Chapter 15 - Something's not right

The fourth day in hell

When the sun arose on the burning horizon, Felicia and I continued our journey. We had finally left the rocky landscape and crossed a marshy tract full of willows, bulrushes, and odd, outlandish, swampy trees; and I had now come out upon the skirts of an open piece of undulating, sandy country. On the far side of the open stood one of the hills, with two quaint, craggy peaks shining vividly in the sun.

I now felt for the first time the joy of exploration. This part was uninhabited; Here and there were flowering plants, unknown to me; here and there I saw snakes, and one raised his head from a ledge of rock and hissed at me with a noise not unlike the spinning of a top.

"Margaret!" Felicia screamed, A snake!"

The noise I heard was the famous rattle.

"It's okay," I said as I put my arm around Felicia, "just don't go near him. Let's keep going."

Felicia must have been scared to move because it took me a few minutes to coach her into walking away from the snake.

Then we came to a long thicket of these oaklike trees which grew low along the sand like brambles, the boughs curiously twisted, the foliage compact, like thatch. The thicket stretched down from the top of one of the sandy knolls, spreading and growing taller as it went, until it reached the margin of the broad, reedy fen, through which the nearest of the little rivers soaked its way into the anchorage. The marsh was steaming in the strong sun, and the outline of the Spy-glass trembled through the haze.

"This place looks different," I said, "it's not what I imagined hell to look like."

Felicia sat down on the grass and began to relax. I sat down beside her.

"Maybe we are not in hell anymore." Said Felicia.

"I don't know." I said, "It seems unlike we could walk from hell to heaven in such a short distance."

Day 5

I was beginning to feel the hunger, blood!

It rained on this day for an hour.

Later in the day, we heard gunshots in the distance.

What was going on?

Day 6

After walking for a while, I could see a small log cabin in the distance.

As I looked at the cabin, I noticed that there was a young girl standing in the doorway. Since my transformation I could see a lot better. She looked like she was around six or seven years of age, raven dark curly hair like my own hair.

"Florence?"

The girl looked up at me. Yes, it was her, my baby sister!

"Margaret, where are you going?" Felicia called out at I ran towards Florence. I ran with such speed I never knew I was capable of. Had the transformation made me faster?

Within in a second, I had reached Florence and picked her up in my arms.

It was a lovely delicate moment.

Narration by Ms Felicia Ada.

"Margaret! Wait!" I called.

Either I was much slower than I thought, or Margaret had moved with superior speed that she was at the cabin in two seconds.

"Oh my baby sister," cried Margaret, "I missed you. How did you get here?"

When I finally caught up with Margaret, I noticed that Florence was just staring at Margaret without saying a word.

"Florence?" Said Margaret as she looked at her little sister, "Aren't you glad to see me?"

Florence just stared at Margaret.

"Can't you talk?"

Suddenly Florence's eyes opened up wide with a bright green color. She opened her mouth, showing a row of sharp teeth.

"Margaret! Get away from her!" I yelled as I pulled Margaret backwards.

The Florence-like thing was covered in a green flame as it gave off a loud roar and leaped at us.

Margaret reached out and caught the monster by the neck.

The creature clawed at Margaret like a wild animal.

"What in the hell?"

Margaret's canine teeth began to grow long again.

"Who are you?"

The thing began to laugh.

"Margaret!" I yelled trying to pull her back, "Get away from that thing! It's not your sister!"

The creature spoke with a growling voice.

"We want souls and I brought you two here. You wanted to see you're baby sister, didn't you Margaret?"

Margaret let go of the creature's neck and finally I was able to pull her back away from that... that thing!

"How do you know my name?"

Suddenly a large hole opened up in the ground behind us. Two long hoses with needles on the ends shot up out of the ground.

"Welcome to hell ladies!" The monster laughed.

I felt a sharp pain in my back as Margaret screamed along with me. The needles dove in and out of our backs in a complicated sewing pattern. The pain was intense!

I reached over to Margaret's back and pulled on the needle as I felt my body getting hot and sweaty.

Margaret returned to favor by yanking the needle out of my own back as I my snout began to grow again.

Whatever this thing was, it was demon food now!

Unfortunately I was pushed back by the invisible force of the monster as he turned into the image of a giant bald man cover in a green flame. He was dressed in a small dark coat and dark green pants that were very loose with persian boots.

An evil genie?

Margaret's hands glowed again as she leaped at the genie, catch around his throat.

"Die you monster!" Margaret yelled as The genie's body begin to disintegrate.

Earlier, Margaret was scared out of her mind now she was taking charge. Side effect of demon power?
