Chapter 117 - Facing the Basilisk

"As a house-elf of the Malfoy family, Dobby made sure his master did things for Harry in secret... Even though all this is causing trouble... but you must understand that no one with authority will tolerate disloyalty. Subordinates who are not filial will not follow you."

Lynn stopped and looked at Irina by his side. There seemed to be no emotion in his dark red eyes.

Seeing that Irina appeared lost in thought, Lynn continued, "It's true that I care deeply for my house-elf Gale, giving him the cleanest pillowcase and plenty of rest time, but you must understand that even though I treat him well, Gale, like the Malfoy family, will continue to do his best to fulfill his duties and will not do anything that could harm the Rohr family."

"I don't know what others think, but the Rowe family cannot accommodate a house-elf like Dobby. Perhaps being free but helpless is the best option for Dobby."

Lynn said.

Irina did not speak, silently following Lynn.

In other words, if Dobby were the housekeeper of her family, but Dobby disclosed her family's business secrets to a competitor, leading to the collapse of their business plan, Irina would not feel comfortable thinking about it.

After all, she didn't do anything wrong. The only mistake she made was trusting the wrong person and entrusting her family's affairs to a house-elf who shouldn't have been trusted.

While Lynn and Irina were lurking in the school hospital, they were on another floor of Hogwarts Castle's corridor.

Colin Creevey, wearing alchemical glasses, was happily walking, holding a bunch of grapes that he was going to give to Harry when he visited.

During today's Quidditch match, Colin took many photos of Harry, which made him extremely happy, the little fan of Harry.

Colin continued flipping through the camera in his hand, looking at the pictures of Harry, including the moment Harry's broken arm bone was healed.

Whistle...

But at that moment, Colin heard the strange hiss of a snake coming from not far away, and he instinctively looked up.

He saw a pair of bright yellow vertical pupils appear tens of meters away, staring directly at him!

The pair of vertical pupils were as large as basketballs, and even the eyes themselves were so enormous that Colin couldn't imagine how large the creature hiding in the shadows might be.

"Ahhhh! Monster, ahhh!"

Colin screamed and ran as fast as he could in the direction he came from.

The creature Colin saw was, of course, a basilisk. After spotting Colin, the basilisk attempted to kill him with its deadly gaze, just as it had done before.

However, after Colin and the basilisk made eye contact, the basilisk was surprised to find that the other person had not died, but instead fled in terror.

This took the basilisk by surprise. It originally used its eyes to kill people, but when it reacted, Colin had already disappeared.

"Ugh!"

At that moment, a girl wearing a Gryffindor wizard robe slowly emerged from the shadows behind the basilisk and spoke venomously in Parseltongue.

If anyone else had heard the girl speak, they would have been horrified to discover that the sound coming from her mouth was clearly the hissing of a snake.

"It seems we've been discovered, let's go back..."

The girl in the Gryffindor robe raised her wand, intending to punish the basilisk at her side for its mistake, but she seemed worried about something and ultimately lowered her wand.

On the other hand, after Colin escaped the basilisk, he ran as fast as he could to Professor McGonagall's office and desperately broke the door.

"Colin? What happened?"

Professor McGonagall opened the office door and saw Colin, who was sweating profusely.

Colin's body was trembling with anxiety. He stuttered, "Orange... vertical pupils... monster... help..."

After hearing Colin's words, Professor McGonagall quickly understood that Colin had been attacked by a supposed monster, and her expression grew serious.

As the Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and Head of Gryffindor House, Professor McGonagall would never allow monsters that threatened the lives of young wizards to exist in the castle.

"Calm down and speak slowly!" Professor McGonagall handed Colin a cup of black tea and patted him on the back.

Colin shakily took a sip of tea and spilled half of it on himself.

Looking into Professor McGonagall's kind but solemn eyes, Colin gradually relaxed.

Colin fully recounted to Professor McGonagall what had happened in the corridor a moment ago.

"How can this be? Colin, come with me!"

Professor McGonagall's tone became increasingly serious, and she pushed Colin toward the Headmaster's office.

After giving the password "Licorice Wand" to the stone statue guarding the door, Professor McGonagall hurriedly led Colin to the Headmaster's office.

"Albus! Something happened in the castle!"

She said seriously to Dumbledore, who was sitting in a chair eating a pile of cockroaches.

Dumbledore adjusted his half-moon glasses on the bridge of his nose and said, "Calm down, Minerva! Speak slowly!"

Professor McGonagall took a deep breath and asked Colin, who was by her side, to repeat what he had seen again.

"Albus, you also heard. The monster Colin mentioned is very similar to the basilisk in the rumors, but when he saw the eyes of the monster... Albus, I'm worried..."

Professor McGonagall said somewhat incoherently.

The only magical creature in the magical world that matched the appearance and sound of the monster Colin described was the basilisk, but Colin looked directly at the basilisk's eyes and managed to escape unharmed.

After hearing Colin's story, Dumbledore's eyes became serious. He gently said to Colin, "Colin, if we're guessing correctly, the monster you saw is a form of basilisk. The basilisk's gaze has the power to kill. Anyone who looks directly into its eyes will die instantly, but nothing happened to you when you looked at it..."

Upon hearing this, Colin was surprised for a moment, then recalled something and said, "By the way, Professor Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall, Irina gave me a pair of glasses like these today, saying they can block some bad magic. Would you like to see if they work?"

With that, Colin took off the alchemical glasses he was wearing and handed them to Professor Dumbledore.

Although he promised Irina to wear them at all times, showing them to Professor Dumbledore shouldn't be considered a violation of the agreement, right?

"These glasses..."

Dumbledore studied the alchemical glasses carefully.

As a powerful alchemist, Dumbledore was naturally able to see the technical content of these glasses, as well as their obvious special properties for resisting dark magic and curses.

Upon realizing that these glasses came from Irina, and thinking about how Irina had recently been spending time with Lynn and the identity of Lynn as an alchemist, Dumbledore immediately knew who had created these magical alchemical glasses.
