The morning rays pierced through the curtains of Kurumi's bedroom, forcing Kurumi and Kuroka to wake up.
After the fight, Kurumi went to sleep. Even if she did not need any sleep because she is a half-spirit, she still had the habit of sleeping. It gave her comfort and relaxation, and it also helped clear her mind, so she didn't remove this habit.
"Morning, Kuroka," Kurumi said slowly as she saw Kuroka open her eyes. Kuroka was in her cat form, which made her appear cuter in Kurumi's eyes.
It wasn't because she thought Kurumi would pat her in this form, but Kurumi, of course, saw her thoughts even when she was in her cat form. So Kurumi gave her what she wanted: a pat on her head.
At the pat, Kuroka purred. She didn't know why, but Kurumi's pats gave her a completely different feeling. It was not pleasure or desire; it was more like a mother comforting her child.
Kurumi gave this feeling because she had taken care of many cats in the past, and as a result, she instinctively patted cats like that. Kuroka was no exception to this.
After a while, Kurumi withdrew her hand. Albeit a little disappointed, Kuroka didn't say anything, knowing Kurumi had her plans for today.
Both of them got out of bed and went straight for a refreshing morning bath. And indeed, both of them entered at the same time. Even though they looked at each other with loving interest, both of them were girls by origin. They didn't feel shy because of things like love interest; their pride was high in those matters.
- After Refreshing Bath | At Kitchen -
"Here you go," Kurumi said softly to Kuroka as she placed the plate in front of her.
After the bath, Kurumi made a simple breakfast for herself and Kuroka: toast and some sweets she had brought home yesterday, along with orange juice for both of them.
It was a simple yet heartwarming scene as they ate their food. The room was silent, with only the sounds of their eating and biting for a few minutes.
After they finished eating, Kurumi took the plates and started to wash them while talking with Kuroka.
"Do you have any plans today, Kuroka?" Kurumi asked as she put one of the plates in the dishwasher. Her tone was curious, indicating her interest in Kuroka's plans.
Kuroka softly shook her head, knowing Kurumi could see it even if she wasn't looking at her currently. "Not really. I don't have any missions today, so for now, I don't have any plans. Why do you ask, though?" Now it was Kuroka's turn to be curious; she knew Kurumi well enough to sense that there was more behind the question.
"Well, I was planning to go to the Hunter Guild. I want to register myself as a hunter," Kurumi explained without hiding her intentions from Kuroka. It wasn't particularly important information to her, and she had other reasons for wanting to register as a hunter, though she didn't feel the need to share them with Kuroka just yet.
Kuroka looked at Kurumi with suspicious eyes; call it her cat instinct, but she felt there was more to Kurumi's gesture than she was letting on. If Kurumi didn't tell her, perhaps she didn't fully trust her enough to share, or perhaps it wasn't worth mentioning at all. Even so, Kuroka shrugged; she didn't fully trust Kurumi either, so it was normal for them to keep secrets.
"I see... Were you going to ask me to come with you?" After Kurumi explained her reason, Kuroka nearly solved all the puzzles behind it.
Kurumi nodded softly as she looked at Kuroka after finishing washing the plates and putting them in the dishwasher. "Yeah. It's good to have company, isn't it?" Kurumi said nothing more, knowing very well that her words had left loopholes and more questions in Kuroka's mind.
As Kurumi had anticipated, more questions appeared in Kuroka's mind at Kurumi's response. However, she quickly dismissed those thoughts, knowing that thinking about them was useless for now.
"I'll come too then," Kuroka said, not waiting any longer with her own thoughts as she accepted Kurumi's proposal to tag along.
Kurumi nodded slowly, satisfied with the answer she got from Kuroka. She was half-expecting Kuroka to accept her request actually. It was also good for her that Kuroka accepted her request, as this gave her more leverage when she went to the Hunter Guild.
"Okay. Meet me at the door then. I will change my clothes first," Kurumi said softly to Kuroka. Her current clothes were simple and not suitable for going outside, especially to a formal place.
Kuroka also nodded, knowing Kurumi's clothes were inappropriate to wear when going to a formal place.
...
"Let's go," Kurumi said softly as she walked towards Kuroka, who was waiting next to the door.
Kurumi wore a red and black qipao that accentuated her graceful figure. Simple yet elegant red earrings added a touch of sophistication. Together, her outfit radiated a confident and professional aura.
(It's definitely not that I don't know any dress besides this...)
Kuroka, after seeing Kurumi, couldn't help but look at her a few times. Her previous demeanor had completely vanished as if it didn't exist in the first place. Now she had a more confident and elegant aura around her, like a princess of a kingdom.
"Ahem... If you look at me like that, I would get embarrassed, you know~?" Kurumi's mischievous and flirty tone brought Kuroka out of her intense focus on Kurumi, and she couldn't help but get embarrassed.
Her face almost looked like a tomato in Kurumi's view.
"A-Ah! Yes, let's go!" Kuroka said embarrassedly. Her face, instead of looking like a tomato, now had a tinge of red on her cheeks. She still couldn't get used to Kurumi's mischievous and flirty personality. It was her job to tease normally, but Kurumi always found her weak spots.
'Annoying... But it feels nice somehow...' Kuroka thought inwardly, a small smile forming on her face. But Kurumi couldn't see this beautiful scene.
...
Both Kurumi and Kuroka were walking on the streets of Kuoh Town, drawing attention from everyone around. Almost every person looked at them a few times to be sure if what they saw was real.
Even with all the attention they received, they didn't show any discomfort or displeasure. Their faces were calm and smiling, as if enjoying the attention they were getting. In a sense, they did feel good about the attention they received while walking.
After some time, they stopped in front of a really tall building. It had countless glass windows, and in the middle of the building, there was a sign saying 'The Hunter Guild'.
It was also quite crowded there, indicating that it was a famous place within Kuoh Town.
Kurumi and Kuroka slowly made their way into the building. Most of the people entering couldn't help but look at them, sensing their power and prowess. Most of the people here were Hunters, after all.
After both of them entered the Hunter Guild, they walked towards a receptionist. Surprisingly, the front of the receptionist was empty, while the other receptionists had long lines in front of them.
-
"Hello. We are here to take the Hunter Test. What should we do?" Kurumi said calmly after arriving in front of the receptionist.
After hearing Kurumi's voice, the receptionist lifted his head from the computer and looked at Kurumi and Kuroka for a brief moment before speaking.
"Hello. The test is 2000 yen. After that, we can proceed," the receptionist said politely, maintaining his professional demeanor even after seeing two heavenly beauties like Kurumi and Kuroka.
"I see. Here you go," Kurumi said softly, handing 4000 yen to the receptionist. Her tone carried a hint of surprise, but it was so subtle that no one could sense it.
After taking the money, the receptionist clicked and did some things on the computer and then got up. He gestured for Kurumi and Kuroka to follow him to the Mana Test Area.
While walking towards the Mana Test Area, Kurumi recalled her thoughts upon discovering that this world had dungeons and hunters. It was an interesting concept for her, one she had mostly seen in novels. Even so, she was happy to see these types of things in this world. She had big plans for the future, and her first step was registering herself as an S-Rank Hunter.
