At this moment, Uchiha Itachi likely believed that Shisui had sacrificed himself for peace.
Little did he know, Shisui's intent was much simpler—to warn everyone not to trust Danzo.
Why not just say it outright?
Still, even without Shisui's tragic circumstances, Itachi's ultimate choice probably wouldn't change much.
Satoru shook his hair casually, a bright smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. He leaned slightly forward, speaking with an oddly enthusiastic tone.
"Hey, Shisui," Satoru began, "if you want peace so badly, why not team up with me instead?"
"...?"
Shisui blinked, staring at the young boy in front of him in utter confusion.
"What are you talking about?" Shisui asked, his voice tinged with skepticism.
Finally, he let out a faint smile. "This isn't something for a child like you to worry about. Leave it to us adults."
"Oh, so your grand adult solution is suicide?" Satoru shot back, his voice dripping with mockery. "How heroic."
Shisui chuckled helplessly. "Sometimes, that's the best option we have."
"Hah." Satoru sneered. "Guess what your precious Itachi will do when Konoha and the Uchiha clan finally come to blows?"
Shisui frowned.
"He'll sacrifice everything for peace—just like you. Even if it means the entire Uchiha clan gets wiped out."
"That's impossible," Shisui replied, shaking his head in disbelief.
Yet, for reasons he couldn't understand, he began discussing his thoughts with Satoru.
For someone so young, Satoru carried an odd air of reliability that was difficult to ignore.
"We're all working for peace, for the village and the Uchiha," Shisui argued. "Itachi would never do something like that."
Satoru raised an eyebrow and spoke calmly. "What if Konoha forces him to choose between the village and the Uchiha? Would he side with the clan and perish in a doomed rebellion? Or would he destroy the Uchiha himself to protect the village's peace—leaving only his brother alive to carry on the family name?"
Shisui's expression faltered, his eyes reflecting a hint of doubt.
"How could Konoha push things that far?" he asked softly. "If it ever came to that… would Konoha even still be Konoha?"
For a moment, Shisui fell silent, lost in thought. He shook his head, letting out a heavy sigh.
"So far, this is the best solution I can come up with," he admitted. "As for what the future holds… I don't know."
He trailed off, unable to finish his sentence.
Satoru's gaze sharpened, his voice uncharacteristically serious.
"Dying isn't going to change anything."
Shisui froze, startled by the shift in Satoru's demeanor.
For a brief moment, it was as if he was looking at a completely different person.
How could a child take on something even the Third Hokage couldn't solve?
"Since you don't want the Uchiha to be destroyed and you want to preserve Konoha, why not take a different path?" Satoru suggested.
"What do you mean?" Shisui asked cautiously.
"Just because the Uchiha can't survive in Konoha doesn't mean they can't survive elsewhere," Satoru replied.
Shisui's face darkened. "You're suggesting we move to another village? That's impossible. No village would accept us. They'd treat us like lab experiments."
He shook his head, smiling bitterly. "You're still just a kid. You don't understand how the world works."
Satoru chuckled softly, glancing at Shisui with a long, thoughtful look.
"Who said anything about joining another village?" he asked, his tone suddenly upbeat.
"I'm talking about building a third-party force of our own. I'm not interested in swapping one batch of rotten oranges for another. Why not wipe the slate clean?"
Shisui blinked, taken aback. "A… third party?"
Satoru grinned. "Yeah. A place where we don't have to answer to Konoha or anyone else. A true fresh start. So, young man, what do you say? Want to join me and chase your dreams?"
"..."
At first, Shisui thought it was all just nonsense—the naive fantasy of a kid who didn't understand the world.
But as Satoru continued to explain, piece by piece, Shisui's skepticism began to waver.
Each detail, every preparation, seemed carefully thought out.
And then came the biggest shock of all.
"What?" Shisui blurted out. "You… you already have a nation?!"
Satoru smirked.
"When did you—how did you—" Shisui stammered, his mind reeling.
How had Satoru, this seemingly unreliable boy, managed to pull something so massive off without anyone noticing?
"Impossible…" Shisui muttered under his breath.
But as he stared at Satoru's confident expression, he couldn't help but question everything he thought he knew about him.
Was this truly the same careless boy he had known all along?
