Chapter 6 - Chapter 5-Testing

(Ruins POV)

Early morning, at this time I would have work to go and do, but this

[Emergency Announcement]

-All (Departments) and (Institutes) employees will not be allowed to go to work due to an earthquake that occured yesterday early evening, please be advised and follow your respective departments orders. That will be all, thank you.

First off, was there even an earthquake yesterday? I didn't notice, or maybe it happened during that weird encounter with that thing, maybe...

Second, I don't think they'd just pause peoples work all of a sudden just because of an earthquake, also it was yesterday, it would just be unreasonable.

Third, what's this then?

(1)[Assigned work for Ruin]

[]Fix Wiring issue

[]Retrieve Remains and corpses of Staff found in the catacombs

[]Destroy Weed and Overgrowth found in the Catacombs

[Location:Division 9-Catacombs]

This is getting very odd, since if the announcement says that "*every* department is currently not allowed to work", then that would mean, this isn't from the main department.

Now I know, I have Two-factor authentication on, and so I know this isn't hacked either

I then check my mail and security information

Yup, haven't been hacked yet.

So it's either A. This is an error or B. This is for real. I should probably call the main department shouldn't I? Y'know so I can verify if this is real or not

Wait no, what am I doing? I have this

I then focus back on the message popup once again, as I do I try to do the same as I did to test this almost omniscient ability I had obtained last night.

[The First Task has been given. Do what you are asked, this is not false or a error, an intentional job you have been given.]

...Did it speak back? No this is probably all just me, or it could be that the format changes depending on what is being asked? Nonetheless, atleast I know this isn't false.

Then I should get going to division 9, that place is a bit more lively than the others, it's primarily a division who's entire purpose is to act as a sort of large greenhouse area, something about climate change? Well there's no purpose on talking about it. Let's move on.

I then reach into my uniform I had hanged In my wardrobe, as I put on the suit and red tie, I begin to move to leave my home.

As I make my way outside, and walk my way to division 9, I notice something off, I look around the street I am at, there was no one to be seen

I stopped on my tracks, repeatedly blinked and as I do, I find that there were now people countless businessmen in suit, families going about their day, how odd.

I move again, as I looked intently at the going people, I notice other people around me notice something amiss, I begin to focus on my path, not making myself look like a creep or someone suspicious.

As I passed the countless buildings, the subway station I refused to go on as I much preffered walking to my job, Look I'm a cheap person and I have no shame in it.

After a while I stopped, to see the same neon pannel put on a building, the color being a bright lime, that reads "(Division 9)"

This is great. Now then to find the entrance to the catacombs, it should be somewhere in the middle of this division or I could find a subway station and enter there, since there is a path leading down.

As I moved forward on this awfully quiet street, that is occasionally being broken by the sounds of sprinklers setting off and birds chirping, I soon arrive at what I can see as the center of the division or the uh think of it as the main hub.

I look around to see countless people in white lab coats, some of them wearing aprons and people in construction wear pass by one another, all of them seemingly preoccupied by their respective work.

This isn't anything out of the ordinary, the people here tend to be surprisingly dedicated with their work, which I can't blame. Since unlike the other jobs in the other divisions, this one is the tamest.

Your job Is either Transport or cargo, research of herblore and plantlife, isn't both the same? And tending to the agriculture, that can be found above the highrise building around here, and to this date I am still baffled about the idea of how they decided to just grow their crops above buildings.

I'm not an engineer, I'm not questioning it and I'm especially not talking more about it this place I live has a lot of surprises in store.

Anyways, as I confidently make my way around this crowded place, I've been here a lot of times now, peaceful place overall.

As I turn the corners around this place, I find a small flight of stairs leading down, the catacomb entrance looks old and has cobwebs and built up dust, it seems no one has went here for a while now.

I begin to make my way down, my steps echoing the walls, as I begin my descent and soon I arrive in front of a old and delapidated catacombs, countless tunnels leading to one another connecting each Division with it's length.

Now to look for some weeds to take apart and the dead people that supposedly is also in here, and also the wiring issue. Let's hope this doesn't take a while.

I then begin my walk along the catacombs, as I make my way and pass through tunnels, this place is surprisingly clean, I mean more cleaner then the other divisions. this place still looks old and worn down but atleast there isn't litter here or anything that reeks so it's better than most.

I soon stop as I turn to a corner, as I do I spot a wall of vines and roots blocking my path, the entire path before me, blocked and covered in thick vines and pink flowers to it.

"This is certainly something" I mutter under my breath in disbelief, This isn't normal, no it's not usually it's either some like old seeds or plants that somehow ended up here and adapted and grew in this environment, but looking at this? This is far from normal.

I then use the palm of my hand to touch the wall of thick vines, as I do, I hear the sounds of crunching that seems to be just behind this wall, as I hear this I quickly pull out my hand in panic.

Nothing happened thankfully, but that's certainly odd and mildly concerning, I mean in the first place I doubt any plant in the world could grow this thick and to an extent where it can block a whole industrial sized tunnel with it's size, I mean maybe it's possible if the Magic beanstalk was real.

But we are not in a fantasy story, hopefully.

I then touch it again with my left hand as I do, the same crunching sounda can be hear behind again, however instead of pulling away, I mutter [Ignite], a small matchstick fire appears in my hands, as I do, I direct the fire into the Wall of Vines.

As it makes contact it begins to spread and slowly burn the wall, I step back and carefully watch the fire spread and burn the Wall.

Let me try something

(B-Artifact 032- Or the "Emergency Abomination Seed" is an Artifact made to combat famines and was a combination of Weird and questionable seeds and Crops as well as inedible plantlife such as flowers and saplings. It has no recorded limit to it's growth and change)

...

Ok first off, What's a Artifact? I don't remember once hearing anything about an artifact, unless I missed it on the news, but I think I would notice a big fuck off Wall of Vines or tree or whatever this thing is supposed to be now.

Second, What do you mean "No recorded limit to it's growth and change"? So meaning this thing doesn't have a limit at all no? If this omniscient ability serves me correct, if it says no record.

That means this thing won't stop growing forever.

Third, How am I supposed to deal with this? I have a slight ability to control energy, A Black sword and this new omniscient-ish ability, that's it, I'm afraid.

I turn my eyes back to the burned wall of vines, as ash and char is left in it's wake after the fire I had started. I looked ahead and as I do I see even more vines and green roots from the ground, also the tunnel seems to be strangely longer than the others I've passed.

Today's gonna be a long day.
