Chereads / Love in Transition / Chapter 11 - Acting Weird

Chapter 11 - Acting Weird

It's been almost a month and everything has been perfect. She's been attending classes, made new friends and is even turning to teacher's favorite- not all though. Some teachers are hard to please as hell. No matter how hard she worked the grumps will always remain the grumps. But why hurry, it not even a month yet, it's going to get better. Just more work.

Joy didn't like P.E. Not even a little bit. It came with stress, injuries and sweat. But this one was different. Maybe because she doesn't have many haters here. Or maybe not yet. Joy was enjoying her time after Lily persuaded her to play dodge ball together.

Joy was great. Dodging marvellously making the other kids, or some other kids stare in awe. Her movements, elegant. It looked like she's been playing dodge ball all her life.

"Hit her" annoyed Khloe who has been trying to take revenge for what happened between her and Joy the other day.

"She's fast" Raj was like her minion, or so said everyone.

"So?!" Khloe hated that eyes were on Joy.

"Do it!!!!" She yelled to him.

Raj waited for the right time and prayed for forgiveness in his heart before...

Slowly, slowly the ball did hit the spot.

Raj knew he was dead.

Just like that Khloe ran out not even looking back. She's always been like that. Running away from the mess she made.

Everyone froze knowing what might happen in the next seconds.

Joy and Lily stepped aside with everyone else leaving Ryan and Raj at the center.

The ball hit Ryan straight on the head and the look on his face now made Raj shrink in fear. He looked to around aware that Khloe had already ran away

He tried hitting Joy but she dodge again and the ball went straight to Ryan who sat not too far away from them.

Time slowed as Ryan walked towards him.

One step. Two.....

He held his breath.

"Must you really hit that hard?" Raj thought he was dreaming. He opened his eyes and saw Ryan in from of him holding his head like a 9 year old who got hit by a ball.

" I....I...I'm so sorry.....it wasn't....o... on purpose" Raj said with pleading eyes. He was truly sorry.

As a scholarship student, that's how he should be; passed around and apologize for making the slightest mistake.

He knew how Ryan was and he never planned to mess with him.

"It's okay, dude. I needed that" Ryan turned and glanced at Joy before he walked out heading to the school clinic.

Everyone was frozen in place.

Silence....

"What was that?"

"Was that really Ryan?"

"Why did he not do anything?"

"Did the ball affect his head so soon?"

"I was expecting drama"

Everyone was in shock. Ryan the legend had never let anyone go before even if it was the slightest mistake.

Is he okay? He is going to be fine?

Joy couldn't stop worrying after two periods.

Ryan still isn't back.

But why was she worrying so much?

Many hours later.

"Did Ryan go home?" Joy asked Lily who obviously didn't know the answer.

"I don't know. Glad he wasn't a jerk today"

Lily shrugged.

"Jerk?" Joy was also going to ask why everyone was expecting Ryan to do something and here Lily was, calling him a 'jerk'.

"Yeah, he's an asshole" Joy had never heard Lily say such words before.

And she didn't like it that Lily was insulting Ryan. But why did she care.

"He would normally have done something else like beat him to a pulp and got him expelled and his parents would cover for him as always. I wonder why today was different" she looked like she was thinking something but quickly shook her head.

They didn't talk more about it that day. Joy didn't ask.

Going home, she still hoped Ryan was alright.

**********************************

She looked disgusted at the sight.

Was it jealousy? Or was it something else?

Jessica hated everything about Joy. The fact that she went to a fancy school, make money or probably, made fancy friends.

"When are you going to get paid?"

Joy turned to looked at the brunette beside her.

What the hell was that? But then again, it's always like that.

"I dunno " Joy simply answered looking like she didn't care if the person next to her looked like her eyes could shoot Lazer at her any minute.

"What do you mean you don't know? I need money and fast." Shameless as always.

"Work for your own money" Joy looked really fearless as she sat on the floor after another long cleaning session. She didn't look exhausted at all, she was getting used to it.q

"You bitch....!"

"Before you speak, you should know I'm older than you. Watch your mouth" Joy looked directly in her eyes as she stood up and walked upstairs. She didn't have time for pointless conversations.

Joy was older than Jess with nine months.

Jess always argued that nine months was nothing and it wasn't up to a year but Joy thought the opposite.

******************************"***

"What should I do to make that boy understand me?" The pretty middle aged woman was staring out the window but was obviously down.

"Maybe, we should give him some time. You know everything is new to him" just a simple suggestion coming from Ryan's older sister, Ava.

The eldest and only daughter of the Williams family.

Tall, pretty and married with two kids.

"But I want him to learn. He now sees me as a bad person and wouldn't even look at me anymore" sadness was evident in her voice.

"You know I want him to be happy but your father is just being unreasonable making me look like the bad person. And I can't even do anything". Her shoulder dropped as she remembered what she was to say to Ryan.

You're supposed to train him.

It's not harsh words.

He's losing focus.

Here you're his mother.

Tell him how useless he is or I'll do it myself.

Kim knew she couldn't possibly let her husband talk to Ryan himself or he would do worse. She felt bad and helpless.

"As much as I want to, I can't"

"I hate dad" Ava walked away as the memories of ten years ago flashed in her head.

She could not her brother suffer.

Her brother was going to have a good future. She would make sure of that.
