Float was being pursued relentlessly by her opponent Stream who was firing off a barrage of attacks. Diamonds shaped into arrows, a cloud like mass of volcanic ash, lava pits which popped up at random intervals shooting immolating streams at her. So she was keeping to her lava bubble form and siphoning mana from Streams attacks as she evaded her. As she dodged an incoming diamond arrow and siphoned some more mana from the mass of ash, there was a massive mana surge behind her. From the intensity of that outburst she was ninety percent sure it was her mentor unleashing his reinforced spider silk attack. Both Float and her opponent stopped in their tracks and turned in the direction the surge had originated from. There was a spherical cage which seemed to be made of a similar substance closing in on him. However before it could get too close, his attack met it and there was a huge explosion as her mentors counterattack overpowered the incoming one. He then floated down to stand face to face with her and they both took an offensive stance.
Float smiled under her mask: "Well... that's my que i guess." Stream immediately turned towards her, tilted her head sideways then asked: "That's your que, for what exactly?" She simply pointed towards her mentor then replied: "My que to get the hell out of here, of course. Everything you guys have witnessed from him so far is just a warm up for him. He's flipped the switch now, you're gonna get a little taste of what he's truly capable of. Oh and i think you're help would be appreciated by the other girl, however I'll be going now."
Stream started to take a step towards her but Float raised her hand and waved a finger at her: "ah, ah, ah... i'm going to sit out the rest of this whether you like it or not and don't attempt to stop me. Go help your friend trust me, she'll need it." Stream shook her head in disbelief: "Both of you guys are full of yourselves aren't you, do you think you can chase me off just like that? I'm going to defeat you first and that's a promise."
Float brought her hand to her face and shook her head as if she was suddenly exhausted: "You thought i was asking did you, you're not underestimating me because i use bubbles and you think my ability has less utility than yours are you?" Stream simply shrugged and got ready to attack in response. Float swiftly expelled a massive amount of condense purified mana from within her body, forming a mana bubble around them and lifted it off the ground trapping herself and Stream inside of it. Her opponents shoulders trembled as she began to laugh. "You intend to trap a mage who can use lava and diamonds with a bubble, don't be hilarious!"
Float stared at her without a shred of humor. "Who says this bubble is meant to restrain you? It's meant to contain the substance I'm about to use, on you." She then morphed her body into Ammonia and started flooding the mana bubble with it. At which point Stream started to rub her mask as if trying to get something out of her eyes, forgetting that they were currently covered by the mask. "The faster you get out of here the better it will be for you, she said matter of factly. What you are now experiencing are the effects of inhaling Ammonia, oh and fun fact if you inhale too much... you'll die." Stream raised her head, obviously looking at her.
Float was sure that if there wasn't a mask covering her opponents face, there would have been a look of absolute dread in her eyes.
Stream immediately turned around and bolted towards the inner surface of the mana bubble. Float dismissed the mana bubble and began absorbing it back into her body. "Ahh, the major flaw of all of us living beings, we all need to breathe."
Upon escaping the radius of her attack Float's opponent fled to what she probably assumed to be a safe enough distance and started breathing heavily. At which point Float dismissed her bubble form, reinforced herself with mana and accelerated her levitating body at high speed to where the Supreme magi and the guild masters were seated. Arriving there in hurry, she immediately greeted them in her most pleasant tone: "Good afternoon guys, i kindly request that you accept my decision to sit out the remainder of this tournament."
All the guild masters looked at her in utter shock. Guild master Dominaire looked at her with a slightly irritated expression on his face for some reason, then asked: "Why are you choosing to forfeit, you defeated one of the contestants with what seemed like very little effort and just caused another to retreat using a single attack. You should be able to defeat her at the very least if..."
The guild master didn't get to finish his sentence. There was a noticeable flare up of mana as Float's Permaclone arrived behind her, closely followed by Purple Coat's. Each of the guild masters looked at each other in turn as if conveying a message which didn't need to be transmitted verbally. "Have a seat." Dominaire replied reluctantly. Float was more than happy to comply.
Mere moments later the mana in the entire arena seemed to quake as there was an impact like a crack of thunder. Out there in the centre of the arena one figure clad in diamond was embedded in the floor with a crater expanding out from what was likely the point of impact. Her mentor's fist was already rising from the spot leaving behind an after image, above and to the left of him was Death Web with her arms outstretched at an angle facing away from Stream. She was obviously preparing to unleash that invisible attack of hers, Float assumed the girl had realized that her other projectile based attack was too slow to contend with him.
However Purple Coat was already in the process of dodging it, he had already sensed the movement of her body through the slightest disturbance of the atmospheric mana. Her mentor had also began to amplify himself even more now by passively siphoning mana from his opponents and using it on top of his beast bond ability, Purple Coat could utilize several different beast bond abilities and he refined those abilities with every opponent he faced. Coming up against a speedster her mentor was definitely going to push his flea beast bond abilities to their limits.
By the time Death Web's projectile attack was ready her mentor had already gotten himself clean out of the way, moments later there was a massive spike of mana as a circular hole was burned into the arena floor. Wisps of smoke rose from it while Purple Coat hovered in midair, as Float watched her eyesight amplified with mana to be able to follow their movements. Her mentor formed a flat platform made of mana below his feet, then contorted his body like a spring dodging another attack. This one was made of almost blinding yellow light, Float figured that was probably less of an attack and more of an attempt at a distraction to set up another one.
That was a smart move, bombarding him with well coordinated attacks which would limit his evasive options could indeed open up more opportunities for them to land a hit or two.
Moments later her conjecture was proven to be correct. There were a barrage of needle like diamond projectiles accelerating towards his torso. Purple Coat didn't move to actively dodge but before any of the projectiles could make contact, a disk like construct composed of spider silk swiftly formed infront his body stopping the projectiles. Seconds later, they simply disintegrated into a rain of diamond dust, completely drained of mana.
Stream came in from the other side her sword descending towards his neck. Purple Coat allowed the attack to continue unobstructed, Death Web had a sword of light coming towards his midsection as well. Her Permaclone had dropped it's invisibility by this point in time as his opponents had apparently come to the realization that employing such a tactic against him was futile. The clone in question had sent off a light based attack in the form of a flat disk which was heading towards his legs.
Purple Coat's opponents must have thought that they had him cornered in that moment. However before either of the incoming attacks could reach him there was a massive surge of mana, in mere seconds the entire arena was permeated by a suffocating aura which stopped right infront of the guild masters and Supreme magi.
At the center of the three approaching attacks there was an hand extending from her mentors neck, it was composed of spider silk infused with extremely dense mana. It had cleaved clean through Streams sword and was going to connect with her chest in a moment. When it did there was an ear splitting clamour and Stream started coughing up blood, if the sword hadn't taken away some of it's momentum the results would have been more severe. She fell to the ground and curled up into a fetal position. To his other side where Death Web and her Permaclone had been attacking from earlier, there was an impenetrable darkness covering his body. Both of Death Web's arms were inside it up to her elbows and the Permaclone's disk shaped projectile was nowhere to be seen.
