Chapter 8 - The Banquet and the Slytherin Dormitory

Could it be that... the reason the Weasley twins became so skilled in alchemy was because they learned it from Mr. Wallison Green this year?

Lynn's expression shifted slightly.

In that case, could I also learn alchemy from this famous French alchemist?

After all, the magical stone that prolonged the life of Nicolas Flamel and his wife for over 600 years is also an alchemical product!

Although Lynn wasn't particularly interested in extending his life, he was fascinated by the power of alchemy.

After all, the Philosopher's Stone is alchemy, but alchemy isn't the Philosopher's Stone!

At that moment, Mr. Green, or rather, Professor Green, seemed to have noticed Lynn's gaze. He slightly nodded at him and gave him a kind smile.

Seeing this, Lynn couldn't help but glance at Professor Snape, who was standing next to Professor Green.

They were both dark figures, yet there was such a difference between them!

Lynn thought to himself.

Soon, the Sorting Ceremony concluded.

Hogwarts' headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, stood up. He looked at the young witches and wizards with a smile on his face, stretched out his arms, and said cheerfully, "Welcome! Welcome to the start of your new life at Hogwarts this year! Before we begin the feast, I'd like to say something!"

"Thank you all!"

As soon as Professor Dumbledore finished speaking, the auditorium burst into applause.

Lynn was suddenly moved. This reminded him of his high school graduation ceremony in his previous life. The principal had to shake every student's hand and hand out leather cases with diplomas. Thousands of people took turns receiving them, leaving Lynn to wait in the audience for over three hours...

At that moment, the plate in front of Lynn was suddenly filled with food: roasted chicken, pork chops, lamb chops, sausages, steaks, boiled potatoes, baked potatoes, French fries, Yorkshire pudding, pea shoots, carrots, ketchup, and possibly due to some old bee, there were sweets like mint candies on the plate.

Just as Lynn was about to begin, several ghosts from different houses suddenly appeared.

Next to the Slytherin table, there was a very scary-looking ghost with dull eyes, a gaunt appearance, and his robe stained with silver bloodstains. This was none other than the ghost of Slytherin house, Bloody Baron.

Good heavens, is it enough to make people eat like this?!

Lynn was a bit helpless. Standing near the bloodstained table, it was hard to eat.

Lynn tried his best to ignore Bloody Baron and then tasted the steak and roasted potatoes on the plate, which surprisingly tasted quite good.

When the young wizards were full, the plates were replaced with desserts.

There was a wide variety of desserts, including ice cream, apple pie, fruit tarts in syrup, chocolate cake, fried doughnuts with jam, jam pudding soaked in wine, strawberries, jelly, and rice pudding.

Lynn grabbed two bowls of ice cream and ate them.

Finally, the plates were cleared, and the auditorium returned to its original silence, despite the noise during the meal.

"Oh, now that everyone has eaten and drunk enough, I want to say a few more words. At the beginning of the semester, I would like to remind you of a few things to pay attention to: Attention, first-year students, no student is allowed to enter the forest area on the school grounds. Students of other grades should also remember this."

Professor Dumbledore's bright eyes glinted toward the Weasley twins. It seemed that they had run into the Forbidden Forest during their first year.

"Also, the caretaker, Mr. Filch, asked me to remind everyone not to perform magic in the hallways between classes. Finally, the Quidditch tryouts will take place in the second week of this semester. Any students interested in joining the team should contact Mrs. Hooch."

"Now, before you all go to bed, let's sing the school song together!"

Professor Dumbledore said aloud, showing a smile.

But Lynn noticed that all the professors, except for Professor Dumbledore, froze upon hearing this phrase.

Professor Dumbledore waved his wand, and a long golden ribbon twisted like a snake to form golden words. These words were the Hogwarts school song.

"Choose any melody you like," Professor Dumbledore said, "Get ready, and sing!"

Under Professor Dumbledore's lead, a group of young wizards quickly began to sing. Some first-year students were a little shy at first, but they soon joined in.

"Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Please teach us that whether we are bald old men or children with broken knees, our minds can accept some interesting things.

Because now our brains are empty and full of air, dead flies, and trivialities teach us something valuable,

Give us back what we have forgotten,

Just do your best, and leave the rest to us. We will study hard until we turn to the earth."

Everyone sang to a different melody, which caused the entire auditorium to descend into chaos.

No wonder the other professors looked so helpless.

Among them, the Weasley twins sang the "Funeral March" melody, while Lynn sang in a strange combination of chanting, dancing, and rap, which made Professor Dumbledore feel a little nervous.

"The music," said Professor Dumbledore with tears in his eyes after the song ended, "is more enchanting than anything we've done here! It's time to go to bed, let's all return to our dormitories!"

Then, the prefects of each house led their first-year students to their respective dorms. A group of small carrots followed the prefects, like an eagle chasing a chicken.

The Slytherin dormitory was located at the bottom of the Black Lake. Lynn followed the large group of students down the stairs and arrived at a stone door hidden in the stone wall.

"Remember, the password for this week is: SANTA!"

The prefect said to everyone, and saw that the stone door in the wall slowly opened, revealing the common room inside.

The Slytherin common room was a basement with rough stone walls and ceilings. Bright green round lights hung from the ceiling by chains.

Not far away, there was a huge glass vase. Lynn could see the view of the Black Lake through the glass. This enormous vase made the entire Slytherin common room look like an aquarium.

Lynn followed the guide and reached his dorm. The bed in the Slytherin dormitory was a traditional four-poster with green silk curtains hanging and silver embroidery on the duvet.
