Upon reading the notification, a jolt of fear surged through him. He had been asleep for a week! He had missed all of his classes and now only had a week left before Noah comes for him as promised.
Panicked, he darted out of his room and rushed towards his last lesson of the day – Soul Weapons.
Ironically, it was the subject that had been introduced by the military to enhance their abilities and increase the damage output of their powers by harnessing their "Soul Traits."
Soul Weapon: A Soul Weapon is the manifestation of a human's latent abilities. Each Soul Weapon is unique. While some humans may possess similar abilities, no two will have the same Soul Weapon. Each person has a unique trait ingrained within their Soul Weapon.
Formation: A Soul Weapon forms within a human's body from a young age. It is shaped by their emotions and experiences throughout their life. Upon awakening their first ability, the Soul Weapon begins to take shape.
*Types: There are two primary types of Soul Weapons: Enhancement and Item.
* Enhancement Type: This type augments the user's existing abilities. It might enhance elemental control, increase strength, or grant access to new applications of their powers.
* Item Type: This type manifests as a physical object, such as a weapon or a tool. These weapons are often an extension of the user's abilities, infused with their unique power. Nate's unique coin was a prime example. Item type Soul Weapons can be more challenging to understand and utilize initially.*
*Awakening: The Soul Weapon is like a second will residing within a human, a sort of secondary consciousness. It resides near the heart. To awaken it, one must first visualize it, call out to it, not from their mind, but from their chest. This involves silencing the conscious mind and attempting to communicate with the Soul Weapon from within.
The second step involves controlling one's MC cells (presumably a type of energy within the body). Humans typically control their MC cells through their minds. To awaken the Soul Weapon, one must learn to control these cells using their "soul" instead, connecting with that inner will residing near the heart.
However, there are risks. An incomplete Soul Weapon may be forcibly ejected from the user's body. Once this happens, it becomes permanently fixed in that incomplete state.*
While listening to the explanation given by the teacher, Tyler was quite intrigued. The concept of Soul Weapons fascinated him. As the bell rang, signaling the end of class, he decided to delve deeper. His mind was consumed by a single question:
Do vampires possess Soul Weapons?
He returned to his room and immediately sought out the ancient, leather-bound book, the "Mystic Book of the Vampiric Era." This tome, passed down through generations of his lineage, held the secrets of his kind. He carefully placed a drop of his blood on the page, a ritual that would reveal any new entries or updates.
He waited, anticipation building. The page shimmered, then rippled, revealing new lines of text.
The soul appears as a coloured flame.
You should be able to clearly see what is in your soul from there. Then all you need to do is bring yourself into the picture with the soul. Finally, it will show you the image of what your soul weapon is or will be. An enhancement type or an item type. The soul weapon was something that formed in oneself from a young age, and once reaching seventeen, it would be solidified. The shape and what it could do would all be influenced by one's nature and their ability.
The enhancement type is easier to use than an item type upon initially manifesting it and is generally the more common of the two types. The enhancement type soul weapon is basic, and it's up to the user's creativety to use it.Usually, one's MC points would be used greatly when using a soul weapon, so it was important to decide when the right time was to use it.
Using it at the beginning wasn't always the best choice. It would be like a boxer swinging wild punches at the start of the match. If they all missed, the person would be gassed out, too tired to continue and at their most vulnerable point. That's why most users would fight at a steady pace, therefore, when their winning chance or the opponent was weak is when they would use their soul weapon.
Tyler was relieved to know that, despite their unique nature, humans turned into vampires could still potentially possess some form of Soul Weapon. He decided to experiment with this concept once he had the opportunity to speak with Noah again.
For now, he closed the book. This chapter was over, at least until his next evolution. He then decided to phone Mia. Time was nearing the end of the deal with Noah, and he wanted to know if she was still at school.
The training hall of the Warriors Academy echoed with the sound of steel clashing against steel. Sweat dripped from Mia's brow as she sparred with Eva Jones, her personal instructor. Eva, a formidable warrior herself, pushed Mia relentlessly.
Suddenly, Mia's communicator chirped. She paused, catching her breath.
"Hold on, Eva," she said, pulling the device from her belt. "It's probably just another recruitment offer."
"Better answer it, Mia," Eva advised. "You never know when a genuine opportunity might arise."
Mia nodded and accepted the call.
"Hello?"
A voice, muffled by static, came through. "Mia? It's... it's important."
"I'm kind of busy right now," Mia replied, her eyes fixed on Eva, who was already resuming her stance. "I'll call you back later."
"Okay," the voice conceded, and the line went dead.
Mia slipped the communicator back into its holster and returned to the spar, her mind briefly distracted by the unanswered call.
Meanwhile, in a different part of the academy, Tyler stretched languidly, yawning. "Another day, another round of pointless drills," he muttered to himself. "Guess I'll just catch some sleep."
He drifted off to his quarters, leaving the sounds of training echoing through the halls.
