Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

"What's going on? He was scared enough to wet his pants? And where did I get a hitman?" Qin Li suddenly felt something was off.

Kingpin responded, "The Dark Raven gang's headquarters looked like it had been bombarded. Over a hundred people from the gang died, and the core members were tortured to death. No one's come to investigate yet. Father Li, apart from you, I can't think of anyone else who could do it."

Qin Li frowned as he listened to Kingpin. He seemed to have figured something out and asked, "The gang that was wiped out, is it the one that kidnapped the boy?"

Kingpin realized something was wrong when he heard Qin Li's question. He knew that if Qin Li was behind something, he wouldn't deny it. He answered, "Yes, one of my informants discovered that the boy you saved that night was kidnapped by the Dark Raven gang. So, we assumed it was your doing."

Qin Li understood instantly and asked, "Then the gang that got the death notice tonight must have helped cover up the Dark Raven gang's kidnapping, right?"

Kingpin replied, "Yes, Father. That small gang assisted the Dark Raven gang in kidnapping the boy. They even used an RPG. That's how the boy's mother and his leg got injured."

"I see. Don't worry about the gang tonight. If this happens again, it won't be the last gang to be wiped out," Qin Li said coldly.

Kingpin nodded and said, "Thank you, Father. We'll leave now." Kingpin had already concluded that any gang not involved with the boy would be safe. He was heading back to report and didn't care about the small gang anymore. They had picked the wrong fight, and their death was deserved.

As Kingpin left the church, Qin Li picked up his phone and called Fury to check on the situation. After a few seconds, the call connected.

"Father Li, what can I do for you?" Fury asked, his tone calm, as if the events earlier that afternoon hadn't affected him.

"The gang that kidnapped Nick in Hell's Kitchen has been wiped out. It was your friend, wasn't it? And no one from the government came to investigate afterward. Looks like your heart isn't completely black," Qin Li said, somewhat surprised.

"I was just playing both sides. My comrade's honor is gone. He used all his honor to seek revenge. I thought Nick was dead. So I provided the information, and he carried out his vengeance, exchanging his life's honor for a chance at revenge," Fury said, his voice tinged with sorrow.

"Honor? Can honor bring back his loved ones? If it weren't for this damn honor, he could've saved his family, not become a killing machine obsessed with revenge!" Qin Li's voice was filled with agitation.

Fury didn't react to Qin Li's anger. He continued, though with a hint of relief in his voice, "At least he can vent. I've told him that his son is still alive, so at least he won't fall completely into being a machine of revenge."

"Give me his contact info. The Hell's Kitchen gang almost revolted. I've promised this is the last one tonight. Killing so many is enough. I don't want the boy's father to become a heartless killer," Qin Li said helplessly.

"Alright, I'll send it to you. Please take care of my friend," Fury said with a tone of pleading.

Qin Li was surprised by the pleading tone but replied as usual, "Okay. But this time, you owe me one." He ended the call. A few seconds later, he received the contact information and address from Fury. Qin Li immediately set off. He didn't plan to use the teleportation drug this time. Frank Castle was consumed by revenge, and if he appeared suddenly, he might get shot before even saying a word. A bullet was fine, but if an RPG was fired, his image would be ruined.

Following the address, Qin Li relied on his GPS and finally reached the small villa just before sunset. He walked up to the door and rang the bell.

After pressing the doorbell for the third time, there was a response. From hidden speakers, a voice, rough as if it had been cut by a knife, said, "Ten seconds. If you don't give me a reason for coming, you won't be leaving."

"Nick is the one I saved. He's living at my place," Qin Li said calmly.

After a brief silence, Frank Castle responded, "Go through the back garage. I've set traps at both the front and back doors."

Qin Li was momentarily stunned but then walked around to the back, thinking to himself, "Really? Traps at both the front and back doors? That's ruthless."

As Qin Li reached the back garage, the garage door slowly opened. Once inside, the door behind him closed. While he was still trying to figure out how to enter the house, a wall near the garage opened, revealing a hidden door. Qin Li thought to himself, "Damn, this is high-tech. It's like something out of a 007 movie."

As Qin Li entered, two massive guns emerged from the walls, aiming at him. Frank Castle stepped out from the left side of the wall, holding a 9mm Browning handgun pointed at Qin Li. He asked, "How do you know I'm here? Do you know Fury?"

Qin Li, hands in his pockets, turned to face Frank Castle and said calmly, "Yes, I know Fury. I asked him to give me your address."

"What do you want? To save the remains of those scum tonight?" Frank's eyes turned cold, and a murderous aura began to spread.

"Not really. As for those scum, whether you kill them or not, I'll make sure they suffer. I'm here because I don't want the boy's father, the one staying at my place, to turn into a killing machine. I want him to remain the hero in his son's heart," Qin Li said, feeling the tension from Frank's aura, but he remained calm.

Upon hearing Qin Li's words, Frank's hand holding the gun trembled slightly. He slowly lowered it, and the massive guns on both walls retracted into the walls with the press of a button.

Frank lowered his head and said quietly, "I'm no hero. I'm just a pitiful man who lost everything for the country."

Seeing Frank's dejection, Qin Li felt sympathy for him. A man who had dedicated most of his life to the country, only for the country to fail in protecting his family. Being an American soldier really wasn't easy.

"Nick asked me earlier if his father was a hero. I told him that for the country, you are a hero. But for your family, you're not. However, now you still have a chance to be the hero of your family, not a killing machine running from your past," Qin Li said, looking at Frank.
