Chapter 38 - Irina Lowell

Lynn subconsciously released his magic power to sense the snow-white figure in the distance.

Wait, she doesn't seem to be a half-Veela, but a normal human witch?

The result of the magical feedback made Lynn's expression even stranger.

The silver-haired girl didn't give the charming feeling like Fleur Delacour did. Instead, she emanated a cool breath, which felt very refreshing in the summer heat.

At that moment, the silver-haired girl looked over at him, and Lynn could clearly see her face.

Upon closer inspection, Lynn noticed that the girl's hair wasn't pure silver, but more like snowflake white, with the tips of her hair almost a transparent ice blue, which looked like highlighted hair from a distance.

This unique hair color reminded him of his own. Lynn's hair was mostly black, with the ends gradually transitioning into a dark red flame-like color.

Additionally, the girl's eyes seemed unusual. Unlike the deep blue eyes of most British witches, her eyes weren't deep blue or light blue like Professor Green's, but an icy blue like ice.

As Lynn extended his magic power to sense her more clearly, the closer his magic got to her, the more he could feel the growing presence of ice-element magic around her.

Lynn was sure the girl's special appearance came from her bloodline. Could it be that she, too, had a strong affinity for a certain element, like him?

Lynn thought to himself.

"Dude, what are you thinking about?! The Hogwarts Express is leaving!"

"If you don't get on the train, you'll have to fly to Hogwarts on your own broomstick!"

At that moment, Fred and George spoke in unison and dragged Lynn into the carriage.

The Weasley twins and Lynn were still in the same compartment, but this trip was different from last year.

The twins, who had made a fortune selling improved dungbombs, were confident enough to buy the magical snacks offered by the trolley witch. This time, the Weasley twins declined Lynn's offer to pay and took the initiative to spend three gold Galleons to buy plenty of snacks to share with him.

"We are where we are today thanks to you, Lynn!"

"How could we let you treat us again?!"

Fred and George grinned as they spoke, and Lynn didn't refuse their kindness, so he began eating with them.

Of course, the three of them didn't eat too much. They had to save enough space for the delicious feast at the welcome dinner later.

In the evening, the train arrived at its destination. After changing into their wizarding robes, the three of them walked toward the front compartment, ready to get off.

When passing by the compartment where Harry, Ron, and Hermione were, Lynn noticed that, in addition to the trio from the original book, the silver-haired girl was there as well.

She seemed to be a character outside of the original novel!

Lynn thought to himself.

Since Lynn was already a second-year student, he didn't need to take the boat across the Black Lake anymore. Instead, he followed the main group and rode in a carriage pulled by Thestrals to Hogwarts Castle.

When he arrived at the Thestrals' carriage, Lynn found that he could see the Thestrals pulling it.

These Thestrals had no flesh; their black fur clung tightly to their skeletons, and every bone was clearly visible.

The heads of the Thestrals resembled that of a fire dragon, with white pupil-less eyes that stared straight ahead.

Between their shoulder bones, large, leathery black wings sprouted, resembling the wings of giant bats.

Lynn wasn't surprised to see the Thestrals. After all, he and Professor Green had killed the dark wizard Casiraghi together, so he had witnessed his death.

However, Lynn didn't say anything. Instead, he pretended not to notice the Thestrals and climbed into the carriage with Fred and George.

After arriving at Hogwarts Castle, the three of them separated. Lynn followed the young students of Slytherin House to their table in the Great Hall and waited.

Not long after, a group of first-years entered the hall, guided by Professor McGonagall. The Sorting Hat was placed on a stool, just like last year.

The Sorting Hat twisted its wrinkled body again, as if performing an enchanting dance, and its cracked mouth sang a song as unpleasant as scratching glass.

When the song ended, Professor McGonagall finally stepped forward, holding a parchment that listed this year's first-years.

"Hannah Abbott!"

As Professor McGonagall finished calling out, a rosy-cheeked little girl with two golden braids stumbled out of the line and put on the hat that just covered her eyes.

"Hufflepuff!" the Sorting Hat shouted.

"Susan Bones!"

"Hufflepuff!"

"Terry Boot!"

"Ravenclaw!"

The sorting ceremony continued in an orderly fashion. When the first letter of the student's surname reached "G", Professor McGonagall loudly announced: "Hermione Granger!"

Little Hermione practically ran to the stool and put the Sorting Hat on her head.

The Sorting Hat rested on her head for a moment, as if contemplating whether to sort her into Ravenclaw or Gryffindor. Finally, it shouted: "Gryffindor!"

A moment later, Professor McGonagall called out: "Neville Longbottom!"

This is the Gryffindor Sword Master!

Lynn watched as Neville was sorted into Gryffindor.

Just as Lynn was watching Neville walk to the Gryffindor table, he heard Professor McGonagall call a name he hadn't heard before: "Irina Lovell!"

According to the alphabetical order, the first two letters of both Longbottom and Lowell are "L" and "O", and Longbottom's third letter is "N", which comes before "W", so Neville was called first, followed by Irina Lovell.

At that moment, Lynn was somewhat surprised to see the silver-haired girl he had seen earlier walk up, sit on the stool, and put on the Sorting Hat.

So her name is Irina Lovell! Lynn thought to himself.

Irina Lovell's sorting process didn't seem ordinary. Just like Lynn's last year, it took the Sorting Hat a full two and a half minutes to make its final decision.

"Gryffindor!"

Irina opened her eyes, her beautiful ice-blue eyes flickered slightly, and she walked to the Gryffindor table amid loud applause.
