Although Pantalone already knew from his memories that their relationship wasn't good, he hadn't expected the other party to have such a negative opinion of him.

Should he say that Arlecchino had a bad impression of him?

Or was it simply that Arlecchino didn't want to deal with him?

"I really didn't expect you to have such a strong opinion of me, which disappoints me a little. I was hoping for a friendly exchange between us."

Pantalone, who considered himself a good-natured person, undoubtedly expressed his most sincere feelings with these words.

He hoped to convey his thoughts to her and make her understand his most genuine intentions.

He felt he had done his best, but, as expected, his words were rejected once again.

"Save your hypocritical face. I'm not interested in your kind words. If you want to beg like a puppy, I suggest you go see Sandrone. I think her puppets could give you some interesting experiences."

After delivering such a mockery, Arlecchino walked away without looking back.

"Goodbye then, Lord Regrator."

Watching Arlecchino's figure disappear into the distance, Pantalone, who had been mocked so harshly, didn't feel angry at all.

Instead, he gleaned the information he needed from Arlecchino's words.

"Do you want to try finding 'The Marionette'?"

Maybe he really should give it a shot.

If he remembered correctly, Sandrone had many discarded products from failed experiments. If he could acquire some of those from her, it would be enough to use as a response to Arlecchino, wouldn't it?

Thinking of this, Pantalone felt a surge of anticipation and couldn't wait to return immediately to ask his people to inquire whether Sandrone had any extra puppets she could lend him.

"Well it really sounds like a good decision."
