Chapter 1 - Marriage Contract and Alliances

El Poblado, Colombia

Juan Gómez stood in his luxurious office, gazing out the window at the city he controlled.

"Luis, our agreement," Luis Moreno Salazar said, his voice firm, as he entered the room.

Juan turned, his eyes narrowing. "You're pushing your luck, boy. This alliance benefits you more than me."

Luis smiled, his eyes glinting. "Our mutual interests align, Juan. Your family's influence and my... resources."

Juan's jaw clenched. "My daughter, Aliyah, is not a pawn."

Luis's gaze turned cold. "She's the key to our partnership. Marry her to me, and our families' futures are secured."

Juan's hesitation was palpable. "You'll protect our interests?"

Luis nodded. "I'll ensure your family's safety and prosperity."

The contract lay on the desk, waiting to be signed. Juan's eyes locked onto Luis.

"You'll honor our agreement?"

Luis smiled. "I always keep my promises, Juan."

With a heavy heart, Juan signed the contract. Luis's eyes gleamed as he added his signature. Their families' fates were now entwined.

But as Luis turned to leave, Juan's voice stopped him.

"Luis?"

"Yes?"

"Betray me, and you'll regret it."

Luis's smile widened. "I wouldn't dare."

Unbeknownst to them, both men had a hidden clause in the contract: "In the event of Juan Gómez's eventual death or incapacitation, Luis Moreno Salazar gains full control of the Gómez empire, including all assets and interests." Because Aliyah is the only child and Luis being the husband gains control over everything. And Juan getting back something precious to him that Luis' father stole.

Both men planned to manipulate events to trigger this clause, allowing one of them to seize control.

Later, Juan stood in his opulent study, his eyes fixed on the contract.

"Isabella," Juan called.

Isabella entered, her elegance diminished by concern.

"What is it, Juan?"

Juan's expression remained unyielding. "I've arranged Aliyah's marriage to Luis Moreno Salazar."

Isabella's face paled. "Juan, no! Consider Aliyah's happiness."

Juan's jaw clenched. "This is business, Isabella. Our family's future depends on it."

Isabella's voice trembled. "But Aliyah's just a child. She deserves love."

Juan's eyes turned cold. "Love is a luxury we can't afford. This alliance secures our power."

Isabella's tears fell silently. "You're sacrificing our daughter's life for ambition."

Juan's expression remained unyielding. "I've made my decision, Isabella. You'll support it."

Later that day...

Juan summoned Aliyah to his study.

"Aliyah, hija," Juan said, his voice firm.

Aliyah entered, sensing something was wrong.

"Aliyah, you're going to marry Luis Moreno Salazar," Juan announced.

Aliyah's eyes widened in shock. "What? Father, no!"

Juan's eyes avoided hers. "You're going to marry Luis Moreno Salazar," he said, his voice firm.

Aliyah's world crashed. "What? No! I won't do it!" she exclaimed.

Juan's expression turned stern. "You will, Aliyah. It's arranged. For the family's sake."

Aliyah felt trapped, her dreams shattered. "But who is he? I don't even know him!"

Juan's jaw clenched. "You'll learn to respect him. He's a powerful man."

Aliyah's anger boiled over. "Respect him? You're selling me to a stranger!"

Juan's eyes flashed with warning. "Enough, Aliyah. This is not a discussion."

Aliyah's heart sank, realizing her fate was sealed. "When?" she whispered.

Juan's voice softened slightly. "In six months. The wedding will be grand."

Aliyah's tears fell, her future slipping away. "You don't care about my happiness, do you?" she accused.

Juan's expression remained unyielding. "Your happiness is secondary to our family's interests."

Aliyah sat in her room, lost in thought. The cryptic message and Gabriel's words swirled in her mind.

"Why did Papi agree to this marriage?" she wondered.

Aliyah's thoughts drifted to Gabriel, her childhood friend and boyfriend. Their bond had grown stronger over the years, and she wasn't going to leave him for anyone. Now, with her marriage to Luis looming, Aliyah's feelings for Gabriel seemed impossible.

"Gabriel," she whispered, her heart aching.

A knock at the door broke her reverie. "Aliyah, hija," Isabella called softly.

Aliyah composed herself. "Mami, come in."

Isabella entered, concern etched on her face. "Aliyah, I know you're struggling. But we must be careful. Your father—"

"I know, Mami," Aliyah interrupted. "But I feel trapped. Married to a stranger... it's not fair."

Isabella's eyes filled with tears. "I'm sorry, hija. I wish I could change this."

Aliyah's gaze fell. "Gabriel... he wants to help me."

Isabella's expression turned cautious. "Be careful, Aliyah. Your father won't hesitate to use force."

Aliyah's resolve hardened. "I won't give up, Mami. I'll find a way out."

Later that night...

Aliyah crept to her balcony, gazing at the stars. She felt Gabriel's presence before seeing him.

"Aliyah," Gabriel whispered, standing below her balcony.

"Gabriel," she replied, her voice barely audible.

Their eyes locked, the distance between them palpable.

"Aliyah, I won't let them hurt you," Gabriel promised.

Aliyah's heart swelled. "Gabriel, I—"

"Shh," he interrupted. "Just know I'm here for you. Always."

As Gabriel's words hung in the air, Aliyah felt a surge of emotion. She longed to be with him, to escape the prison her life had become.

"Gabriel, how can we..." Aliyah trailed off, her voice barely above a whisper.

"We'll have to betray your father," Gabriel said, his voice low. "Find documents that incriminate Luis and your father."

Aliyah's eyes widened. "It could ruin my father's reputation, free me from this arranged marriage."

Gabriel nodded. "But we must be cautious. Your father has eyes and ears everywhere."

Aliyah's resolve hardened. "I'm willing to take that risk," she said, determination etched on her face.

Gabriel's gaze softened. "I'll protect you, Aliyah. I promise."

As they spoke, the night air seemed to vibrate with tension. Aliyah felt an invisible thread connecting her to Gabriel, drawing her closer. Suddenly, a faint noise echoed from within. Gabriel's head snapped up, his eyes locked onto Aliyah's.

"Go," he whispered urgently. "Now."

Aliyah nodded, disappearing into the shadows of her balcony.

As she re-entered her room, she heard her father's voice, cold and menacing.

"Aliyah, I've received word of your... associations," Juan said, his eyes narrowing. "You would do well to remember your duty."

Aliyah's heart sank, but Gabriel's words echoed in her mind: "I'll protect you, Aliyah. I promise." She steeled herself, meeting her father's gaze.

"I understand, Father."

But inside, a spark of defiance had ignited. Aliyah knew she would no longer be held captive by her father's ambitions. The game had begun.

Aliyah's thoughts swirled with possibilities. She knew she had to move carefully, gathering information and allies. Gabriel's words replayed in her mind: "Find documents that incriminate Luis and your father."

Aliyah's determined will hardened. She would uncover the truth, no matter the cost.

As she retired to bed, Aliyah's heart beat with anticipation. "Tomorrow will bring new challenges, new opportunities," she thought. "The game has begun."
