Chapter 29 - Memories

Samuel found himself floating within this white space. He could not feel anything below his feet, but at the same time, he felt that he was elevating, but there was nothing that was making him to stay afloat.

It was as If there was no gravity in this place at all. And, as he looked around, he realized that this entire place was just a wide expanse of white.

Samuel was totally confused, not understanding what was going on. After all, just a few moments ago, he had been trying to refine the energy that had been absorbed by the golden light, but even before he could do that, he was brought here.

And as he was confused about what was going on, he suddenly felt his vision blurring once again. But instead of going back to his room in order to continue with the refinement of the energy, he found himself in a place that was very familiar to him.

Samuel looked at his surroundings with emotions, as he realized that somehow, he had appeared outside the village that he had known his entire life. This village was still bustling with people, with the villagers standing outside the village.

It was just that something that he did not understand was that, the villagers were standing there, looking at him, and fear was clear in their eyes.

Samuel could even see his father within the crowd. And, as he tried to speak, he realized that even though he was shouting, it was as if nobody could hear what he was saying.

And even when he tried to approach the villagers, it felt as if his entire body was locked in the place where he was, not allowing him to be able to move at all. He could only observe, but do nothing at all.

"This is bad! There is a monster that is coming over! All of you, prepare yourselves to retreat. We cannot fight against a monster!" Samuel heard his father speaking.

The moment that he heard those words, he finally understood what was going on. It seemed that this is what had happened during the time that he had gone out to do the hunting, only to come back to find that the village had been attacked.

Even though he was confused about how he had gotten back here, but still, he observed the situation. The only thing that he found to be confusing was the fact that even as his father spoke, he was actually looking straight towards him.

It was clear from his actions that he was referring to Samuel as a monster. And that was something that left Samuel utterly confused, not understanding what to do here.

Then suddenly, Samuel thought of something. He decided to look at his body, and it was then that he realized something was completely out of place. Why was it that his body had changed, and he was no longer a human?

It was no other that his vision was quite high, looking down at his father and the rest of the villagers. It turned out that his body was no longer that of a human, but instead, that of a monster, and a lion at that.

Additionally, just by observing a few features of this lion, Samuel could not help but be utterly surprised. Why was this lion quite familiar in terms of appearance? Did it not look like the lion that had been killed by his eagle?

As he was questioning himself about that, he was forced to experience what his father and the rest of the villagers had gone through. The lion attacked two times, and no matter how much Samuel struggled in order to be able to prevent the lion from attacking, he was completely helpless.

He could only watch on as the lion attacked his father, injuring him. And, it was during this time that he noticed that before the first fireball reached his father, it seemed that something had actually appeared in the front of his father.

It was just that that creature that had appeared in front of his father had been totally annihilated by the flames that had been launched by the lion.

It was clear that that creature did not have enough capabilities to be able to resist the flames of the lion. But still, even though it had been dealt with, with the flames continuing to reach his father, it had at least blocked the majority of the flames.

Perhaps that was the reason why his father had been able to survive until the time that Samuel went back home, and his father narrated to him everything that had been hidden from him.

Samuel was feeling extremely emotional at this point. He had just witnessed his father being attacked, and even though he knew that his father was not dead, he understood that he was going to die in just a few hours.

Samuel was feeling extreme hatred towards the lion that had attacked. He did not understand how the lion had managed to get to the village, considering that in all the years that he had been within the village, they had never experienced a monster attack.

Regardless, something else that confused him was the fact that according to the information that he possessed, the location of the village, the forest, was where the monsters inside could not go out.

And right now, it was clear to Samuel that he was experiencing the memories of the lion when it was alive. And, in order to get the memories, it was clear that the golden light that was within his body was the one that had collected it.

That was something that had been done during the time that the monster tide was attacking. So, how was it possible that this lion had managed to get out of the forest, and nobody noticed it?

As he found this issue unusual, the memories continued. It was just that the memories did not seem to be going forward, but instead, it was going backwards.

It was like Samuel was watching a movie in reverse. After that incident where the village was attacked, everything else was going back in time. And in just a little while, Samuel found something else.

It seemed that a few days before the monster attacked the village, it was only a one-star monster. That was during the time that it had entered into the forest. And after entering the forest, it killed several monsters, and its power seemed to be growing as it killed.

But there was another thing, as long as it killed a human, it's strength would increase much more as compared to killing monsters of the same level as the humans.

Perhaps that was the reason why this monster had gone ahead and attacked the village.

Regardless, the moment that the monster's memories went back to the time that it was just a one-star monster, everything went blank. And in the next moment, Samuel found himself back within the white space.

Samuel was once again confused. He was wondering, what was the origin of this monster? The monsters all over the world had an origin of their own, either coming from another dimension, or being born by the monsters present within this world.

But for the lion, it was as if it just appeared inside the forest, and at that time, it was already at the peak stage of one star rank. It did not make that much sense, but that was just how it was.

But just as Samuel thought that this was the end of the memories of the lion, something else happened. Samuel felt that the area in front of him was suddenly twisting.

The twisting was akin to that of the very space itself being twisted and being crumbled like paper. But just as the space was about to collapse, a golden light appeared, and then, something like a portal appeared as the golden light disappeared.

Just as Samuel thought that this portal was what he was supposed to use in order to go back to the real world, he was shocked when he felt that there was tremendous pressure that was coming from within the portal.

And more than that, there was a huge amount of killing intent that was coming out of the portal. Even though the killing intent was not directed at him, Samuel felt his entire body freezing. It was as if he was experiencing a situation where he was completely helpless, not having the ability of resisting at all.

Samuel understood this feeling. Even though he had not experienced it before, he had heard of it. This was a situation where a person would meet with a supreme being, something more powerful than they themselves, which would immediately take away their will of resisting.

At the same time as he was experiencing the killing intent, a huge eye suddenly appeared within the portal. The eye did not come out of the portal, but instead, it was within the portal. In fact, it felt like the entire portal was an eye.

Just how big was that eye? The portal itself had a diameter of nearly 50 meters by estimation. So, if that was just the eye, how big was the creature that owned the eye?

As he was still wondering about that, a voice that shook his entire soul came from the portal.

"Quite a surprise. I never anticipated that someone out there was actually capable of dealing with my clone. The plan that I had issued before releasing the clones is something that is supposed to be fail-proof. Anyway, it seems that I will have to check this out." The voice was masculine, deep enough to be able to make someone's heart to shake.
