Cesare entered the bar, poured sparkling wine into a glass, and handed it to Rizzo.
He then filled his own glass with lukewarm water and took a seat at the bar table.
Rizzo whistled appreciatively and sat next to him.
Noticing Rizzo’s high spirits, Cesare began the conversation cautiously.
“Rizzo, I called you here today because there’s something I need to tell you.”
“I expected that. What’s the matter? Is it something that troubles you?”
‘Yes, and ‘troubles’ might be an understatement. It’s actually something you’d never even imagine...’
Cesare held back his impulsive reply, a subtle smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
As the handsome man with striking features allowed a faint smile to linger on his face, even Rizzo, who often regarded Cesare merely as a source of wealth and a business asset, momentarily lost his composure.
Shaking his head, he exclaimed,
“Hold on, that smile is completely unfair. Don’t smile like that!”
