Chapter 17 - chapter 17 homework and duel

:

Saturday morning is the perfect time to sleep in! Unfortunately, not everyone can enjoy that luxury. As Su Feiyan felt the bed shake and heard his sister's voice, he slowly woke up.

"Thanks for the wake-up service!" Su Feiyan didn't need to think twice to know who it was. He had been receiving this "service" for years.

"What time is it?" Su Feiyan asked sleepily.

"It's already eight! Hurry up and get up!" His sister stood by his bed urging him on.

"Okay, okay, I'm getting up."

"You promised to take me to eat Xiaolongbao!" Su Feiya said playfully, grinning as she tugged at his face.

Su Feiyan rubbed his eyes, lazily getting up from the bed. "I know, I'll go right now."

He stood up and took his sister's hand as they walked out of the house, heading towards the Xiaolongbao shop. The sunlight bathed the street in warmth, and everything felt peaceful at that moment. His sister excitedly chatted with him about her anticipation for the Xiaolongbao.

"Brother, this Xiaolongbao is the best! I haven't had it in so long!" Su Feiya said excitedly, her face glowing with anticipation.

"I like this place too. Do you remember? We discovered it by accident, the time we were tired from walking and decided to try it," Su Feiyan replied with a nostalgic smile.

"Yeah! And then we agreed that we'd only come here together." Su Feiya smiled happily, her eyes sparkling with joy.

They reached the shop, ordered a few baskets of steaming Xiaolongbao, and sat down to eat while chatting. The aroma of the dumplings filled the air, and with each bite, the heat and flavor instantly warmed their hearts.

After breakfast, they returned home, each sitting down to do their homework. Su Feiyan opened his books and began working on math and physics problems, his brow furrowing slightly as he concentrated. His sister sat at another desk, diligently working on her Chinese homework, occasionally chewing on the tip of her pen as she thought through problems.

"Brother, you have so much homework!" Su Feiya couldn't help but murmur, looking at the pile of assignments on his desk, a little surprised.

"Your homework isn't light either. How come, you're only in the fourth grade and already have this much homework?" Su Feiyan sighed with a wry smile.

Su Feiya glanced at her own thick stack of homework, then looked at her brother's pile and complained, "Yeah, the homework these days is ridiculous!"

"I didn't have that much homework when I was in elementary school," Su Feiyan sighed, glancing at his sister's homework book. "Now, elementary school kids have it tough. The homework load is huge."

She couldn't help but stroke her own stack of homework, stacked thickly in front of her.

"Our homework is a lot, but yours is way too much! Do you think all high schoolers have this much? Will I have to do so much homework too?" Su Feiya asked curiously.

Su Feiyan really wanted to tell her "No," but he couldn't lie. They both sighed in unison.

Su Feiyan started on his homework, his math problems challenging, but he remained focused. Some questions frustrated him, but he worked hard to find solutions, gradually conquering the toughest ones. By noon, he had finished most of his homework. Just as he was about to get up, their father called from the living room, "Feiyan, are you done with your homework? Want to play a few rounds of the game?"

Su Feiyan remembered that a few years ago, his dad had been eager to play games with him. Back then, his dad believed that moderate gaming could help build a stronger father-son relationship. He had begun searching for a game that was suitable for them. Most games on the market relied on visual cues, but his dad believed there had to be one that didn't require vision. One day, after work, his dad saw a child playing Street Fighter.

"This game could work! Most of the moves rely on sound instead of vision," his dad said, excited, and began teaching Su Feiyan to play.

At first, it was difficult because Su Feiyan had to learn the different sound effects for each character's moves. But over time, he got the hang of it, and each battle became more fun as he learned to recognize the sounds and movements. Now, they had played enough rounds to have an ongoing tally of wins and losses, alternating victories. Today, they were going to play again. In the first round, Su Feiyan won; in the second round, Dad won. The third round was intense.

As they began the third round, Su Feiyan controlled Ryu, preparing to unleash his famous Hadouken, his fingers rapidly pressing the buttons, his ears attuned to the game's sound effects. His dad was controlling Ken, and their battle had become fierce.

Ryu and Ken exchanged swift kicks and punches, their attacks triggering sound effects that echoed in the room. Su Feiyan heard his dad's Ken dash forward, and he quickly made Ryu sidestep, countering with a quick Tatsumaki Senpukyaku (Hurricane Kick).

"Nice move!" Dad said, dodging at the last moment and retaliating with a sharp uppercut. The Shoryuken landed, causing Ryu to grunt in pain.

Su Feiyan smirked, carefully timing his next move. He launched a Hadouken, the sound of the energy wave buzzing through the room. His dad's Ken jumped over it, but Su Feiyan was ready, following up with a well-timed grab.

"Got you!" Su Feiyan announced triumphantly as Ryu tossed Ken to the ground.

The match continued fiercely, both characters' health bars dropping dangerously low. Just as Dad's Ken prepared to unleash his ultimate Shinryuken, Su Feiya leaned in mischievously and shouted directly into Dad's ear, "Dad, you can do it!" Her sudden yell startled him so much that his finger slipped on the controller.

"Ah!" Dad exclaimed, missing the final input for his attack.

Seizing the opportunity, Su Feiyan's Ryu executed his Metsu Hadouken, landing the decisive blow.

"Ha! Dad, you got distracted by Sis!" Su Feiyan laughed, triumphant.

"I suspect your sister's trying to help you win!" Dad laughed, shaking his head in defeat.

Su Feiya grinned cheekily and added, "If I were playing, I'd definitely beat you both!"
