It was only after the door closed that Zahir, with a voice still thick with tears that had yet to fall, asked,

“Why are you here?”

His tone sounded almost accusatory.

Cesare leaned back in his chair, a crooked smile forming on his lips.

“I was waiting for you. Wanted to see how far you’d come after me.”

However, Zahir seemed unsatisfied with the answer and shook his head vigorously.

This time, pointing more directly at the floor of the lecture hall, he clarified his question.

“I mean, why are you specifically HERE, in this place?”

‘Why in the place where you and I first met.’

There was likely an implication in his word, ‘here.’

Cesare understood the intention correctly this time but chose not to answer.

It was something Zahir had to figure out himself.

Otherwise, cutting all contact and fleeing to this place would have been in vain.

Thus, Cesare stared at Zahir quietly with deep eyes.

Zahir, standing in front of Cesare, swallowed nervously.
