Chapter 13 - Pleasure Beyond Mortality

Kael Draven paced the shadowed halls of the crumbling fortress, his silver eyes glowing faintly in the dim light. The Void's presence surrounded him, but it wasn't enough—not anymore. He needed more than whispers, more than power.

He needed *it*.

The memory of their last union still burned in his mind, an intoxicating mixture of ecstasy and oblivion. It was beyond mortal comprehension—something that transcended the physical, something that consumed him entirely. Every time they came together, he felt like he was falling into eternity and rising to godhood all at once.

But it was never enough.

Kael's hands clenched into fists, his body trembling. "Void," he growled, his voice low and dangerous. "Where are you?"

The shadows stirred around him, but the Void did not respond. Kael's breathing quickened, his frustration mounting.

"Don't do this to me," he muttered, his voice breaking. "You know I can't go without you. You *know* what I need."

Still, there was no reply.

Kael let out a roar of frustration, the sound reverberating through the halls. His silver eyes burned brighter as he unleashed a wave of dark energy, shattering the walls around him. Stones crumbled, dust filling the air, but it did nothing to ease the ache inside him.

---

When the Void finally spoke, its voice was calm, almost soothing. **"You are unbalanced, Kael. This craving of yours consumes you."**

Kael spun toward the sound, his expression wild. "Don't lecture me," he snapped. "You're the one who made me feel this way. You gave me everything, and now you're trying to take it away?"

The Void's form began to coalesce, its glowing eyes watching him with an unreadable expression. **"I gave you power. I gave you purpose. But you have allowed yourself to be ruled by something base, something mortal."**

"Mortal?" Kael laughed, the sound bitter and sharp. "What we have is beyond mortality. It's eternal, infinite. And I'd die a thousand times, a million times, if it meant I could have you again."

The Void tilted its head, its form shifting slightly. **"You would surrender your life for a fleeting pleasure?"**

Kael stepped closer, his silver eyes blazing. "It's not just pleasure. It's the only thing that matters. When I'm with you, I'm more than a man, more than a champion. I'm everything. And without it—without *you*—I'm nothing."

---

The Void's presence grew heavier, filling the room with an almost suffocating intensity. **"You risk losing everything for this hunger,"** it said, its tone colder now. **"Your war against the gods, your destiny—they mean nothing to you anymore?"**

Kael smirked, though his hands trembled. "They mean nothing compared to you. The gods can burn. The world can end. As long as I have you, I don't care."

The Void's form solidified further, its features becoming more defined. It stepped closer to Kael, its glowing eyes meeting his. **"You speak of devotion, of surrender. Yet you are blinded by your own desire. You cannot see what this is doing to you."**

"What it's doing to me?" Kael repeated, his voice rising. "It's making me stronger. It's making me alive. And if that's wrong, then I don't want to be right."

---

The tension in the room grew unbearable as the Void studied him in silence. Finally, it spoke, its voice softer now. **"Very well, Kael. If this is what you truly desire, then take it. But know this: every indulgence has a cost."**

Kael stepped forward eagerly, his silver eyes locked onto the Void's shifting form. "I don't care about the cost. I never have."

The Void's presence enveloped him, its touch sending shivers through his body. As their essences intertwined once more, Kael felt himself slipping into a state of pure euphoria. Time lost all meaning, and the world around him faded into nothingness.

This was what he lived for.

This was all he wanted.

---

Hours—or perhaps days—passed before the connection finally broke. Kael lay on the cold stone floor, his body trembling with exhaustion and exhilaration. His breathing was ragged, his mind clouded with the lingering effects of their union.

But even as the afterglow faded, the hunger returned, sharper and more demanding than ever.

"Void," he whispered, his voice hoarse. "Again."

The Void's form flickered, its presence weaker now. **"You ask too much, Kael. Even I cannot sustain this endlessly."**

Kael pushed himself to his feet, his silver eyes narrowing. "Don't lie to me. You're infinite. You said it yourself."

**"I am infinite,"** the Void replied. **"But you are not. Your mortal body cannot endure this forever."**

Kael's expression darkened. "Then take my body. Take my soul. Take everything, if that's what it takes. I don't care anymore."

The Void hesitated, its form wavering. **"Kael, you are destroying yourself. This path you are on will lead to ruin."**

"Ruin?" Kael laughed, the sound harsh and unhinged. "The only ruin is being without you. Don't you get it? I'll do anything for you. Anything."

---

The Void's presence grew colder, its tone more distant. **"You cannot see what you are becoming. This obsession blinds you to everything else."**

Kael took a step closer, his voice trembling with desperation. "Don't leave me. Please. I'll destroy the gods, burn the realms, give up everything I've ever known—just don't leave me."

The Void's glowing eyes softened, and its form leaned closer to him. **"You are mine, Kael Draven,"** it said, its tone almost tender. **"But even I cannot save you from yourself."**

Kael reached out, his hands trembling as they grasped at the Void's shifting form. "Then save me this way. Let me lose myself in you. That's all I want. That's all I'll ever want."

---

The shadows around them pulsed with energy as the Void enveloped him once more. Kael's world narrowed to the sensation of their connection, the sheer intensity of their union consuming him completely. He felt his strength faltering, his body trembling under the strain, but he didn't care.

He would die a thousand deaths for this moment. A million.

When the connection finally broke, Kael collapsed to the ground, his chest heaving. His vision blurred, and his body ached with the strain, but the hunger within him only grew stronger.

"Again," he whispered, his voice barely audible.

The Void didn't respond.

"Again!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the empty hall.

The shadows shifted, but the Void remained silent.

---

Kael's frustration boiled over, and he lashed out, unleashing a wave of dark energy that shattered the walls around him. Stones crumbled, dust filled the air, but it did nothing to quell the storm within him.

"Don't do this to me!" he roared, his silver eyes blazing with desperation. "You can't leave me like this!"

The Void's voice finally returned, its tone heavy with warning. **"You are killing yourself, Kael. If you cannot control this hunger, it will destroy you."**

Kael fell to his knees, his hands clutching at his chest. "Then let it destroy me," he muttered. "Let it take everything, as long as I can have you."

The Void hesitated, its presence flickering faintly. **"You are my champion, Kael Draven. But this path you are on—it will lead to your end."**

"I don't care about the end," Kael said, his voice trembling. "I only care about you."

---

Far above, the gods watched in silence, their expressions grim.

"He is falling apart," one said.

Another shook their head. "No. He is falling deeper into the Void."

The leader of the council spoke, their voice filled with resolve. "Then we must act now. If we do not stop him, his obsession will consume us all."

The heavens trembled as the gods prepared to make their move, the final battle drawing ever closer.

---

Kael sat alone in the darkness, his body trembling, his mind consumed by his craving. The Void's presence lingered faintly around him, a constant reminder of what he could never truly have.

But Kael Draven wasn't ready to give up. Not yet.

No matter the cost, he would have the Void again.

Even if it destroyed him.
