So much speed and power unleashed in such a short period of time, capable of rendering someone with near instant healing unconscious. He might have siphoned mana directly from his opponents body during or before attacking, that would help drop the level of mana reinforcement Boom was probably able to achieve. It would also account for the swift result but even so, damn. If Purple Coat was already capable of such speed and power just imagine when he was more experienced and even more refined, pity the poor lower level demons. Maybe even the higher level ones too. 'Hmm i wonder if his mana siphoning and brute force can overpower Stream's diamond reinforced defenses like that?'
When his train of thought got to that point Tamashi glanced at the first Supreme magi's descendant, then his gaze trailed further across the arena to where his daughter was. Fade was lucky that he chose to avoid interacting with Purple Coat altogether, if he had chosen to try phasing and allowing the punch to pass through him instead that might not have worked.
The notorious young mage might not be invincible or flawless but every other contestant needed to be cautious while dealing with him, no matter how powerful their aspect or skillset was. What he could already achieve with his speed, power and mana manipulation alone was refined enough to challenge most mages. Add that to the fact that he hadn't even utilized his permaclone again after disarming Genie's first attack, Purple Coat was obviously still holding back.
Tamashi watched as the sole recipient of every attack initiated throughout the tournament so far turned around facing the remainder of his current opponents. He had an air of confidence radiating off him in waves, which should be bone chilling to his attackers. If a prey was cornered by three predators, let alone three who were of equivalent or somewhat similar power to it's own, shouldn't the prey be cowering? Or at the very least show some degree of caution, yet Purple Coat seemed just as unperturbed as he had been at the very beginning.
Perhaps the prey was actually the apex predator in this scenario or perhaps it had the courage of a honey badger. As everyone watched on with intense anticipation of what was to come, Purple Coat removed his Coat which his codename was derived from as people started referring to him in that manner, leaving it to hover in the air and began cracking his knuckles. A few seconds later he seemed to flicker out of existence with no indication of which direction he was headed.
Every guild master inched closer to the edge of their seats and every mage within range of possible immediate retaliation started turning their heads in every which direction.
Other than the initial burst of mana when he had first moved, there was no other way to tell when and where and who was going to be attacked. Purple Coat could have gone in any direction, just when the anticipation was building to a nauseating point he appeared right infront of Genie. The black mamba started to attack as Purple Coat appeared but was immediately crushed with one well placed stomp which left a crater the length of the snakes body.
One of the identical Genie's tried to anticipate and evade the next attack but was dispersed as if blown apart by a gust of wind without even being physically attacked, the remaining Genie started coalescing into wisps of thick mist but Purple Coat simply grasped it where the neck previously was and pulled it in towards him.
While Genie started to solidify back into human form as her mana was most likely being siphoned away, Stream raced toward Purple Coat with her diamond sword already coming down towards his left shoulder. Splinter arrived attacking from his right with a wooden battle axe aimed at his torso, however before the attack could land he simply swatted away Streams sword by hitting the flat of her blade and simply ignored Splinters battle axe which connected with his torso and bounced off harmlessly.
There was a chorus of audibly surprised gasps beside Tamashi at the sight of this display. Markus meanwhile bellowed "yes that's my boy, give em hell, I knew it my instincts are never wrong!"
Just then, losing her balance from that unexpected counter, Streams face came within range of Purple Coats left arm which he brought around smacking her at the back of her head slamming her face into the ground.
Splinter in the mean time stopped himself abruptly avoiding any reciprocation of voilence by sprouting roots from his thighs, which sank into the ground stopping him in place. Then immediately withdrew them and propelled himself backwards out of harms reach.
Throughout all of this Genie was still being held up by the neck, trying and failing to turn back into mist and get away. Tamashi reinforced his eyes with mana and focused his attention on Purple Coat to discover where the mana he siphoned was going, only to realize that every ounce of mana siphoned was being used to reinforce the young mages body from the outside. This young man was indeed a battle genius.
Atmospheric mana was impure and took some time and effort to purify, if you truly wanted better control over it regardless of whether you were going to absorb it or not that would waste precious time in the heat of battle. However siphoning already purified mana directly from your opponent or their projectile based attacks would cut through all of that process and this is exactly what Purple Coat was doing.
Every attack empowered by mana dished out towards him would be like accidentally adding gasoline to an already spreading fire. With his level of mana manipulation alone he could steal mana from anyone attacking him and potentially use it to defeat them without touching his own reserves. Any opponent who couldn't wrestle away control of their mana would unwittingly render themselves as an accomplice in their own defeat.
Genie herself was evidence of that, who was currently being restrained by her own previously purified mana. Stream who had recovered by this point in time was rising to her feet. She stood up dusted off the debri from her mask and turned to Purple Coat, it seemed as if she was going to exchange words. Seeing that Tamashi reinforced his ears with mana, preparing to listen. "Nice to meet you too Purple coat, you're quite the gentleman aren't you?" She said to him the sarcasm in her voice as thick as oatmeal porridge.
The notorious battle fiend turned to face her and replied: "Well, no need to be gentle with a rough woman. That attack of yours if it landed on an average person wouldn't have been gentle, as a matter of fact it wouldn't be gentle on me either. Which is why i chose to ignore that other Mages attack but deflected yours." Stream chuckled at his reply then uttered: "Toùche, so you're saying i have a better chance at beating you and he is negligible then?"
Purple Coat tilted his head sideways then replied nonchalantly: "i guess we'll find out soon enough. Are you gonna continue being my opponent?" Stream walked a few feat away to retrieve her sword then replied: "certainly."
Just then Death Web arrived in a flash of blinding light and added: "so, Mr famous can i join?" He simply shook his head while chuckling and said, "You guys must be major fans of jujutsu kaisen, everybody's jumping me."
There was a very intense surge of mana, at which point Purple coat released Genie so quick that there was an after image where his hand travelled back to his side. He turned his head in the direction opposite of where Death Web stood, as if on que, there was an explosive impact as a spider web shaped carving was etched into the arena wall in that direction.
