Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Get Lost

Huacheng's upscale villa district amidst the misty water clouds.

"My love, you're back, just one more soup and it'll be ready," Li Feng attentively placed the slippers at the feet of his wife, Zhang Xue, and helped her remove her high heels.

"My love, the backs of your feet are rubbed red again. I've told you not to wear these stiletto heels that hurt your feet. Let me apply some ointment for you later, and give you a foot massage."

"Can you not be so fussy, it's annoying."

Zhang Xue withdrew her feet and slipped on the slippers, threw her coat directly at Li Feng, and walked straight into the villa's living room.

Li Feng hung the coat that was tossed in his face on a nearby coat rack.

"My love, don't be mad, it's my fault, all my fault. Let's eat first; I made your favorite braised spare ribs and stuffed winter melon."

"Where's the child?"

"Just finished drinking milk and was put to sleep; shouldn't wake up anytime soon. My love, it's been a long time since we've had a world of our own."

Li Feng walked behind the couch, stretching out his hands towards Zhang Xue's shoulders. Zhang Xue twisted her body and shook off Li Feng's hands.

"Li Feng, sit down."

"My love, don't be so serious, it scares me." Li Feng looked at Zhang Xue uneasily.

"I told you to sit down."

Li Feng circled to the front of the couch and sat down next to Zhang Xue, who then got up and walked to a single-seater sofa, her beautiful eyes gazing at Li Feng.

"Li Feng, let's get divorced."

Li Feng looked at Zhang Xue, shocked and color draining from his face.

"My love, that's not a funny joke. If there's anything I didn't do right, just tell me, and I'll change. Why are you suddenly asking for a divorce?"

Zhang Xue crossed her arms and looked coldly at Li Feng: "Why? Don't you understand?"

"You're just a worthless wimp, what else can you do besides taking care of the child and cooking? Look at yourself, do you even look like a man?"

"My love, if you resent me for not making money, I can go out and find a job."

Zhang Xue scoffed coldly.

"Find a job? Do you think jobs are that easy to find? Even if you do find one, how much can you earn in a month, three thousand or five thousand? Is that enough for the baby's formula?"

Li Feng bit his lip and took a deep breath: "Let's be clear, my love. You want a divorce, not because I'm incompetent. Just say it straight."

Zhang Xue glanced at Li Feng, still haughty.

"Yes, I had an affair."

"Who is it?"

Zhang Xue looked at Li Feng, whose fists were clenched, and sneered coldly: "What, you're going to find him and beat him up if I tell you?"

"Fine, I'll tell you. It's Qi Shaobin from Sihai Real Estate."

"My love, can't we avoid divorce? Our child is just over a year old. Please, I'm begging you."

Li Feng suppressed the rage in his heart, got up from the couch, and knelt beside Zhang Xue's legs to plead. Zhang Xue looked down at this man, groveling and spineless, without a trace of pity.

"Li Feng, you really have no spine."

Zhang Xue looked coldly at Li Feng: "You don't need to worry about the child; he'll be happier with his real father, won't he?"

Li Feng stood up abruptly, his eyes bulging with fury.

"What did you say? Say that again."

"Li Feng, you dare to yell at me?"

Zhang Xue stood up, pushed Li Feng with one hand, and he fell heavily onto the coffee table. She looked down at Li Feng with contempt.

"Hmph, Li Feng, you didn't really think I married you because I liked you, did you? The only reason I let you become a live-in son-in-law was that I got pregnant."

"You want to talk about that night, right? I was drunk and ended up in bed with you. But with your spineless behavior, do you really think you could have gotten me pregnant in one night?"

"Even if it really was yours, did you think I would keep it? You're an orphan with neither father nor mother, just a nobody. You did well in your studies, worked really hard and were ambitious, but to this society, you're just a poor loser, a salted fish. Try as you might to turn over, you're still just a salted fish."

"You should feel fortunate to have been a live-in son-in-law in my house for two years; otherwise, someone like you would never find a woman, doomed to be a single dog for life."

Li Feng stood stunned as if struck by lightning, completely devastated. Zhang Xue looked at Li Feng with disdain.

"I don't want to say more nonsense. Get out of this house. I don't want to see you again. The divorce agreement will be sent by my lawyer. According to the prenuptial agreement, none of the property or house under my name will be yours. As for your property..." "Heh."

Zhang Xue sneered at the corner of her mouth. The guy's pockets were cleaner than his face; even his spending money was given by her. Zhang Xue turned coldly and walked upstairs.

Shortly after, Zhang Xue threw Li Feng's belongings stuffed into a suitcase down the stairs.

"Consider these alms. Take your stuff and get lost."

Li Feng silently picked up a few scattered clothes and toiletries, which did not even fill half a suitcase.

Standing up, with a smile through tears, he raised his head to look up at the aloof Zhang Xue, her arms crossed in indifference.

"Zhang Xue, thank you."

Zhang Xue snorted, turned around, and walked upstairs. She was a bit afraid that Li Feng might act desperately. Li Feng watched her leave, then pulled his suitcase out the door.

Outside, a drizzly winter rain was falling.

Li Feng looked up, letting the cold rain slap against his face: "Thank you for making me stop believing in love."

Li Feng walked determinedly into the rain.

"Spineless wretch."

From the second-floor bedroom, Zhang Xue stood by the window, watching Li Feng leave, and scoffed coldly. She then took out her phone: "Hello, Shaobin, I've kicked that loser out. Are you coming over tonight to see the child?"

"Oh, you're already here. Mm, I'm waiting for you."

A blush crept up Zhang Xue's face as she turned and walked into her walk-in closet.

Near the community gate, Li Feng carrying a suitcase arrived at the gate when suddenly, a luxury sedan sped by from the side of the road, splashing him completely with muddy water.

The sedan did not drive away but backed up a few dozen meters, and the rear window rolled down.
