"Why have you been sitting here without going in?" Logan finally woke up, rubbing his temples, feeling a severe headache.
"Who is Jade?" Scarlett sat in front of him, questioning.
"Did you go through my phone?" Logan glanced at her.
"I was just trying to make you a cup of honey water. As soon as I put down the cup, your phone kept lighting up."
Logan repeated, "You went through my phone?"
"Yes."
"Who gave you the right to go through my phone?"
Scarlett stood up, threw the phone at his face, and said, "You're keeping a mistress outside, and you have the nerve to ask if I went through your phone? That's hilarious. I must have been blind to fall for you back then."
"Scarlett, do you think too highly of yourself? I was just attracted to your looks initially, just wanting to have some fun. You didn't really think I liked you, did you? With my conditions, I can find any girl I want. Why would I need someone like you, who's been used by others?"
"Logan, it was you who said you liked me."
"Scarlett, don't you think you're acting too young for your age? Pretending to be some virtuous woman? I only married you because it was prestigious to have you by my side. You've been living off me for years—what have I done to you? I just had some fun with a few women outside, is it really that big of a deal?"
Scarlett was so angry she trembled all over. She grabbed the ashtray from the table and threw it at him, but Logan caught her wrist and flung her to the ground.
"Wah wah wah, Mom and Dad, don't fight. Ashley is scared."
Scarlett's head hit the table, and blood started flowing immediately.
Seeing her head bleeding, Logan squatted down and asked, "I didn't mean it. Are you okay? Let me take you to the hospital."
Scarlett shook off his hand and said, "Get away, I told you to get away."
Logan also got angry and said, "Fine, Scarlett, you're something. There will come a time when you'll beg me." He then slammed the door.
Scarlett sat on the floor, wiped the blood from her forehead, and then stood up unsteadily.
"Mom, you're bleeding a lot from your head."
"Wah wah wah, is mom going to die?"
Scarlett rubbed Ashley's head and said, "Mom's fine."
Ashley ran to get the first aid kit and said to Scarlett, "Mom, disinfect it."
Scarlett stood up, took out iodine and disinfectant from the first aid kit, and slowly disinfected the wound in front of the mirror, then applied some medicine.
Ashley hugged Scarlett and blew on her injury, saying, "Ashley will blow on it for mom, and mom won't hurt anymore." His eyes were filled with tears, as if he could cry at any moment.
Scarlett hugged him, pinched his face, and said, "Mom doesn't hurt."
...
William stayed outside for two periods before entering the class.
Daniel looked at William's expression and said, "William, there's food in the drawer for you, but it's already cold. Eating it wouldn't be good for your stomach. I'll buy you a new one in the next class."
William said, "No need, I won't eat."
"How can you not eat? William, you already have a weak stomach. If you don't eat, you'll have stomach pain again." Daniel remembered when William had stomach pain before, his face was as pale as paper, but he said he was fine.
William stared at Daniel with his black eyes for a while without speaking.
Daniel suddenly realized that he had just spoken to William in that tone. He licked his lips and wanted to say something more when he heard William say, "I'm not hungry."
"Alright."
William picked up the cold drink on the table and took a sip, playing with his phone in his hand from time to time.
As class was about to end, a sudden pain came from his stomach, and he reached out to rub it.
Ellie noticed his action, glanced at him, saw the cold drink still condensing water vapor on his desk, and then looked away.
William bit his lip, took out the coat from the drawer, pressed it against his stomach, and sat a little lower, intending to sleep for a while to get through the end of school. Next to him, a box of medicine was handed over, and he looked up to meet Ellie's gaze.
"For stomach pain."
"How did you know I have a stomachache?"
"I just saw you rubbing your stomach."
William was silent for a moment, wanting to ask how she saw it, but when he met her clear eyes, he said, "Thank you."
Ellie made a sound and put the medicine on his desk, then turned her head back to continue reading.
William held the medicine box in his hand, looked at Ellie who was quietly reading, and he had just rubbed his stomach, and she actually noticed.
Ellie stopped writing, thought of something, turned to look at William, and said, "Take one at a time, but medicine is just for relief. It's best to eat something."
William looked at her serious expression, so he was being lectured?
But the way she spoke so earnestly, she was really quite well-behaved.
William said, "Thank you."
Daniel was sitting in front, heard the conversation between the two, turned to William, and said, "William, I'll get you a cup of hot water."
William was about to say no need when he saw Daniel run to the water dispenser with a cup.
Hao Ming saw Daniel getting hot water at the back and said, "Tsk tsk, I must say, Yang, are you too weak? Why are you drinking hot water in the middle of summer?"
Daniel glared at him and said, "Get lost, this is for William."
"Is William's stomach condition acting up again? I'll buy a box of medicine for William. Tell the teacher I went to the bathroom and will be back soon."
Daniel held him back and said, "No need, William already has medicine."
Hao Ming: "?"
How could someone be faster than him?
Daniel pointed at Ellie and said, "Ellie just gave it. She also said that taking medicine is just for relief, and the most important thing is to eat. William actually listened patiently without arguing." But it seemed this wasn't the first time.
Hao Ming said, "If a pretty girl like Ellie reminded me to take my medicine, I wouldn't argue either."
"Get lost, what kind of daydream are you having in broad daylight?" Daniel teased Hao Ming, put the hot water on William's desk, and said, "There's no new cup, William, make do with this one, take your medicine first."
William took a pill, put it in his mouth, took a sip of water, and said, "Mm."
He put the remaining medicine on Ellie's desk and said, "Thank you for the medicine, little classmate."
Ellie picked up the medicine from her desk, put it in her bag, and she wanted to argue that she wasn't a little classmate, she wasn't small at all, but felt it was pointless to argue about this. She spoke softly, "You're welcome."
