Qin Li took out his phone and dialed Fury's number. Once the call was answered, he directly said, "Where are you? I'm coming over. There's a problem after that operation."
"I'm still out handling some matters. I'll come to find you later, Father Li," Fury replied calmly.
Qin Li used his teleportation potion and appeared in front of Fury, who was sitting in his office. Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow, was seated opposite him, likely discussing some mission. Qin Li immediately said, "Bullshit! I see your big ass sitting in your office chair! Wait for me!" and hung up the phone.
Fury stared at the hung-up call, his expression darkening. He called Agent Maria Hill, asking for a large-scale search. He couldn't believe his own headquarters was being monitored.
Before his team could arrive, a flash of golden light appeared beside the sofa in the office, and Qin Li was already sitting there.
"You damn black egg, you're truly the king of spies when it comes to deceiving people. No blush, no heartbeat," Qin Li said sarcastically from the sofa.
Fury's already dark face turned even more scowling. Just as he was about to speak, a soft snicker came from the side. Only then did he realize Natasha was still there. Fury glared at her.
Natasha immediately put on a serious face and said, "Sir, you know I've received professional training. No matter how funny something is, I won't laugh."
Fury remained dark-faced and said, "Agent Romanoff, I think you should leave."
"Understood, sir. Does that mean my task is canceled? I think I could use a break," Natasha replied, her voice filled with charm as she turned and waved. Fury was about to object when Qin Li stood up.
"Enough. As a boss, why are you working your people so hard? Aren't you afraid of a rebellion? You can go. I still need to talk to your boss!" Qin Li said to Fury and motioned for Natasha to leave. Though he knew his visit might not be of much use, he relished the chance to annoy Fury.
Natasha, seeing Qin Li stop her boss, wasn't concerned. After all, someone like Qin Li, who could appear out of nowhere, was not someone she could defeat. Also, given that Fury seemed to know him, there was no danger. She left to warn the other agents, just in case Fury issued a security alert. She smiled at Qin Li and exited, closing the door behind her.
Once Natasha left, Fury sat back in his chair, staring at Qin Li. "Go ahead, Father Li, what's the rush? We've already discussed that matter, and I've dealt with the aftermath."
Qin Li returned to the sofa and asked, "You must know Frank Castle, right?"
Fury's face remained unchanged as he replied coolly, "I don't know who you're talking about, Father Li. If you're here to ask us to find someone, don't waste your time. SHIELD isn't your tool."
"That night, a kid ran out from their base—his name is Nick Castle," Qin Li said without caring about Fury's cold response.
Fury remained seated, sinking deeper into the sofa, his eyes fixated on Qin Li. The silence stretched on for what felt like forever until Fury finally spoke, his voice rough, "What's happening with Nick now?"
"The kid's tough, missing a leg, but he doesn't show it on the surface. Not sure how he's doing internally. He's staying with me now," Qin Li replied calmly.
"Is that so?" Fury responded. He didn't ask about Nick's mother. Given that Nick was the only survivor that night, the implication was clear.
"I promised him I would take care of his family," Fury muttered to himself. Seeing Fury like this, Qin Li lost his sarcastic edge and stood up. "I'm leaving now. Think carefully about how you're going to explain this to your old buddy," he said, and then used his teleportation potion to return to the church.
Back at the church, Qin Li looked around, feeling like something was missing. When he glanced towards the farthest corner of the empty church, he suddenly slapped his forehead. He had left his radiant divine aura in his backpack and hadn't taken it out yet. He walked over, retrieved the cross, and hung it in place. As the divine aura emitted a gentle holy light, it filled the entire church. Qin Li nodded in satisfaction. Meanwhile, Nick stared at him with eyes full of awe.
After all, seeing a cross materialize out of thin air, glowing with light, seemed like a miracle to Nick. Jessica, though shocked, didn't show it. After all, she had witnessed Qin Li summon angels that night. To Jessica, Qin Li was no less than a deity and possibly even more powerful than one.
As Qin Li turned around, Kingpin pushed open the large door, followed by several mob bosses who controlled big businesses. Seeing Kingpin bringing reinforcements, Qin Li curiously asked, "Kingpin, why are you making such a fuss, bringing all these people to my little church?"
"Father Li, we're here for an explanation," Kingpin said, taking the lead. The others remained silent, knowing from their subordinates that Qin Li's power was formidable. However, they couldn't afford not to come, as no one could stop Qin Li if he decided to leave his church and walk through their streets.
Qin Li asked curiously, "What's going on? I just came back yesterday, not even a full day."
Kingpin sighed and said, "Father, don't hide it from us. You used that kid as an excuse to take out the Dark Crow gang. Now all the gangs are cleaning up their own people. They've promised me they'll stop human trafficking. We hope you won't take action anymore."
"Human trafficking?" Qin Li's eyes darkened. "It seems you didn't listen to what I said before."
"Boss Li... That gang was new. They didn't know better. We warned them, but they didn't listen," one of the mob bosses stammered.
"Then they deserve to die. They got what was coming to them," Qin Li said expressionlessly.
Kingpin continued helplessly, "Yes, they didn't follow the rules. But we've always played by them."
"Alright, this matter ends here," Qin Li stared at them and added, "But I don't want to hear of any more such incidents."
Kingpin stood up, placing a hand on his chest and giving a slight bow. "As you wish, Father Li. About that assassin, can you arrange for him to come back? He's already sent a death notice to another gang, and the guy's so scared he's wet his pants."
