Chapter 14 - Welcome to hell

Narration by Ms Felicia Ada.

My parents were nowhere to be found. I assumed they were both dead.

"Any luck?" I called out to Margaret.

"No one is here." She yelled back.

We must have searched every room in this mysterious building, but there were no bodies anywhere.

"I found the exit!"

I ran towards the sound of Margaret's voice down the corridor.

The first day in hell

I pushed the large door open and I saw a world that was not a pleasant sight. It was like a desert with mountains and rocks, but what was really odd was that the sky seemed to be burning; the horizon was a giant burning flame.

Are we in hell?

"Margaret?" Felicia called as she rushed through the door and then froze with terror, "Where are we?"

"I think those creeps brought us in hell..."

Suddenly, rising up from a short distance away out of the dirt was a large Minotaur looking creature.

"So you two are the ones who held the power of demon ki?"

I gasped in horror at the sight of this creature, was I looking at Satan?

"Who are you?" Felicia asked.

"No one important, just a beast that inhabits this part of the underworld. Don't worry about your families, they are not here."

The Minotaur laughed.

"You two were only brought here for the ritual. Your families are both in heaven."

I cleared my throat.

"How do we get back to our world?"

The Minotaur chuckled.

"Since you two are not dead yet there is a chance. Beelzebub has a book of spells that can open a portal to earth. The cult who brought you here used it earlier, but they ran towards to direction of Beelzebub's castle."

The Minotaur pointed to the north.

"Just keep traveling in that direction, but it won't be easy."

"What do you mean?" Asked Felicia

"Everyone has their own private hell, you will be traveling through quiet a few horrifying places."

"In other words we could be passing through some other forms of hell." I said

"Yes," said the Minotaur, "that's a good way to put it. Good luck ladies."

The Minotaur laughed as he sunk back into the dirt and disappeared.

"Well," I said, "Let's get moving."

"I'm scared." Said Felicia

I put my hand on her shoulder to calm her.

"I know I'm scared too, but we've got to try to get to the castle. It's our only hope."

Felicia nodded and we both started walk across the rocky landscape.

That night...

The barren, surreal landscape of hell was cold and gray. Twisted shapes of mountains loomed on the horizon.

As we passed through the area, I noticed that ghoulish shapes of the undead being wondering around the landscape.

One of the ghoulish, animated bodies roaming around was a skeleton with very little flesh remaining and another one was dressed in a pirate outfit with a sword sticking out of his back. Another one was a woman with pale white skin missing her left arm. I disgusting sight!

Margaret and I continued to walk around the path going to the north. It lead to an ominous-looking skull that loomed in the distance.

The luminous moon casted a glow over the strange, dark landscape.

As we got closer to the giant skull, I saw a long line of people walking slowly into the skull. One person dropped down on the knee in front of large skeleton wearing a black robe.

"Please no!"

The skeleton shook its head.

"You were a rapist and murderer!" Said the skeleton, " you reap what you sow!"

"Come on," said Margaret, "Let's go."

We continued to travel north until we walked into a canyon with organic walls that formed an oppressive passageway from which a spiraling path emerges and descends into the darkness. Far below, the surface of a black, glassy river eerily reflected the glow of flickering torches. The torches dimly lit the passage of the canyon.

As we walked through the canyon, I saw what I figured was the legendary river styx. An ebony mass of liquid, resembling black tar.

"Can we rest?" I asked.

Margaret looked at me for a second and then she gave me her beautiful smile. "Very well Felicia," she said as I sat down on the smooth floor, "Go ahead and rest."

I laid down on the ground as Margaret sat down next to me.

The second day in hell

Nothing happened this day.

Just more traveling.

Nothing to see but a dessert waste land.

The third day in hell

As we continued to travel north a began to comfort myself as well as I could.

We were both casted upon a horrible, desolate place, but we are both alive. Margaret and I were not killed like everyone else was. We had both been transformed into monsters, we were killers now. A vampire and a werewolf!

However we were both given great strength with our transformations and that could help us survive in this horrible place.

On the third day, it rained with gusts of wind. Fortunately, Felicia and I found a small cave to dry off in.

Just like before, Felicia slept and I stayed up; I hadn't slept since we had come to this place.

I woke up to find Margaret staring at me, her expression unreadable in the dim light of the cave. "What is it?" I asked, my voice tense with fear.

Margaret's eyes widened in surprise. "I don't think we'll survive much longer here, Felicia. You're my only friend, and I don't know what would happen if you left me."

I sat up, feeling a pang of fear squeeze my heart. "What do you mean? What happens when I leave?"

"You'll be killed," Margaret said, her voice flat.

Monsters, who have become accustomed to hunting humans, would relentlessly pursue us. We had already witnessed a group of vampires tearing apart an unfortunate soul. And the wolves, who were now our sworn enemies, would not give us a second chance.

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. "I won't leave you. We can still find a way out of here."

Margaret scowled. "You're not even trying, Felicia. You're just going to sit here, thinking about how we can get out of this place. But what about all the people who are already dead? What about their families?"

I felt a lump form in my throat. "I'm trying. We don't know how to get out. And we shouldn't forget about the people who are still here. We have to look out for each other too."

"You're right," Margaret said, her voice suddenly fierce. "I can't just be a killer. I have to think of a way to help us both."

We sat in silence as the rain came down in sheets. I looked out at the wasteland, trying to think of a way out. As I did, a plan began to form in my mind.

We could still survive. We just needed to be smart about it. We needed to remain invisible, to not draw any attention to ourselves. We needed to be careful when we went out into the world.

I sat up, smiling. "I have an idea."

Margaret's eyes widened. "What?"

I stood up, stretching my legs. "We'll wear these."

I picked up a piece of fabric from the floor and held it out to Margaret. She looked terrified when she saw it.

"It's just a piece of cloth," I said, trying to reassure her. "But it'll help us blend in. If we wear it over our faces, no one will see us. And we don't have to kill anyone to survive."

I watched Margaret nod, her expression tense. "Okay, let's do it."

We took turns wearing the cloth and practicing hiding ourselves in the dark. It was slow and difficult, but it was the only way we would survive.

The fourth day in hell

Eventually, we perfected the art of hiding. We would find shelter in abandoned buildings and wait for the night to pass. We learned how to move silently and how to avoid detection. We had become experts.

One night, as we were moving through an abandoned city, I spotted something strange happening in a nearby alleyway. A man was screaming, his voice high and hysterical. I picked up my pace, moving towards the source of the sound.

As I got closer, I saw a man being dragged into a large room by a group of creatures. They were wearing red and black uniforms, and their faces were twisted in glee. It was a group of witches, bent on taking revenge on those who opposed them.

I felt a chill run down my spine. I had to help.

I grabbed a small rock off the ground and whispered a quick incantation. The rock transformed into a small ball of fire in my hand, enabling me to throw it at the witches.

The witches screeched in pain and confusion as the fire engulfed them, leaving them burnt and whimpering. I felt a sense of satisfaction wash over me as I continued to move through the abandoned city.

I found Margaret, who was equally terrified. She grabbed me by my arm and pulled me behind a nearby building. We stayed there, watching as the witch's bodies burned in the distance.
