Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Youthful Madness

Mayukov's whistle did not sound again, perhaps because there was really nothing wrong with the ball, or perhaps because Mayukov himself was frightened by the goal and forgot to blow the whistle.

After coldly questioning his opponent, Chen Yingxiong did not continue to stay in front of the goal. He turned and walked off the court.

From the very beginning when the coach arrogantly ridiculed him and his father, Chen Yingxiong had no intention of starting his professional career in this team, regardless of whether he could get noticed by the Central Army.

Others look down on me, so there is no need to stay here with such a shameless face. This is a team that does not know how to respect people.

Although they are a top club in the Russian league, they do not have the bearing of a top club.

Amid the astonished gazes of the crowd, Chen Yingxiong walked straight to his father.

"Let's go, Dad." Chen Yingxiong leaned over and picked up the big backpack on the ground.

"Just leave?" Chen Tao asked.

Chen Yingxiong nodded. "I don't want to play in a team that looks down on me."

Chen Tao thought about it and felt that what his son said made sense. If others looked down on you, there was no need to curry favour with them.

but...

"Then we'll just have to go home, hero."

"If I want to go home, then I can go out to work!" Chen Yingxiong said firmly.

Chen Yingxiong was unwilling to give up his football dream. But the game was over, what else could he do? The outcome could not be changed. If he lost, he lost. He lost this most crucial game and lost the chance to advance.

The only thing he could do now was...try his best to leave here with dignity.

"Let's go, Dad!" Chen Yingxiong took the lead and left the training ground.

Chen Tao felt sorry for his son, but what else could he do? They had already made all the efforts they could and endured difficulties that ordinary people could not. There was nothing they could do if the outcome was not satisfactory. He put on his backpack and followed his son.

The two of them turned around and left the training ground in full view of everyone.

Latysh was stunned for a moment, then suddenly grabbed Valery Minko beside him and said, "Go! Leave him to me!"

Minko was a little surprised. "Who?"

"Who do you think I'm talking about?" Latysh glared at this stupid subordinate.

"Uh...are you planning to..." After figuring out who it was, Minko was even more surprised.

"Give him a week's trial period, observe his abilities closely, and then make a decision." Latysh gave Minko an order and made a decision at the same time.

The previous view that the Chinese had no talent now seemed to be wrong. His physical fitness was indeed quite good. If he could be used reasonably and if special training was carried out for heading, it may not be a complete waste...

When Minko finally reached the duo, Chen Yingxiong and his father were almost at the gate. The two were easy to spot. They were carrying eye-catching large backpacks one on each shoulder, which made them very conspicuous in the crowd. CSKA Moscow was not one of the most famous European clubs. There were only a handful of foreign fans who came to watch the game with all their belongings. So Minko found his target in the crowd at a glance.

"Wait a minute! Wait a minute..." He waved and shouted from behind. "Hey!"

However, the two people in front did not react at all, they did not turn their heads or hear footsteps.

He had no choice but to catch up directly...

Finally, they were stopped at the gate.

Minko, who was still panting, didn't waste time talking to Chen Yingxiong and asked directly. "Do you want to stay and play for CSKA?" He asked directly.

Chen Yingxiong answered directly as well. "Not at all!" There was no hesitation on his face.

Minko didn't expect to get such an answer.

He knew why the father and son came to the training ground. Wasn't it because they hoped that the team would give them a chance to try out, be noticed, and then sign a contract to become a professional player?

Now the kid in front of him had finally won the attention of Latysh through his efforts. Shouldn't he accept the trial training request proposed by CSKA without hesitation and thank Latysh for his magnanimity?

"What?" He thought he had heard wrongly.

"I told you I don't want to stay in CSKA to play football at all!" Chen Yingxiong spoke very slowly in English, enunciating each word to make sure that the Russian in front of him heard it clearly and would not have any questions.

"Have you thought it through?" Minko was a little surprised. "I know... uh..." He hesitated to speak.

Chen Yingxiong on the opposite side smiled.

It seemed that the other party also knew what was wrong. He enjoyed the embarrassment of the coach in front of him.

His smile angered the somewhat embarrassed Minko. CSKA Moscow was a Russian powerhouse after all. As the coach of the youth team, he was willing to personally persuade Chen Yingxiong to stay. He was already giving face!

"Don't think that you have any capital just because you were able to score a goal in the test just now... I tell you, they are just the youth team, and they may not even be able to play as the main players..."

Chen Yingxiong interrupted the other party directly. "I don't care who you are. Even if you call the main defence of the first team, I can score goals over their heads!" Chen Yingxiong and Minko were competing with each other.

Regardless of whether Chen Yingxiong could really break the main defence of the Central Army in the game, he had a point to make.

Minko laughed - why should he be fighting with an arrogant kid who didn't know his importance?

He shook his head. "I hope you think carefully about why you are here. You must know it better than me. This is your chance. But we won't always give you such opportunities."

"I don't even want the chance you gave me. Look, I'm rejecting you now, aren't I?" Chen Yingxiong shrugged and pouted. Chen Yingxiong would never accept charity. "Anyway, letting me go is not my loss, but yours."

Minkoo found the big guy in front of him even funnier.

"Our loss? Ha..."

The ignorant are truly fearless!

He didn't want to waste any more time talking to this idiot, so he turned and left.

If Latysh asks me about it when I get back, I can just repeat what I said. I believe any person with a normal IQ would have made a different judgment.

This was indeed the case. When Latysh heard what Minko said, he sneered. "Scoring a goal over the heads of Semberas, Ignashevich and the Berezutsky brothers? Ha!"

He laughed, and so did the others around him.

Deividas Semberas was a Lithuanian international. Although he was only 26 years old, he had already made 43 appearances for the national team.

Sergey Ignashevich was 25 years old and has played 21 times for the Russian national team. He has long been the main central defender of the Russian national team. Before the 2004 European Cup, he retired from the national team due to injury. As a result, Russia suffered a disastrous defeat in the European Cup. The only thing worth praising is that they were the only team that defeated the champion of that cup, Greece...

The young Berezutskiy twins, although only 23 years old, were already regulars in the Russian national team. The elder brother, Alexey Berezutskiy, had played 14 times for the country as a left-back. The younger brother, Vasily Berezutskiy, had been selected for the national team 10 times as a right back. They were also the main full-backs of CSKA Moscow.

These four people formed the main back line of the Central Army.

They were all at the national team level. Did that oriental kid really dare say that he could score goals against these people?

Latysh shook his head and waved his hands dismissively. "Forget it. There's no need to get angry over a fool..." He regretted using the youth team then. Maybe this person's physical fitness was indeed excellent, and he had a little talent in heading, but what can such a performance prove?

Anyone could get lucky. He had no interest in letting such an ignorant and arrogant person join CSKA.

"Just reject it directly, okay, hero?" Chen Tao asked his son as they walked out of the gate of the Central Army Training Base.

"What's wrong with that, Dad? Didn't you notice how those people treated us? It was like they were just looking at an idiot clown!" Chen Yingxiong said indignantly.

At the training base, Dad asked himself to restrain himself. He had a lot of anger but nowhere to vent it. He had been unhappy for a long time. He even felt that he was too polite to the coach just now. He should have said something more harsh to make the other party furious.

"But in this way, you..." Chen Tao seemed more unwilling and frustrated than his son.

"Hey, didn't I tell you? If you really can't do it, go home and work. As long as you are willing to work, how can you starve to death these days? I've come to terms with it, Dad. At worst, I'll stop playing professional football and change my way of life. I used to be too decadent, but I've learned a lot from this trip out here." Chen Yingxiong patted his father's shoulder generously.

"What did you learn?" Chen Tao asked with interest.

"Uh..." Chen Yingxiong scratched the back of his head. "Too much, I can't name it all at once... But if you want to be a hero, you can be a hero anywhere."

Chen Tao smiled as he looked at his confident son.

His son used to be very confident. He had a physical advantage over his peers and played in the youth team of a professional football club. His future looked bright. But he was afraid that this trip to Europe would undermine his son's confidence and make him completely give up on himself, and even start to deny his football life in the past twelve years...

Now it seemed that his son was still confident. The father was relieved and agreed with his son that if he really wanted to be successful, he could be successful everywhere. No matter whether he played football in the future or not, he had to have confidence in himself. "Let's go back to the hotel. I'll take you to visit Red Square and the Kremlin tomorrow... We've been out for a month, but we haven't been to any tourist attractions. It will be hard to explain to your mother when we go back..."

Ruslan Panchenko, who had been watching from the sidelines, felt it was time for him to make his debut.

From the moment when Chen Yingxiong's father begged CSKA Moscow assistant coach Latysh on the sidelines of the training ground, to when Chen Yingxiong faced the entire defence line of the CSKA Youth Team alone, repeatedly failed and got up again and again, and finally scored that beautiful goal, he was a very attentive spectator standing by.

He stopped Chen Yingxiong and his father in the parking lot outside the CSKA training base.

Chen Yingxiong looked at the man in front of him with ill intent - he thought Panchenko was a lobbyist for the Moscow Central Army.

"Sorry, I've already said I won't play football for you." He expressed his opinion in English, seeming impatient.

Panchenko was not angry at Chen Yingxiong's attitude but asked with a smile. "Excuse me, are you unwilling to play for Zenit Saint Petersburg?"

Chen Yingxiong was stunned for a moment.

He had never heard of Zenit St. Petersburg.

"What team is that?" Chen Tao asked on behalf of his son. He also knew nothing about the name and was very unfamiliar with it.

"It's a professional team in St. Petersburg, which ranked third in the Super League last season." Panchenko introduced. "Your physical fitness is excellent, I think you have the qualities to be a professional player..."

Chen Yingxiong suddenly asked: "You don't charge any referral fee, right?"

Panchenko was stunned by Chen Yingxiong's question, while Chen Tao explained awkwardly, "It's like this. We were cheated in Italy before. The other party also claimed to be a scout..."

Ruslan Panchenko shook his head and laughed. "How could that be? I won't charge you a penny. I work for Zenit and the club is responsible for my salary. I won't ask you for a single ruble."

Chen Yingxiong still looked at the other party doubtfully.

Panchenko also knew what the other party was suspecting. Coming to a strange country and having been deceived before, they really had to be on high alert.

He spread out his hands. "I'm sorry, I don't have anything to prove my identity at the moment. But this is my phone number. You can think about it and decide after you have thought it through. When you do, please don't forget to call me." As he said that, he wrote down a phone number with a pen, wrote his name, and handed it to Chen Yingxiong.

Then he spread his hands and said, "I just gave you a phone number. I didn't ask you for a penny. I hope you can believe me."

After saying that, he said goodbye to the two people.

Chen Yingxiong and Chen Tao stared at the back of this man who suddenly appeared and claimed to be a scout from Zenit St. Petersburg for a while. Then Chen Yingxiong lowered his head and looked at the phone number in his hand. He looked at it for more than ten seconds and then stretched out his hand to Chen Tao.

"What?" asked the father.

"Call and try to see if the number is in service!"
