It had been a month since the Aurora Band was launched. Its popularity had risen in the market achieving a high rate of sales. The reviews were good with customers proving its worth.
Tranquil Health Clinic's Director Liang Yun was seated calmly in his cozy office that was was majorly by large shelves stacked with medical books. He was seated on a rocking chair, reading a medical book while sipping his afternoon tea. The gentle afternoon breeze penetrating in through the open window circulated in the room freshening the air bringing about a serene feeling conducive for reading. He raised his head slightly when he heard an unexpected knock at the door. Shortly after,the unannounced guest walked in.
"Director,"Liu Dawei bowed slightly.
"Dawei, it's rare of you to visit me. I'm quite surprised "Director Liang spoke in a raspy voice dragging his words lazily. Someone would think he was tired of talking or he was simply too arrogant to talk to others.
Liu Dawei chuckled awkwardly in response.
"Tell me. How may I help you?"Director Liang closed his book and placed it on the table and leaned on the backrest of his chair. "Have a seat ," he gestured him to settle on another rocking chair directly across from him. Liu Dawei reluctantly sat down.
"Dawei you don't have to hold back. You've always been my favourite doctor here. If there's something you want me to help you with then out with it,"Director Liang assured him ,his deep loud hearty laughter filling the room.
Liu Dawei mustered the confidence and verbalized the reason for his sudden visit.
"I heard we're hosting a celebration party with Leap Brand next Saturday and I would like to ask you a favour," he started.
Director Liang served him tea and they talked the whole afternoon to Liu Dawei's utmost surprise. Talking to the old man felt like talking to his loving and caring father. The old man seemed to know exactly what he was thinking and offered him priceless advice on whatever matter he had brought up.
Ji Xian had just finished doing her makeup for the celebration party and checked her phone for any updates. Her expression darkened when she read her boyfriend's message. Initially,they had planned that he would pick her up since they were both attending the party but now Liu Dawei had suddenly texted her to leave first and instructed her to meet him at the party.
Although she was disappointed with his actions,she still left and took a taxi to the party venue. Some of her colleagues had already arrived each dressed to kill. She herself was dressed in a long elegant dress. Elegance was what Liu Dawei preferred the most. He disliked her revealing too much skin and she seemed to willingly comply with his wishes.
As the butler passed around carrying drinks in a tray,she picked one but instead of taking a sip she held the glass in her hands looking around in search of any familiar faces. She was looking for a certain someone she had had grown a little fond of for the past weeks but he was nowhere to be seen. Yu Fusheng who Ji Xian considered one of the familiar faces had not yet shown up at the party.
"Miss Ji,you look very beautiful tonight!"
"You're my idol. After I complete my internship I would like to work with you."
Two girls approached her delightedly competing for her attention. They were interns at her company but they had rarely interacted before considering that Ji Xian wasn't good at socializing.
"You both look stunning too,"She complimented them and instinctively smiled and raised her glass as if to offer a toast to their beauty or to emphasize her words. The two girls walked away still glancing back at her while beaming smiles.
Yu Fusheng walked in with Lu Shao beside him along with a few men of different ages dressed in classy suits. They were probably from Lu Shao's CEO friends circle which hadn't grown big because the company hadn't achieved a breakthrough yet. When his grandfather handed over the company to him,the company was at the verge of collapsing since his grandfather had fallen ill for a long time and Lu Shao had just completed his studies and took over the company without a choice of declining given that it was his grandfather's dying wish for him to inherit the CEO position. He revived the company starting from scratch.
From Tranquil Health Clinic,Director Liang,Liu Dawei and a few doctors and nurses showed up at the party. It was merely an interaction session. Meanwhile Liu Dawei was secretly plotting something so he did everything he could to avoid Ji Xian waiting for the right time to reveal his plan.
"Hello everyone,"Lu Shao took the mic grabbing everyone's attention,"Welcome to tonight's celebration party courtesy of Tranquil Health Clinic and Leap Brand. As you're all aware ,over the past weeks we've been working on a project with the clinic and our hardwork is the reason why we're here tonight to celebrate this success we've achieved even if it's not that much. Before I hand over the mic to the clinic representatives I would like to announce something."
Lu Shao gestured his newly appointed secretary to bring a number of envelopes to the stage with a trophy.
"For the first time our company is going to award the Employee of the Month and the members who participated in the campaign will each receive a bonus amount as credit for their hard work."
Having said that,Lu Shao announced the Employee of the Month,Ji Xian. Ji Xian waved at the others as she majestically walked to the podium to receive the trophy and her trophy. She gave a little speech and stood beside Lu Shao as he called others to the podium to receive their reward.
Shockingly,Yu Fusheng wasn't among them even if he was the one in charge of the campaign arousing curiosity among others. Just then Lu Shao invited him to the podium and handed him the mic. Everyone looked up at him hoping to get a clarification of why wasn't hadn't received an envelope.
"After discussing it with the CEO I asked him to do me a favour in exchange for my bonus. I'm not trying to justify my actions but the female employees at our company have cursing me for denying them a chance so I suggested that we create another marketing team that will be led by a woman. So we'll have marketing team A and B and two chief marketing officers. Having said that Miss Ji here has been appointed as the CMO of Team B,"Yu Fusheng announced and the others applauded and cheered.
After the Leap Brand left the stage,Director Liang and Liu Dawei took over the stage. Director Liang wasn't a fan of long monotonous speeches so he kept his words short and brief.
"Miss Ji would you please come over to the stage?"Director Liang requested after his speech to everyone's surprise and Ji Xian matched her way to the podium once again
"Tonight's party isn't only a celebration dinner,"Director Liang said subtly and handed over the mic to Liu Dawei who was vividly nervous. He wanted to run off the stage. He didn't have stage fright but what he was about to do drained his confidence.
He stood in front of Ji Xian who stared at him in confusion. Liu Dawei glanced at Director Liang who was departing from the podium and the latter nodded assuring him to go ahead. Finally as if possessed by the spirit of love and romance,he verbally praised Ji Xian in a romantic way making everyone coo at his words.He explained their romantic journey from when they met till they started dating. Apparently their mothers were friends but since they had both moved to Beijing a long time ago they never met until a year ago they met at the airport and the coincidence of ending up at the same destination which was their hometown ,the same neighborhood became the start of their love story.
Liu Dawei then went ahead and knelt before her and proposed to her," Ji Xian,will you be my forever?"He asked presenting a solitaire diamond ring featuring a single stunning diamond with its simplicity highlighting the beauty of the diamond itself. He looked up into her eyes with anticipation clearly written on his face. He was nervous and afraid that she would that down his proposal.
"If I don't spend the rest of my life with you who will I spend it with?"She questioned back in response in a slightly humorous way. She grinned from ear to ear extending out her hand and spread out her fingers giving him better access to find the target finger. He inserted the ring and stood up pulling her into a tight hug. The audience cheered congratulating their engagement even though most people were surprised to find out they had been dating. Ji Xian went home ,secretly claiming to be the happiest woman in the world at the moment. She had received double happiness from the things she had invested most of her time in. She tried to suppress her smile afraid that her face would hurt from smiling too much.
