"Yoruichi, what are you saying?"
Kushina asked, clearly anxious.
Lady Mito frowned, while Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, looked equally displeased.
Orochimaru, standing to the side, cursed inwardly. Damn it, this kid is screwing up my plans!
Originally, after Yoruichi passed the Chūnin exam, Orochimaru had planned to send him on a B-rank mission. There, accidents could be arranged to achieve his hidden goals.
But Yoruichi did the unexpected—he refused the promotion to Chūnin.
Staying a Genin meant Yoruichi could only take D-rank or low-risk C-rank missions. For Orochimaru, this made creating an "accident" nearly impossible without exposing himself.
Orochimaru studied Yoruichi, his golden eyes narrowing. Was this kid smarter than he appeared, or was it just a lucky coincidence?
"I'm serious," Yoruichi said, standing his ground.
Kushina's brow furrowed as she looked between him and the Hokage. "You don't want to advance? That's ridiculous!"
"Why not?" Yoruichi replied with a shrug. "What's wrong with being a Genin?"
Lady Mito's voice grew sharper. "Do you plan to stay a Genin forever?!"
"Why not? Genin are the backbone of Konoha," Yoruichi said casually. "They're the ones who take on the most missions, who support the village every day. Without them, Konoha wouldn't exist as it does now."
The Third Hokage paused, his anger giving way to contemplation. Does he… have a point?
Yoruichi continued. "Sure, the First and Second Hokages were incredible, but they succeeded because of the countless Genin who worked tirelessly under them. I'm proud to stay as I am."
Kushina blinked, confused by his logic. "Wait, are you… proud to be a Genin?"
Yoruichi smirked. "Why not? It suits me just fine."
Hiruzen rubbed his temples, frustrated but intrigued. "Yoruichi… are you sure about this?"
Yoruichi nodded firmly. "Thank you for the offer, Hokage-sama, but I'll stay a Genin."
The Third Hokage sighed deeply, sensing he wouldn't win this argument. "Fine. But don't come crying to me if you regret it."
Lady Mito whispered to him, "I'll talk to him later. He's young and clearly doesn't know what he's doing."
"Do what you want," Hiruzen muttered, turning and leaving. He had more pressing matters to deal with—like the recent tension with Kumogakure.
Orochimaru shot Yoruichi a sharp glance before slipping away.

Later, at the Uzumaki Compound, Mito Uzumaki greeted Yoruichi warmly. "Welcome home, Yoruichi. It's been too long."
The compound was lush and serene, with a beautiful garden filled with the scent of flowers.
"It's… nice," Yoruichi admitted, glancing around.
"I'm glad you think so. Kushina, show him to his room," Mito said with a knowing smile.
"Uh… sure." Kushina's cheeks turned pink as she led Yoruichi to a modest room.
"Looks cozy," Yoruichi remarked.
Kushina hesitated. "If… if you need anything, my room is next door!" She bolted before he could reply, her face red as a tomato.
Yoruichi blinked. Was that… a hint?

Meanwhile, at the underground Root headquarters, Danzo Shimura studied a report on Yoruichi with a grim expression.
"An orphan of the Senju clan… awakening a rare kekkei genkai. All of this is too convenient."
A masked Root agent knelt before him. "Danzo-sama, he even refused the Chūnin promotion, claiming Genin are the foundation of Konoha."
Danzo sneered. "Foolish. A village's strength lies in its elites, not the weak masses."
"What should we do?" the agent asked.
"Bring him in. If he refuses…" Danzo's eyes gleamed dangerously. "Eliminate him. His power must not fall outside my control."
"Yes, Danzo-sama."
"Take a team. Ten Root operatives should be enough. Make sure he's alone. Do not act inside the Uzumaki Compound."
The agent bowed and disappeared into th
e shadows.
Danzo leaned back, his fingers steepled. Yoruichi… you won't escape me.
###
Around the small courtyard of the Uzumaki clan, tension was thick. Members of Root were scattered, hidden in the shadows. Each of them was in position, prepared to act on Danzo's orders.
These weren't ordinary shinobi. They were the Root's elite—ten highly skilled operatives capable of wiping out an entire village overnight. Led by Yamanaka Kaze, Aburame Ryoma, and Aburame Torune, their precision was unmatched.
At the courtyard gate, a young boy sat playing with ants, poking the ground with a stick. Oddly enough, the stick sprouted tiny leaves at its tip. Inside the house, Yoruichi was lying on his bed, gazing at a glowing screen only he could see.

Yoruichi grinned lazily. Only 5% fused, and I'm already at the level of a standard Jonin. Just how terrifying was Hashirama in his prime?
He scrolled through the stats. "Hashirama's chakra and combat experience are insane. At this rate, even elite Jonin wouldn't stand a chance against me."
Fusion progress was a slow grind, but his system had recently sped it up. "Eighteen days to reach 100% fusion? Not bad at all."
His thoughts were interrupted by a loud knock at the door.
"Yoruichi!" A familiar, fiery voice.
He got up, yawning, and opened the door. There stood Kushina Uzumaki, her red hair glinting in the sunlight, her hands on her hips. She wore a simple blue dress, her fiery temperament as vivid as ever.
"Hey, lazybones! Let's go visit Minato! He's still recovering after that fight."
Yoruichi smirked. "Is he gonna bill me for the damage? It wasn't my fault Raikage showed up."
Kushina rolled her eyes. "No, idiot! After you knocked him out, he tried to capture those Cloud spies. Raikage showed up with Killer B, and things went south."
Yoruichi's expression didn't change. "Let me guess—Orochimaru saved the day?"
"Exactly," Kushina said with a smile. "But he got hurt in the process."
Yoruichi stretched, clearly uninterested. Before Kushina could nag him more, a system prompt popped up in his head.
---
[System Prompt: Choose Your Path!]
1. Visit Minato and earn his friendship.
Reward: C-Rank Ninjutsu—Petal Needle Storm.
2. Refuse Kushina outright.
Reward: B-Rank Ninjutsu—Earth Release: Fanged Pursuit Technique. Lose 10 favorability points with Kushina.
3. Stay home and slack off.
Reward: 10x Fusion Speed Boost, B-Rank Taijutsu—Primary Lotus.
---
Yoruichi made his choice instantly. He flopped back onto his bed, ignoring Kushina's growing irritation. "Not today. I'm sleepy. Minato's not going anywhere."
"Yoruichi!" Kushina shouted, crossing her arms. "You're such a slacker! Ugh, fine. Stay here and rot." She stomped out, muttering about how useless he was.
Outside, Uzumaki Mito was seated on the porch, chuckling at Kushina's rant. "Calm down, dear. Perhaps Yoruichi is just tired from using his new abilities."
Kushina huffed but hesitated. "Do you think something's wrong, Grandma Mito?"
Mito nodded thoughtfully. "It's possible. Let's have someone take a look at him. Fortunately, Shizune returned to the village recently."
---
Moments later, Yoruichi's door burst open again. Standing there were Mito, Kushina, and a small girl with dark hair and a curious expression.
"Who's this?" Yoruichi asked, raising a brow.
"This is Shizune," Mito explained. "She's Tsunade's disciple. She's here to check if your condition is normal after awakening your abilities."
Yoruichi eyed the girl, who seemed more nervous than anything. Shizune stepped forward and said softly, "Yoruichi-san, please remove your shirt. I need to examine you."
Yoruichi blinked. Tsunade's apprentice? She's so young… but she's cute.
Without a word, he shrugged off his shirt, revealing a lean, muscular frame. Shizune blushed but remained professional. As she began her examination, Yoruichi couldn't help but think, Life as a lazy genius isn't so bad.
