My name is Takahashi Kento, a young man with a fulfilling life. At just twenty-six, I've got it all: a loving wife, a house, and a decent salary. Some might even call me a small success story.
After all, in a city like Kyoto, where property prices soar at 41,000 yuan per square meter, owning an 81-square-meter home is no small feat. Many envy my life, but for my beloved, I've always been willing to push myself further.
My future was supposed to be bright—a warm home, a promising career, a good life. But all of that was shattered by a cruel twist of fate.
On a business trip to Japan, while waiting at the train station, a spoiled child demanded the candy in my hand. When I refused, he pushed me onto the tracks. Before I could react, a speeding train sealed my fate.
I perished under its relentless wheels, my soul departing this world. What happened after my death remains a mystery. My only hope is that my wife lives well, free of sorrow. Yet, little did I know, my story was far from over.
I would be reborn in a fantastical world, where I would once again find myself at the center of chaos, hunted and ensnared in a sinister scheme.
Year 1515 of the Sea Circle Calendar.
The Kuroro Archipelago.
Located in a remote region of the East Blue, this archipelago is a little-known cluster of 68 islands, lying roughly 3,000 nautical miles from the Red Line.
The environment here is notoriously harsh, with the saying, "Three days without clear skies, and rain that never seems to end."
Constant rainfall and minimal sunshine have left the islands shrouded in dense rainforests. The air is stifling, humid, and unwelcoming, making human presence scarce. Yet, what matches the unforgiving climate are the fierce creatures that call these islands home.
The Kuroro Archipelago wasn't always teeming with life. However, after an unknown event, the Sea Kings were driven from their ocean territories, forced to adapt to life on land. Thanks to the humid rainforests, they barely managed to survive.
Initially, the ecosystem was stable; the limited variety of creatures found plenty of space to thrive. But as the species grew in number and diversity, the islands became crowded.
In this harsh land of survival of the fittest, Kuroro became a blood-soaked battleground where only the strong endure. The weak are consumed by the mighty or become nutrients for the lush rainforest.
Some Sea Kings, less suited to land life but possessing superior aquatic abilities, returned to the ocean, evolving further to survive.
This led to a chilling reality: the waters surrounding the Kuroro Archipelago became a no-go zone for humanity. The islands themselves were equally treacherous. Only those with overwhelming power could survive here. Otherwise, the brutal beasts would tear intruders apart.
Even Navy Rear Admirals, unless they are among the elite, dare not set foot on these islands. Their strength isn't enough to intimidate the monstrous inhabitants.
For pirates, merchants, or cargo vessels sailing this route, nine out of ten end up as shipwrecks, leaving no survivors.
Thus, the Kuroro Archipelago earned its grim moniker: Demon's Paradise, a place few dare to tread.
