Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Wing Manifestation

Kairos sighed, deciding it was best to not argue with the ring spirit for now. He would take his revenge in the future, but for now, a greater issue demanded his attention.

"Growl! Growl!! Growl!!!" The sound echoed through the air, and Kairos's face turned bright red with embarrassment. It wasn't the growl of a beast, but rather the rumbling of his own stomach. He hadn't eaten in almost a month, and his body was protesting loudly.

The only explanation for his survival was the mysterious egg that had nourished him with energy while he was trapped. Kairos decided to head to the nearby city of Arcadia, located on the Aurora Continent. He hoped to earn some money there, so he could eat heartily for a day or two before embarking on his journey to the central continent, Nexarion.

As he walked, Kairos thought about the continent's geography. The planet was divided into five great continents: Aurora in the east, Vespera in the west, Borealis in the north, Australis in the south, and Nexarion at the center. Nexarion was ruled by vampires, who were the lords of this planet. However, due to the Vampire Queen's order, no vampire was allowed to contact humans unless the humans initiated contact.

Kairos had been living in isolation for almost five years, ever since he fled from Nexarion to Aurora. He had heard that Arcadia, the capital city of the Aurora Continent, was a hub for workers and business opportunities. The city was ruled by a royal family famous for their mastery of [Geokinesis], a technique that allowed them to control the earth element with precision.

Kairos, however, was not impressed. He had access to a vast repository of techniques, including those that existed and those that would exist in the future.

As he continued on his journey, Kairos decided to master one of his skills. "Hey Codex, is there any skill for flying?" he asked.

Codex replied.

Kairos's eyes lit up with excitement. "Well, then suggest those whose conditions are fulfilled."

Kairos's grin widened. "Oh! Provide me the best then."

Kairos's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Hm, provide me a description, please."

<[Flight]: The skill to perform independent movement above ground in a gaseous atmosphere or vacuum. [Wing Manifestation]: The fundamental skill to manifest any type of wings. The shape, size, and form are limited to the user's imagination. If the user has the bloodline of the winged races, then they could change their wings' structure to their preference.>

Kairos chuckled, knowing that Codex had already anticipated his choice.

"You already knew my choice from the start, didn't you?"

"Yes."

After the familiar notification of skill installation, Kairos began imagining the design of his wings. He spent 30 minutes perfecting the details, and when he was satisfied, he used the Wing Manifestation skill.

A searing pain shot through his back, as if something was trying to break free. The pain lasted for a few seconds, until two majestic golden wings sprouted from his back. They looked ethereal, with a dark golden hue that shimmered in the sunlight.

Kairos was thrilled with his new wings, gently touching the soft feathers. He then used [Clothes Conjuring] to repair his torn clothing.

As he admired his reflection, Kairos noticed that his wings had taken a significant amount of energy to manifest. He was grateful for the ring's ability to replenish his energy.

With his new wings, Kairos decided to take to the skies. He commanded his wings to flap, and to his delight, he began to rise above the ground. However, as soon as his focus wavered, he fell face-first into the dirt.

Undeterred, Kairos tried again, and again, and again. It took him ten attempts to finally get the hang of flying. He was able to soar through the air, albeit at a slow speed.

As he flew, Kairos decided to head towards Arcadia, hoping to earn some money before embarking on his journey to Nexarion. He landed near the city gate. He didn't know what commotion he was going to cause...
