Chapter 2 - Darkness

Dangling from the Beast's jaws, I looked for the patrol to see if they would come to my aid. Thankfully the Beast sensed the danger coming towards it and stood up on its hind legs hoping to intimidate it, instead all it did was give me a better view as I watched 3 wolves slowly creeping towards us. If you didn't have good eyesight you would have missed the movement and mistaken it for the light breeze that was blowing.

Before the Beast could react the wolves zeroed in on it, one clamped it's jaws around the Beasts throat while the others went for its hind legs. An ear piercing roar sent me falling to the ground, hitting the damp grass I lay halfway conscious as the wolves continued their onslaught attack. The Beast swiped its paw at their legs barely missing but snagging it's claws deep into my thigh. A gut wretching scream escaped my lips. My eyes fluttered closed as the battle still raged on despite my efforts to stay awake.

The darkness consumed me, wrapping itself around me like an oversized blanket beckoning me to accept its warmth. I welcomed it, looks like the Moon Goddess couldn't save me after all.

Rowan POV:

This has got to be the biggest werebear I've ever seen. This can't be an ordinary werebear, something felt off about it but for now I will just take note of that. It's claws were so sharp it didn't take a genius to know that one swipe would be a death sentence. Normally we didn't fight these creatures unless there were more of us or it encroached too close to our territory however hearing a scream for help was not normal in these parts so Jackson and Liam were in agreement to hide until we saw what we were potentially getting ourselves into.

Jackson POV:

I have no clue who this girl is but she is losing a lot of blood. The coppery stentch of her blood was saturating the air around us as blood pooled around her leg injury. I mindlink Rowan letting him know that we need to get her to a pack doctor soon or she will bleed out. Her breathing is labored and shallow at this point it would be a miracle if she lives.
