"You're not bad," Michael remarked to Lith, his voice carrying a tone of approval. Looking at him, he added, "Would you like to come to my house to study magic there?"
Amelia looked at Michael thoughtfully. She recalled the many times she had invited other noble children to play with him, only for them to run away after losing to him. It had left Michael without any friends. But now, looking at Lith, she thought, He's equally talented. Maybe he can keep up with Michael and even become his friend.
She smiled and said, "You have talent. In the future, you could become a great mage or even surpass it. How about coming to our house? I'll take you as a student." She looked at Lith expectantly.
Lith hesitated but respectfully declined. "I'm sorry, Lord Mage, but I already have a master." He glanced at Nana, who looked proud but also slightly regretful.
"It's okay, little one," Nana said, her voice warm. "Compared to this grand mage here, I'm just a simple mage. She is an officially recognized Grand Mage, after all."
Amelia tilted her head. "What do you mean, I'm 'official'?" she asked curiously.
Nana sighed. "I just crossed some people I shouldn't have, and now I'm paying for it," she explained vaguely. Amelia nodded in understanding and decided not to press further.
"Lord Grand Mage, I'll be happy to accompany young master Michael to continue his studies," Ricker chimed in, attempting to seize the opportunity from Lith. Internally, he thought, As expected of a country bumpkin, he doesn't realize what he's rejecting. Following such a powerful mage would be life-changing.
Michael, however, dismissed Ricker coldly. "I don't need useless followers," he said bluntly. Turning back to him, he added, "I saw your performance. You couldn't even sustain a Tier 1 spell. Why would I waste my time with someone like you?" His words stung, but he remained calm as he addressed Lith. "So, what's your decision, Lith?"
Lith thought silently for a moment, consulting Solus in his mind.
"This could expose me," Lith cautioned.
"Yes, and I don't trust nobles," Solus replied firmly.
Finally, Lith said, "I'm sorry, but I'll stay and learn under Nana for now. Later, I plan to join the magic academy."
Amelia nodded. "That's your choice," she said, handing him a book. "Take this. It's a gift."
Lith hesitated. "But I lost," he said, unsure if he deserved it.
"You may have lost, but you're talented and deserving enough to have it," Amelia replied with a smile. Lith accepted the book gratefully. "Thank you for your generosity," he said sincerely.
As the group prepared to leave, Michael turned to Lith one last time. "If you won't come to my house, then I'll come to yours to play," he said, smirking.
Lith was flustered. "It's small and simple," he replied, not wanting nobles at his humble home.
Michael dismissed the concern. "Who cares? We don't need a fancy place to duel," he said confidently.
"Okay," Lith finally agreed. Michael waved goodbye as he left.
Count Lark approached Nana after Michael left. "You're lucky he's taken an interest in you," he said, glancing at Lith. "You might not know this since you aren't a noble, but Michael is quite famous in the noble circles. They call him 'Little Magus.' Even among seasoned mages, he's a prodigy."
Nana raised an eyebrow. "What level is he at now?" she asked.
"He's just a mage," the Count replied. "But with his skill, he can overpower most Grand mages with ease. He was holding back during the duel. If he'd used his full strength, Lith wouldn't have stood a chance."
"It's well-known that he can silently cast over a thousand spells with ease," Count Lark added, his tone filled with admiration. "He's even created several new spells, earning him the title Little Magus. Everyone expects him to become a Magus as he continues to grow."
Lith nodded thoughtfully. "Then I suppose it's not so bad losing to someone like him," he said.
The Count continued, "If I may say, you're different from the other noble children. Many have tried to befriend Michael, but they only wanted to best him in magic and some to be his followers. When they failed, they'd either run away in shame or be thrown out by Michael himself. He doesn't tolerate wasting time with anyone unworthy."
"And because of that," Count Lark added with a sigh, "he doesn't have many friends."
He leaned in slightly toward Lith. "If you manage to befriend him, you'll gain a powerful ally, and it will open many doors for your future."
Lith inwardly groaned at the suggestion, He sounds like more trouble than he's worth.
Maybe some idiot noble might try to kill me out of jealousy if I get too close to him, he thought grimly.
"Come on, don't be so negative," Solus chimed in within his mind. The opportunity to learn from Michael could teach us a lot and help us grow stronger.
Lith sighed, nodding faintly in response to Solus's encouragement.
"Anyway, from now on, I'm going to sponsor you," Count Lark announced with a warm smile. "And don't worry—I'm no mage, so I won't be asking you to come to my house to learn. I'll just provide you with books, money, and other necessities."
Nana nodded approvingly. "Your enthusiasm for supporting young talents hasn't diminished at all," she remarked, her tone genuinely grateful.
Lith, while slightly overwhelmed by the sudden generosity, felt a spark of hope. Nana, on the other hand, was thrilled. She had always wanted Lith to excel and gain recognition, believing it would open new opportunities for him. With Count Lark stepping in at just the right time, she felt reassured that Lith's future as a mage held great promise.
"Thank you for your generosity, Count Lark," Nana said, bowing slightly. Lith followed her gesture, expressing his gratitude as well.
"I'll do my best to make the most of your support," Lith promised,
'Good for you' Solus said inwardly as Lith nodded, 'Now, I just have to make sure Michael don't find about us' he thought.
Lith harbored a secret, one that weighed heavily on him every day. He wasn't just an ordinary boy in this world—he was a reincarnator, someone who had lived multiple lives.
His first life had been on Earth, a life that ended tragically. When he opened his eyes again, he found himself in the body of an alien creature on a distant, unfamiliar world. That life, was barely of few minutes .
And now he is once again reborn and until he solve his continuous reincarnation problem he don't want to die once again.
