The rival pack's territory was a space of rugged rocks and thick forest, its air filled with a serious threat. Aveline's boots crashed against the unbalanced path as she made her way toward the main cleared space people moved through. The sun was setting, showing a lovely shine that did little to ease the storm of trouble happening within her.
Gabriel was here. That much she knew. She had come for answers, and this time, she wouldn't leave without them.
As the clearing stayed undisturbed with people around in her front, she saw him leaning against a tree, his broad shoulders dropped and his face showing signs of exhaustion. He looked up at her approaching him, his expression softening before hardening again into caution.
"Aveline," he said, his voice low and tired.
She didn't let him finish. "Enough, Gabriel. No more secrets. No more lies. You're going to tell me everything. Right now."
