I was speechless by the beauty in front of me. Am I dreaming? Is he real? I asked myself knowing that someone like this may only exist in books but here he was.
"Princess?" I heard him call but I was too busy admiring to answer. It took a while and two other calls before I came back to earth.
"Oh I'm sorry" I said and gently took the book from him. He gave a soft smile that made me almost shrink.
"Why are you not at the party?" He asked as he turned to face the wall of books about politics.
"I wanted to come out and smell the fresh air" I simply said putting the book back in it's seat.
"So like you" I heard him whisper but I thought I heard wrong.
"Did you say something?" I tried to sound as polite as possible and I didn't know if it was working.
"No, I didn't" he smiled again.
"Dean" he stretched his hand forward for a handshake.
"Alexa" I accepted it with a smile.
Our eyes locked for a second that felt eternity before it ended.
I knew most of the people that came today and had one or two idea about the others but I've never seen or heard about this one before. I wondered who he was. He stood looking closely at the books as I stared at him.
"Do must like politics" I said trying to start a conversation.
"Not really" he simple reply.
"I just realized the book are arranged alphabetically" I've been coming into this library for as long as I can remember but I never paid attention to these books or even noticed.
"Ohh"
I did study a little bit of politics but mostly history and maths and geography but my best interest was the books Richard secretly bought for me whenever he went on a trip away from the country; romance and fairytale.
"I'll take my leave now before my bodyguards start searching for me" he bowed slightly and turned to leave. What an angel, I thought.
I remembered they'll start looking for me soon too. But did it matter?.
I stayed in the library for another hour before heading back.
I scanned the room to look for the Charming Dean but I couldn't find him. What a disappointment.
I was glad my parents didn't find me a suitor at the ceremony just as they did for Jane at Hannah's engagement.
**************
The small conversation I had with Dean couldn't seem to leave my head. His face, his light brown eyes and thick brown hair, his tall and masculine figure and his smile. Perfectly perfect.
I wanted to see him again. I prayed to see him again. Is he a prince? Or a noble? I wanted to know.
"You seem quite lost in thoughts, princess" I heard Ann speak as she sat beside me while I lay on the bed ready to crash.
Ann is my best friend and I told her everything about me.
"Care to share?" Of course I will share.
I turned to face her as I spoke.
"So, I met this...guy today..."
"So it's a guy" I was nervous. Of all the things we have talked about I have never told her about a guy before.
"His name is Dean, he is so handsome, when I saw him I couldn't breathe. I've never seen someone so....unreal" like I said before, he looked like one of those perfect princes from books. He looked like prince Dean come to life; a romcom comic book I was reading years ago that got lost, my first book crush.
"You've never spoke of a real guy like that before" and it was true.
The only guys I've ever thought of so much were all fictional.
Ann I talked talked for a while and I didn't know when I fell asleep. Today was the only day I thought I found a treasure that ran away from me so soon. I wanted to see him again and longer.
*****************
Mysterious, I never saw his face but I knew it was him, again.
Always far away and I could never reach him. Or whenever I did, they was always something blocking the way. Why? Why can you let me see him?
The place was always strangely beautiful and mesmerizing, the I always wanted to find out about, the place I wanted to go.
But does it exist? Is that place real? I didn't know.
I was almost there again. I could see him and almost reached him but the walls always appeared before I could touch him.
What was his name? Why is it hard to reach him and see his face? Why was there always a wall between us in this beautiful place.
We weren't the only ones there but I couldn't see everybody's face I didn't care. I only wanted to see the person in front of me.
I always looked for ways to break the wall or jump across but it keeps getting harder, I might as well give up but not yet. And not now. I needed my answer and fast.
