Scarlett watched Nathan from the cabin's threshold as he prepared their supplies.
Ethan sat apart from the group, sharpening a knife his countenance calm. His presence was a reminder of their risky position—ally or foe, he held too many of the cards.
Lang approached Scarlett; his face grim.
"We've patched the defenses, but it won't hold if they come at us again with everything, they've got in their disposal we need to find somewhere else to stay for our safety." He suggested.
Scarlett nodded, her eyes scanning the woods beyond. "We need a new plan. Staying here is suicide."

Inside the cabin, the group huddled around a crude map of the surrounding area. Ethan tapped a point near the eastern ridge.
"There's an old ranger station here," he said.
"Abandoned, but it has a working radio. If we can get there, we might be able to call for reinforcements."
Nathan's jaw tightened.
