"Freezing Charm, did you know about it?" Irina asked.
Hermione lowered her head, thinking for a moment, before she recalled the relevant information from the mountain of spells in her mind. She immediately replied, as if to show off her knowledge: "Yes, the Freezing Charm. It's a spell that freezes the ground and the air, and the effect is to freeze any creature or object it hits!"
Irina wasn't surprised that Hermione knew this spell. After all, in the original work, Hermione used the Freezing Charm to free the Cornish pixie from the clumsy Professor Lockhart and trap it.
To prove she truly knew the spell, Hermione took out her wand and pointed it at a nearby vase. "The earth is frozen, the sky is frozen!"
A burst of icy blue light shot out, striking the vase and instantly freezing it into an ice sculpture.
After doing this, Hermione looked proudly at Irina, eager for praise.
But soon, Hermione seemed to remember something. She stuck out her tongue and said, "Well... Irina, it seems I can't unfreeze the vase. If I use the Fire Charm, the vase will definitely break..."
Irina simply smiled, then waved her wand. The frozen vase immediately returned to its original state.
After mastering the silent casting of the Freezing Charm, Irina discovered that her understanding of the spell had deepened significantly. Even without using the universal counter-spell, she could cast the Freezing Charm with ease.
Seeing this, Hermione's eyes widened in awe. "Wow, Irina, how did you do that?!"
Hermione moved closer to Irina's bed and sat down next to her.
Irina unconsciously leaned against Hermione and gently rested her chin on her shoulder.
"Ay, what are you doing?" Hermione blushed slightly, feeling the strange sensation as Irina rested on her shoulder.
Irina gave her a mysterious smile. "What's wrong, Hermione? Come on, let me show you! I'll teach you how to reverse the Freezing Charm and you can carefully feel the trajectory of your magic!"
As she spoke, Irina put her arm around Hermione's waist and took her right wrist, where Hermione held her wand.
Hermione, a first-year student, was small and fit perfectly within Irina's reach.
Irina took a deep breath of satisfaction and then whispered the incantation.
Hermione felt her magic being controlled by Irina. It flowed through her wand and a blue icy beam shot out again, freezing the vase.
Then, Irina recited the spell again, this time with slight variations in the incantation. The beam emitted from Hermione's wand seemed deeper, and when it struck the vase, it restored it.
Hermione was still slightly flushed as Irina held her, but her thirst for magical knowledge made her temporarily ignore the close contact with her new best friend.
She repeated the counter-spell Irina had taught her and soon mastered the ability to cast and reverse the spell. Delighted, she showed Irina her progress.
Irina didn't reveal her silent casting skills to avoid triggering Hermione's competitive spirit. Instead, she clapped softly to congratulate her.
Just then, their other two roommates returned.
They had no choice but to stop practicing magic and turn off the lights to sleep.

The next morning, in the Slytherin dormitory.
Lynn got up early once again. The first class of the day was Defense Against the Dark Arts with Professor Quirrell. Although Quirrell's lessons were awkward and ineffective, to avoid any strange situations, and with Voldemort lurking behind his head, Lynn decided to stay alert just in case.
Thus, Lynn had finished carving the power source and the center of the runes last night and went to bed early.
Of course, he had also completed the alchemy planning for the Desert Eagle's body and bullets. Now, he just needed to complete the alchemy step by step.
The first class of the day began soon. When Lynn entered the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, Quirrell was standing at the podium, holding a textbook.
Lynn opened the textbook and sat down, pretending to be a normal, obedient student.
Meanwhile, the first class of the day for the Gryffindor first years was Transfiguration.
Hermione woke the sleepy Irina early and dragged her to the Transfiguration classroom for a preview.
This made Irina so sleepy that she wanted to lie down on the desk and catch up on sleep.
She thought she could rest after reaching Hogwarts, where arrogance prevailed, but she didn't expect to still have to follow the morning routine under Hermione's insistence.
As the class time drew nearer, Irina rubbed her eyes and lifted her head just in time to see a tabby cat running into the classroom, jumping onto the podium, and then sitting there, scanning the students who had arrived early.
Most of the young witches and wizards who managed to arrive early to class were interested in studying, so they had no interest in the sudden arrival of the tabby cat. They merely glanced at the cat and continued doing their own things.
But Irina's eyes lit up when she saw it, a glimmer of snowflake-like light flashing in her icy blue eyes.
Irina jumped up, much to Hermione's confusion, then ran and jumped onto the podium, smiling at the tabby cat on it.
Under the curious gazes of everyone, Irina nonchalantly put her hands in her pockets, as if searching for something.
Soon, her eyes lit up, and she pulled out a large handful of catnip from her pocket.
"Mimi! Mimi! Catnip!"
Irina rubbed the tabby cat's head and placed the catnip in the cat's paws.
The boldness of Irina's actions froze the cat in place, and after a moment, the physiological reaction to the catnip caused the tabby cat to sneeze repeatedly.
Realizing something was wrong, the tabby cat suddenly leapt forward and transformed back into its original form—Professor McGonagall.
"Irina! How dare you, how dare you bring catnip into the Transfiguration classroom?!" Professor McGonagall's fury was almost tangible.
Irina took a step back, pretending to be frightened.
The expression of fear on her face was, of course, fake.
After all, how could she, who was familiar with the original novel, not know that the tabby cat was Professor McGonagall's Animagus form?!
But who could resist giving a handful of catnip to the beloved head of house who could transform into a cat?!
"Professor, I didn't mean to…" Irina said, looking apologetic, though it was all an act.
Seeing this, Professor McGonagall was momentarily speechless but had no choice but to let Irina return to her seat.
After all, those who didn't know were not to blame. She had also entered the classroom in her Animagus form, so it was impossible for the young wizards to know her true identity.
However, with McGonagall's blind spot, once Irina returned to her seat, she secretly gave Hermione a subtle "thumbs-up."
