"Awesome!" Watching the warrior's body thump to the ground, Finn felt an incredible sense of freedom. Rarely had he felt that there was something to like about this lousy world.
In a virtual game, a player's attacks are completely restricted by attributes like attack power, defense, and health. No matter where you stab with a dagger, the health loss is basically the same. In that situation, even if a thief can beat a warrior, it takes a ton of effort. But Finn wasn't in a game; he was fighting in the real world. So, even if the warrior had good defense and lots of health, getting hit in the vital spots would still mean a quick death.
The neck, heart, eyes, and testicles - these are all key areas for a thief to win by surprise. Finn had practiced attacking these spots countless times and had used this knowledge in many battles. So, even with just half a second of an opening, he was confident he could hit a vital spot and kill the enemy right away.
"Kanze! Ossie! Damn you! Pay with your lives!" Just as Finn was all hyped up from the warrior's death, he heard a shrill scream. Finn turned his head and saw it was the skinny guy who had pulled out the dagger earlier. The skinny man was glaring at Finn with fire in his eyes, and flames were shooting from his crossed hands on his chest!
"Mage?!" Finn narrowed his eyes. He recognized this as the start of a Flame Arrow spell. When he saw the guy pull out a level - one spiritual - light dagger before, Finn thought he was a thief like him. He didn't expect this guy to be a mage and be able to use Flame Arrows. Finn guessed this guy was at least a level - six Controller.
"Another fool! Die!" Finn raised his hand and threw the dagger in his right hand. With a short, sharp sound like the air was being ripped apart, the thief's cursing stopped suddenly.
The skill Finn used is called Throwing Dagger Thrust, a really rare and powerful long - range attack skill. You can't find the skill book for Throwing Dagger Thrust in normal libraries or from regular trainers. It was one of the rewards Finn got for "curing" Fiona.
"Didn't your teacher teach you not to make noise when casting a spell until you learn the Magic Shield? Idiot!" Finn snorted with contempt as he watched the mage fall to the ground, clutching his throat.
"Ahhhhhh!" Seeing all three of his teammates dead in an instant, the big guy blocking the tavern door roared in fury. But he didn't rush at Finn to fight to the death. He was berserk, but he hadn't lost his mind. Among these four, the big guy was the strongest, a level - nine ability user. But when it came to fighting skills, the other three weren't much weaker. Seeing this guy who didn't look that tough kill all three of them so quickly, the big guy thought that if he charged in, he might die just as fast as his teammates.
"Kid, you're in deep trouble!" The big guy blocked the door, looking angrily at Finn. "Do you know who we are? How dare you attack us!"
"You're from the Poison - thorn Mercenary Corps, right?" Finn looked at the big guy and smiled calmly. "Only you idiots from the Poison - thorn would tattoo something like a woman's undergarment on your forehead as a mark."
"You... You knew we're from the Poison - thorn and still dared to attack?!" Hearing Finn say where they were from, the big guy lost his confidence. He didn't have the energy to respond to Finn's taunts.
"If you weren't from the Poison - thorn, I might have let you live." Finn smiled and didn't bother to pick up the dagger stuck in the mage's neck. Instead, he walked to the table where the adventurers had their arm - wrestling match before. He pulled up a chair and sat down. Then he smiled at the big guy at the door and said, "Don't even think about running. Sure, barbarians are fast, but you can't outrun my knife."
"Only cowards run!" Hearing Finn's mocking laugh, the big guy cursed and stopped moving towards the door.
"Good that you're not running." Finn grinned casually. Then he put his remaining dagger in his belt and waved at the big guy. "You think you're strong, right? Come on! Let's arm - wrestle. If you win, no question, I'll let you go."
"Arm - wrestle?!" When Finn said this, not only was the big guy shocked, but the adventurers in Mill Town around them were also confused. Many in Mill Town knew Finn was strong, so they weren't too surprised when he easily took out the three Poison - thorn members. After all, he was a level - ten ability user. But no one expected Finn, a thief, to ask to arm - wrestle a barbarian. Everyone knew barbarians were strong in strength and thieves were fast. Just like barbarians were bad at being fast, thieves didn't have much strength. Now Finn was using his weakness against the enemy's strength, and it had everyone puzzled. They all looked at Finn with strange looks, trying to figure out if the thing on Finn's neck was a human head or a pig's head.
"Are you sure you'll let me go if I win the arm - wrestling?" The big guy was really doubtful about Finn's promise. He looked at Finn with suspicion in his red eyes.
"Sure, sure!" Finn nodded impatiently.
"I... I'll do it!" The big guy hesitated for a moment. Even though he felt something was off, he agreed in the end. He thought it was better to compete in strength than in speed with a thief. The barbarian's berserk time wasn't short, and the berserk big guy thought that even if the other guy was a superhuman, he shouldn't lose in a simple strength test.
The big guy walked towards Finn step by step. To give himself courage, he stomped hard with each step. After a few steps, the tavern floor shook as if he had endless energy.
The big guy walked up to Finn. But instead of sitting in a chair like Finn, he got down on one knee in front of Finn. When they held hands, Finn got goosebumps all over. If it weren't for the fact that the wooden benches in the tavern couldn't handle the big guy sitting on them when he was berserk, Finn would've thought the guy was proposing... "You be the judge!" To stop the goosebumps, Finn quickly waved at Sasha, who was standing nearby.
