Christine convinced Anna to stay after the game, not that Anna wasn't planning to do same. It felt safer since Christine brought it up instead. Anna thought Christine's eyes sparkled when Kelvin's friend, Dylan, smiled at her.
The field was almost deserted when Kelvin came out of the locker room with his team. She overheard that they were going to celebrate at a party. Danger lights flashed in Anna's eyes. It was enough to be caught hanging on Kelvin, but a party? Anna didn't think she could stomach that.
So she shook her head, declining their invitation.
"But you promised to …"
"Christine, you know I can't do that " Anna whispered back. She looked to the expectant crowd as they awaited their reply, then back at her room mate. "You go have fun, and be careful. Okay?"
"Are you sure you don't want to come along?"
