Chapter 6 - No one Double Crosses Me

Gabriel went downstairs, took a bottle of wine and a glass, and went to his sofa to sit. He spoke to himself while crossing his legs.

"I know whatever I did was wrong, but I'm just being a man. And I've got blood flowing within me. I've needs," Gabriel said to himself, sipping his wine.

"Me and Sophie have come a long way. Ever since we both lost our parents, we both found meaning in the cartel we've in. We grew up having sexual tension within us, and ever since, me and Sophie have been messing with ourselves. I don't know what to call this, but it seems she has grown some feelings for me. She needs to understand her place - we're not meant to fall in love. That's the pact we both made to the boss. Though I've broken that pact, I don't care, and I will never give up. Aliyah is mine, and I'll love her forever. I just need to find out how to take the boss out of the way."

In Gabriel's room, Sophie thought to herself, "I can't believe Gabriel would talk to me like that because of that spoiled brat. He's mine; I don't know why he isn't seeing it. I love you, Gab, and I do everything in my power to make Aliyah marry Luis. And by then, Gabriel will be mine. I love you so much, Gabriel; I just wish you could see it. I need to befriend Aliyah, so I could make her choose that mafia man."

In the city of Colombia, everything seemed too good to be true - there wasn't anything like crime, killings, shootings, and all. It had been two weeks now, and Aliyah hadn't heard from Luis. Maybe he chose to cancel the marriage and set her free from his clutches.

In Moreno's secret hideout, a six-feet-tall man stood, wearing a fitted jacket with the buttons open and a tight white tee-shirt with tight jeans trousers as pants. As he stood close to his expensive car, waiting for his men, he smoked one of his expensive cigars, as usual.

Cruz and the boys came out of the warehouse. "Boss, we're done arranging the goods. Even if the police get a tip-off, they won't see anything," Cruz said.

"Alright, that's good. Now, you all should get in the car. We've got a mission to go to," Luis said.

Two cars were packed close to Luis' own. Cruz got into the car with Luis while the rest got into theirs. The drive was a two-hour journey because it was on the other side of town. They reached their location and came down from their cars. Luis armed himself with guns, same as Cruz and the boys.

"What's the headline, Cruz?" Luis asked.

"From my sources inside, Charles and his wife are sleeping. His kids are out for a vacation," Cruz replied.

"Good, good, good. You know what to do... Get inside my trunk," Luis said.

"Okay, boss. I'll get right to it," Cruz said.

Cruz wore his mask to hide his identity; he went into the house armed. Most of his men were already asleep because of the content Cruz' spy added to their food. Cruz got into the house and took Charles.

"Please don't kill me or my wife. Spare my life," Charles begged.

"What do you want? Money?" Charles' wife asked.

"Shut up, I'm not here because of that," Cruz said.

"Charlie, please don't kill me or my husband. We'll give you anything you want," Charles' wife pleaded.

"I'm not here for that, woman. I'm here for your husband. Now, move. If you say anything, woman, I'll blow your head off," Cruz said.

Charles' wife hid her face, scared.

Charles was led out of his house with a gun pointed at his head. Charles had to cooperate because Cruz was armed. He was led to the back of the car, where an attack came upon him; he was hit on the head with a gun and he passed out. He was then thrown into the trunk of the car, and they zoomed off.

They stopped by their second hideout in Charles' town. Charles was brought out of the car and taken into the building. Luis spoke, "Tie him up and keep him in the punisher's room."

"Oh no, when he mentions that room, things don't end well," Theo thought to himself.

"Okay, boss," Theo replied. He did as instructed.

Luis went into the small room. It was a little dark inside, but one could still see one's face.

"Pour the fool some water. I need him awake," Luis instructed.

Theo did as instructed, and Charles woke up.

"Hello, Charles," Luis spoke.

"You! I should have known. Only you would be able to pull such a stunt. What do you want, Luis?" Charles asked.

"Did you get my message, Charles?" Luis asked.

"I did; you think killing one of my men was going to scare me or something? Go fuck yourself," Charles replied.

"Luis, I don't care. I did business with you, and you decide to betray me this way? Man, you're fucked up. You talk about business so bad; where are my remaining guns? You think I wouldn't find out?" Luis asked.

Fear took hold of Charles. It could be seen in his eyes.

Luis puffed his cigar, as usual. "Fear, I can feel and smell it. That's what I'm talking about. Do you feel that, guys?"

"Yes, boss," they all replied in unison, laughing.

"I'm so fucked," Charles thought to himself.

All that was in Charles' eyes was fear and horror.

"How did you find out?" Charles asked.

"Do you think I'm that stupid? I've been in this business since birth. It's literally in my blood, and no one double-crosses me," Luis replied.

"I'm sorry, Luis; please pardon me. I've a family; my kids are still little; they need me. Please don't take me away from them," Charles begged.

Luis' eyes flashed with anger as he spoke, "I hate cheats, and they make my blood boil."

"Please, Luis, I beg you. Don't start a war you won't be able to finish. My brother will surely come for you if he ever finds out," Charles warned.

Charles' words ignited Luis' anger even more, and he pulled out his expensive gun, which had his name engraved on it.

And he shot Charles in the head.

"Clean up this mess and dispose of his body. Let's leave here," Luis instructed.

"Okay, boss," Cruz answered.

Theo helped Cruz dispose of Charles' body at the riverbank. They wanted to burn him up or throw him into the river, but they saw rays of light from the fishermen approaching and left hurriedly, leaving his body at the bank of the river so they wouldn't get caught.

They came back to their hideout, and Luis spoke, "Is it done?"

"Yes, boss," Cruz replied.

"Okay! We leave at dawn. Now, leave me; I need to be left alone."

At the riverbank, some fishermen were coming back when they came across a body. Pedro looked at his torch, and they were stunned.

"Not again, another body, but he looks familiar. Let's report this to the police," Pedro said.

It was dawn already, and Luis left with his men back to his villa.

...in the Gómez mansion. I came down from my room and I decided to watch something on the television. I didn't know what made me choose the news today, but I did. "A highly sophisticated man in his early 40s has been murdered," the news broadcaster spoke.

That was when my nanny walked in and started cursing them. "I am sure it has something to do with those criminals. Those Mafias need to be put behind bars. Not when we all thought everything was finally okay in this country. After not hearing any shootouts for weeks now."

Aliyah's POV… "I didn't know why I couldn't shake off the feeling that Luis was involved somehow."
