"Fiancé?"
Litia narrowed her eyes.
"Yes, after the battle between the Evil God and the Creator God, both fell into an eternal slumber. She sent me to the world to find a suitable successor to inherit her power."
"The reason I was shaped into a human form was to avoid detection by the goddesses and prevent them from uncovering any clues."
Wu Chen spoke solemnly.
Although he was essentially deceiving Litia, he wasn't completely lying.
The witches' power was immense, yet human lords still managed to unite and resist their invasion, albeit barely.
This is because, in their quest to seize the inheritance of the Evil God's power, the witches are not united; they even engage in wars and conflicts with each other.
The demon race was strong, humans were weak, but the demons were divided and at odds with one another. Humans, under the leadership of players, were united, advancing in technology, researching magic, and developing agriculture. This allowed them to contend with the demons.
The reason witches fought each other was due to the Evil God's decree before falling into slumber: whoever could conquer the human world and subjugate the other witches would inherit all of the Evil God's power and authority.
The Evil God: Want my treasures and power? I've hidden them at the end of the human world. To get them, go conquer the world!
And thus, the era of the Great Witches began!
Cough cough, got off track.
"I know the mother goddess wants to choose a successor, but doesn't it require ruling both the demon world and the human world as a condition for succession?"
Litia appeared puzzled.
Wu Chen's words made her believe even more that he had deep connections with the Evil God.
The matter of finding a successor was known only to the highest echelons of the demon world!
It was a top-secret matter!
"We're running out of time. The creator goddess is showing signs of awakening. If we don't quickly find a successor, even if we're dominating now, we'll be overturned by the wind and die miserably in the future."
Wu Chen sighed deeply.
From this point, he was basically just making things up.
According to the game's plot, the Evil God had indeed fallen into slumber and would not awaken for at least a millennium.
So even if he pretended to be an Evil God's envoy, no one could refute him.
Yet Litia looked solemn and seemed to completely believe his fabricated story.
This woman is so easy to deceive, Wu Chen thought. He felt that with a bit more effort, it wouldn't be hard to trick her into bed.
"So you chose me?"
Litia's heart raced with a mix of nervousness and anticipation.
If the mother goddess entrusted him with selecting a successor, it meant that any witch he chose could inherit the Evil God's power!
"I've heard you're said to be the strongest witch and have ambitions to invade the human world, which makes you a very suitable candidate."
Wu Chen nodded slightly.
"Hmph, you have good taste," Litia said proudly. "I'm super powerful! Whether humans or other witches, they'll all eventually grovel at my feet!"
She raised her head haughtily, full of dignity. In this world, she was powerful and noble. Human kings trembled at the mere mention of her name, and most witches treated her with the utmost respect.
Among other witches, she was indeed seen as one of the most likely candidates to inherit the Evil God's position.
"Oh, from your words, you seem quite courageous?" Wu Chen smiled harmoniously.
"Are you kidding! I'm super brave, okay?" Litia confidently patted her ample chest.
"Super brave?" Wu Chen reached out and naturally wrapped his arm around her waist. "Nice figure, quite solid."
"What, what are you doing…" Litia recoiled slightly.
But for some reason, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't push Wu Chen away.
Her immense strength was automatically deemed as "harm" and thus ineffective against Wu Chen.
"How old are you to be so shy? You really don't understand."
"I'm over a thousand years old!" Litia showed an extremely fierce expression.
Huh? Over a thousand? I remember in the game data, Litia was just in her early twenties, the strongest witch of the new generation, right?
Wu Chen felt a bit confused but didn't dwell on it.
"Oh, by the way, the mother goddess told me about your past before I left. You're an existence created from the fusion of witch and goddess elements, right?"
Wu Chen dropped a bombshell.
"!!"
"How do you know about this?" Litia's gaze became sharp, as if she wanted to pierce through Wu Chen.
This information was detailed in the game's character panel.
Except for the damn age-restricted issues preventing any knowledge about "what kind of panties Litia wears," which remained an unsolved mystery, Wu Chen knew everything else clearly, like birthday, height, weight, likes and dislikes, and even sensitive details.
This piece of information was unlocked in the new witch profile data after raising Litia's favorability to "love" level.
It involved the secret past of witches and goddesses.
"This is information passed to me by the mother goddess. She said you are naturally suspicious and need evidence to prove my identity." Wu Chen made up an explanation.
He knew firsthand that Litia was indeed very suspicious by nature.
For instance, in the game, every morning when she woke up, she'd come to question if he had sneaked off to "eat" other witches while she slept.
Wu Chen always responded with righteous indignation, denying any theft!
Heaven knows, he wasn't lying. How could affairs with other wives be called "sneaking off to eat"?
"Whether you believe it or not, I've provided all the evidence I can."
"The mother goddess is still sealed and cannot act freely. To prevent any potential traitors among the witches, we cannot disclose the current location of the mother goddess."
"If you still don't believe me, there's nothing more I can do."
Wu Chen shrugged, showing helplessness.
"I'll tentatively believe your story."
Litia lowered her head and thought for a moment before making a decision.
With so much evidence supporting it, it was most likely that he was indeed an envoy sent by the mother goddess to select a successor.
"Good that you believe me. That's about all I needed to notify you about. Now that I've finished, if there's nothing else, I'll be going."
Having fooled Litia, Wu Chen pretended to turn and leave.
Of course, he had no intention of actually leaving.
With his current strength in the demon world, he might not survive more than a few steps; it was way safer to stay close to his wife.
What he was doing now was preparing for his future actions.
"Wait!"
As he expected, just a few steps out, Litia called out to stop him.
"Is there something else, Lady Litia?"
"What else do you need to do?"
"Naturally, to inform the other witches about the Evil God's current delegation to find a successor so that I can judge them one by one."
"Although you are called the strongest witch, I remember that several witches are not satisfied with that title."
Wu Chen blinked and said matter-of-factly.
"Why should you bother running around for such an important matter? How about this: you rest in my territory for now, and I'll notify the other witches and have them come here to undergo your examination."
Litia proposed to keep him around.
"But if someone doesn't come? You know my identity; if I don't show them my ability in person, I doubt many witches will believe in my identity."
Wu Chen showed a troubled expression.
"Whether they believe it or not, if they don't even have the idea to come and test it out, it just shows their lack of respect for the mother goddess. Such witches, even if they forfeit, wouldn't be a problem."
Litia's eyes flashed with a sly smile.
"Well, you do have a point. Let's do it your way for now."
Wu Chen nodded and then leaned back on the sofa in the dormitory, looking quite relaxed.
"Then you rest here, and I'll go contact the other witches."
Litia said and then transformed into a streak of light, leaving the room.
However, she did not contact the witches as she had said. Instead, she waved her hand and summoned several floating eyeballs.
"Eye of Evil, keep watch on that man in the dormitory. Remember not to look directly at him; just pay attention to the surroundings of the room. If he shows any sign of wanting to leave, notify me immediately."
The Evil Eye Enforcers, one of Litia's subordinates, were gatekeepers of the first layer of the palace, and once had the achievement of turning all residents of a human territory into statues.
The demon world was home to many chaotic races, and the strongest member of each race was called the Demon King.
The Demon King of the Evil Eye demons had faced countless heroes, warriors, and armies, all of whom ended up as part of his precious collection of statues.
"Respected master, we will follow your commands," the floating eyeballs spoke in a respectful, hushed voice.
Yet, such a terrifying demon king could only serve as the lowest-level guard under Litia.
Though sent by the mother goddess, this guy was quite easy to deceive. Litia's lips curved into a seductive smile as her long legs wrapped in black stockings stepped forward, the lace of her skirt swaying, leaving behind a charming and alluring silhouette that gradually receded.
Given the rare opportunity to inherit the mother goddess's power, how could she hand it over to another witch?
Notifying the other witches was just a pretext. In reality, she had no intention of notifying them anytime soon.
As long as she didn't reveal this matter to anyone at the moment, she would be the only witch who knew about the mother goddess's envoy.
While he stayed in her palace, she would treat him well, subtly belittle the other witches, and make him inclined to choose her. Inheriting the mother goddess's power would be within her grasp.
Moreover, Litia herself had not fully trusted Wu Chen.
As someone who could become a major antagonist, she was inherently cautious and suspicious.
Even though he knew exclusive secrets about the witches, and even if he knew things known only to her and the mother goddess, she still did not fully trust Wu Chen's story.
The world was filled with too many bizarre abilities; no one knew if there were methods to obtain secrets.
She trusted no one, not even the mother goddess—she only trusted herself!
Even if it meant death, she would never trust anyone else!
