Chereads / The Island of Emily / Chapter 3 - Captured

Chapter 3 - Captured

It has been 3 days since Emily parted from Solarhills. A longsword dragging behind her, Emily walked to her next destination. The temple of the night, the town of Nocturne. They worshiped the night sky and the stars and using its guidance they have cultivated many.

Emily was in the nowhere of a forest, lost in within the thousands of trees. She decides to stop and rest for the night and continue on.

Taking ingredients from her bag, Emily started to make some stew. There were not much to work with but that was all she could afford. The Winterbornes were looking all over for her so they can end the line of those who worship the Goddess of love.

Taking a stale bread, Emily starts to have her meal. The forest was cold and the only thing that was warming her up was the little fire and the stew in front of her.

Emily soon gets ready to sleep as it was reaching midnight. After cleaning up her surroundings she lies on the cold ground and closes her eyes.

Something was strange. It was warm unlike when Emily went to sleep last night. She felt a heavy blanket on top of her and the ground under her was shaking.

Gasping, Emily woke up. Something was definitely wrong. She knew she was not in the forest anymore.

"I see you've woken up. Your name is Emily, from the island of Lufu or the Goddess of love. Age 20. You're under arrest for manslaughter."

"What do you mean manslaughter?! I haven't killed anyone!"

"You're the sole survivour of the island of Lufu and until further investigation you're staying with us. You're our suspect number one."

Emily's face scrunched in disgust.

"Why are you investigating all of a sudden? It has been years! People around the world never cared for us! Who are you to arrest me?!"

The knight in front of Emily stopped looking at her but instead looked outside the window. Hands were firmly holding onto the chains that were binding her whole body.

For the first time in Emily's journey, she had no idea what to do from now on. Closing her eyes, she prayed to Lufu, her Goddess of love.
